I've been using cartomizers from day one. Just seems easier than fussing with separate carts and attys. My 510 is a 3.7 and my passthrough is 5 volt. I use the same cartos with both and they did fine for the first week. Then my taste buds decided to check out.

The cartos were an issue for me, I went to direct dripping which seems to deliver more taste and less pg feel for me. I do use the cartos every once in a while and definitely notice a lack of flavor....

Yep....went through this a while back. Some of the suggestions that helped me were:
1) Drink more water, the pg tends to dry us out which also means our mouth (cotton mouth)
2) Chew gum with xylitol in it, helps keep the saliva flowing
3) Brush your teeth frequently
4) Try a stronger juice flavor, coffee and menthol both helped
5) Draw with different areas of your mouth, to the side, middle and other side, frequently switching it up.....also will help prevent pucker face, lol!
Just to let you know, it was just a small hiccup for me. Only lasted a day or so, now everything is delicious once more. :)
Hang in there...tomorrow is a new vape day!

Lol, i thought it was something wrong with my equipment since food and everything else tastes normal. Well this is good to know. I did try my cinnamon and that came through which then made me think the other juices were bad batches or something. I also could taste a sample of usa mix that i received recently and it reminded me of a ry4 kinda flavor.... but i really liked it. Too bad i vaped that up in about 1.5 days :(

This is the weirdest thing. Why would only e-juice flavors bottom out when everything else tastes normal? I mean if tongue scraping and drinking juices and stuff would cleanse the pallate or whatever, you would think all foods etc would be bland as well.

When this happens to me I do the following.
Slow down, maybe take a break, try and develop shorter sessions or bursts of heavy vaping.
Change up, new atty/or different atty, try a cartomizer, try a drip tip,, change up.
Relax, forget about it, complain about, scream!! Then start over.
Go home look in the mirror to confirm that you are still alive and yes vapor looks like smoke and every things OK.

I wonder if the double flavor option from vikingvapor.com would punch through this flavorless thing? Anybody try it? I'm going to order some tonight and find out. Been looking for an excuse to try out some of their product anyway even though i have plenty of juice atm.

Right now it's so bad i tried vaping some straight plain vg and there wasn't really much of a difference as far as taste goes. I'll report back in about a week on how the double flavors test works out.

I just ordered some double flavors from gourmet vapor as well. They're having a 50% off sale until the 28th (Saturday) so I decided to experiment mixing flavors there.

Ok, just ordered 16 samples (7.5ml bottles) from viking vapor. All at double flavor and 30mg. With coupon code (-5%) and free shipping (over $50 order) it came to $53. I'll report back on the potency of taste in a few days.

I also just received some of my other juices from another supplier (regular strength flavors) and although most are pretty subtle the watermelon really cuts through this no taste thing. Tastes just like a jolly rancher. It's very tasty but it's not something i can use as an all day vape (personal preferrence). Heh, you'll have to clean your atty thoroughly to clear that flavor.

Ok, just got my shipment of 16 samples from Vikingvapor.com. They are double flavor, normal throat hit option, 7.5 ml @ 30mg nic, 70pg/30vg mix in plastic dropper bottles (not child proof).

Methodology for taste testing:
No filler in cart so not to have residue from one flavor to the next. Blow out atty between flavors and run dry for 3-4 secs till atty is cleared completely. Since this is 30mg it may take a while to complete this test as i don't want nic headaches ;)

Disclaimer:
Keep in mind that the reason i went for double flavors was due to my current state of not tasting or barely tasting my juices. Seems to be a common issue for many of us. If a flavor is too strong i will dilute it with more pg and probably give an updated opinion on it.

RY4:
Hmm, not what i was expecting. Tastes more like caramel to me. Not unpleasant but not what i'm used to when vaping RY4. I will try a dilution on this and see if it then takes on the familiar RY4 flavor. Not really feeling much TH. Seems to have a kinda plastic like overtone in the taste. I've tasted this before from another distributor. Not sure if this is from the flavoring or from the nic level. Normally vape 18 or 24. Dissapointed since RY4 is normally a fav of mine. Ability to cut through my no tasting buds= pretty good

Pralines & Cream:
Definitely taste a cream flavor with a mild nuttiness. It's ok but not my cup o tea (personal preference). Just tried it cuz someone raved about it in a video review i saw and figured what the hell. Keeping in mind my taste buds are not vapor friendly atm, i cant see diluting this flavor. Fine level of flavor now but diluting it would seem to me to make it too subtle. TH= eh Ability to cut through my no tasting buds= so so

