That sounds just like Premier, which nobody liked.
Premier (cigarette) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not even close. The iQOS is a miniature vaporizer.

You insert the short cigarette into the vaporizer and vape it in the same manner as if you lit it up.

There is also this ( sort of a cross between the iqos and a vg cartomizer )

ploom_tech1.png

"Japan Tobacco Inc. started selling its own electronic cigarettes — Ploom Tech, priced at ¥4,000 — in Fukuoka and on the internet in March. It temporarily suspended shipments in the face of a flood of orders, and even though it resumed shipments in June, JT has currently suspended online orders from new customers."

But it's actual tobacco leaf, not liquid. Premier also heated leaf tobacco.
There was no electric component to the premier though. You had to burn a piece of charcoal at the end of the cigarette.

"The smokeless cigarette is the size and shape of a conventional cigarette. At the burning end, however, a small piece of charcoal-like carbon is all that ignites and burns. The smoker, by inhaling, draws the hot air from the burning piece of carbon over rolled tobacco and an oblong-shaped aluminum ''flavor capsule'' embedded in the tobacco, which contains nicotine and flavorings."

A pack of iQOS is what... $6? Yikes. When I quit smokes they were under $3 here. (generic moose crap brand). All Health gains aside, these days I sure do enjoy injgesting my nic for about 25 cents a barrel. (Or thereabouts give or take. :))
There are those who grow, cure, cut and case their own tobacco, and then there are those who pay $ 25 for a 30 ml bottle of liquid and finish it in two or three days.

30 ml of my DIY costs me 36 cents. I have to reuse the bottle because it cost more than the liquid. Lately if I'm anywhere near smoking it smells terrible. It's easier and cheaper to do things the old fashioned way, e liquid in an atomizer.

What i meant was cost is not the only consideration for everyone. To some who can afford it, convenience is more important.

The reason i don't use plug'n'play devices is that i can't get the same quality vape that i get with rebuildables. Right now i spend about $ 40 a month on vaping. If i were to diy exclusively, i'm sure i can bring it down to $ 10 a month or less. I chose not to do so. Likewise if i were able to get the same quality vape with a plug'n'play device for $ 100 a month, i will gladly say goodbye to building, wicking, assembling, re-wicking, disassembling, washing etc .... I'd much rather vape, than maintain my vape.

I realize some people like the hobby aspect for it's own sake, but i sincerely believe that the majority of smokers don't and won't. There is a reason that out of nine million vapers in the U.S., six million are dual users. The cigalikes help these dual users to cut back, but not quit cigarettes altogether. If they were more satisfying, perhaps they could quit completely. Not to mention the over 40 million current smokers, most of whom have tried ecigs according to polls, but didn't stick with it. If they were interested in the stuff we use, they would've tried them already.

The more options we have in tobacco harm reduction, the better. I don't care if you use a cigalike, Pod mod, Ego setup, mech mod, DNA 200 or whatever, as long as you aren't smoking. Likewise, if the iQos, Ploom Tech, or a [removed] vaporizer helps some smokers transition, i support them. The same goes for Snus etc ... If you don't light it on fire, it's safer !

I'd doubt that simply changing the heat source would make it better, though. It's probably still rather weak, but maybe they like it that way.

Outstanding post, and right on the money in all aspects.
