I really like it, so much so I got a spare during a July 4th sale that I haven't even opened yet. I don't use the EVOD on it as I use carto's in tanks, but I did try it, vapes like an EVOD. Can't tell you how many times I have had it in my pocket, bent over and it hit the ground, only broke one tank, but the Hybris is still clicking along. I have $1000's in vape gear, like most all of them, but this is my "go to" device. YMMV

Also, depending on just how into the culture portion of it he is, you could always get a t-shirt too. I personally would definitely prefer a tank or mod, something I could actually vape with, but if deciding on that is way too much for you, a t-shirt could be a way out while still relating to vaping

I like it, Burnie... reminds me of my old, faithful Tesla VV-VW tube mod... I've had it for quite some time and it still fires up every time I push the button!
After the ego style, I went to a Vamo V5. Love it. It's variable voltage/variable wattage, has a built in resistance checker, and even tells you your battery level. It's cheaper if you buy online however because you'll most likely want to get a new tank and batteries (and spares) to go with it.
Well I'm just conjecturing here, but it seems to me the big vaping prize for many at his stage of vaping would be a PROVARI. Top that with a Z-atty and I think he'd be pretty darn happy, but then it might be a bit pricey.
For your price range an MVP and Nautilus would be awesome. I would prefer my wife to buy me something as opposed to getting a gift card. And the fact that your took the time to hit the forums would make it that much better. He's one very lucky dude. Be sure to check back in and tell us what you got him.
Saturday's almost pushing it to get him an MVP and Nautilus (or I'd go Mega or V2) maybe if you could get one of those ships fast and free things on ebay they could get it here by Saturday.

If you are able to track down a resource to get it quick enough - an MVP is certainly a staple usable happy piece of equipment. Even if he advances up the ladder to other things - the MVP is a huge step up from egos and a valuable tool for the vape stash

I would highly recommend an Innokin MVP + a ProTank 3 by Kangertech. Great setup! He's gonna like it
I prefer IMR to the Li-Ion that comes with it (which is not Efest), but I do like Efest batteries. With my second one I got on sale I also got 4 Efest IMR batteries. I already had an i2 charger for my 18xxx batteries, which also works on these 14500 batteries. Coupon code for 10% off on home page, should save you a little more. I got my first one 2 1/2 months ago and that has been my ADV ever since.

Because I am picky about my juices (what I like and don't like) I would not recommend buying him juice unless he has talked about one he is dying to try. I would honestly agree that taking him to a store and saying here is your budget have fun would be a fun experience for you both. You will get to enjoy seeing him pick it out and struggle with the "right" decision and he will get exactly what he wants.