Cherry Cordial:
I was really looking forward to this flavor as the candy cherry cordials are one of my favorites. On the draw and most of the exhale it's definitely cordial cherry (like the ice cream cherries) straight out of the jar. It's not until the very last of the finish that i can taste an extremely subtle chocolate. So subtle that unless i was looking for it i would have said it was straight cherry. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty darned good but again, not what i was expecting. I think this should be renamed "cordial cherries" as to not be confused with the candy cherry cordial OR add more chocolate. Luckily i ordered straight chocolate flavor and will experiment with this to see if i can come up with the candy flavor myself. Also, this flavor is strong as a double flavor and many people would definitely want to dilute it or mix a few drops to add cherry overtones to another flavor. Overall i'm happy with this flavor. Note: My wife says she can smell chocolate when i exhale so maybe it's just me. TH = so so Side Note: Wow, that flavor is so strong i had to do a thorough atty cleaning to remove it. Ability to cut through my no tasting buds= off the scale

Creme De Menthe:
First off i've never tried the liqueur so i can't compare it to that. I tried this flavor since a video review said it tasted exactly like the little mint chocolate candies... bullcrap. First impression is it tastes just like a very strong pepermint breathmint. On the draw (i keep my tongue in the airstream) my tongue tingles with the mintiness, i like that. Really good throat hit and makes my mouth and lungs feel cool (temperature wise) but in a different way than from menthol. After vaping this for a bit I can see a slight resemblance to the candy but it needs way more chocolate for me to make that call. It's really growing on me. Also, this is an extremely strong double flavor so I will try it diluted and another test mixed with chocolate. Now i want to try the liqueur to see how it stacks up. TH= pretty good. Overall impression= pretty darned good but needs diluting.... maybe hehe. Ability to cut through my no tasting buds= off the scale. Notes: Wife says it smells like pepermint patties. I was gonna move to the next flavor but something about this stuff makes me want to keep vaping it. I can see this as a great vape to break monotony or to cleanse the palatte. Thorough cleaning required.

Coffee:
This is a flavor they ask you to customize to your liking. I requested a cappucino with a hint of caramel and vanilla. First let me say that coffee is a favorite vape for me but as mentioned, i can't taste them any more :( I can definitely taste this but it's not over powering as a double flavor... it's just right in intensity. As for the flavor, i wouldn't call it cappucino exactly. A deep rich coffee flavor is whats prevalent. Slightly sweet but not too sweet. I can definitely taste a subtle cream and a touch of caramel. Not tasting any vanilla though. Overall i really like it. It will probably be a primary vape for me. Doesn't quite hit the mark for a cappucino though, just a damned good strong cup of coffee with cream and sugar. TH= eh. Wife says it smells like coffee... duh ;)

Kahlua & Cream:
Ok, this ones weird. I can definitely taste the cream but absolutley no kahlua. it's so kahlualess (pun intended) i'm wondering if they actually forgot to add the flavor. It's a dark liquid so i'm guessing they did add it. What i am tasting besides the cream is some kind of nut that i have tasted before but can't put my finger on it atm. OH WAIT, this tastes like the pralines and cream... WTF? Yep, switching back and forth it would be hard to tell the two apart... freakin weird. Bah, that's a complete Fail! I can see using it to add cream flavor to a cappucino or something but that's it. TH= eh

English Toffee:
Reminds me of their RY4 i tried ealier. A bit caramel like with a slight plastic undertone. Dissapointed, i can taste a very very subtle toffee flavor but if i didnt know what it was i probably wouldn't guess toffee. Th= eh

Pineapple:
This is a strange one. It smells just like pineapple soda which i love. I was expecting that same thing in taste. First thing i noticed was the sensation on the tip of my tongue. It felt bitter like i was barely sticking my tongue in cocoa but just on the tip. Not the flavor of bitter, just the sensation. I was expecting a sweet sensation... strange. The flavor is pleasant and also reminds me of pineapple soda but it doesnt taste nearly as strong as it smells... shame. A watered down pineapple soda is the way i would describe it. Overall i like it but needs more intensity of flavor. TH= eh

Blueberry Cheesecake:
Well, it's definitely blueberry cheesecake. Good amount of blueberry flavor with a subtle cheescake flavor. I would describe it more like a blueberry cheesecake muffin since the cheesecake is relatively subtle but definitely there. Slightly sweet but not too sweet. I'd say he got this one pretty good. Gotta try it if you're a cheesecake lover. TH= so so

Chocolate Strawberry:
I had to vape this for about 5 mins before i could detect any flavor at all. After a while i could detect an ever so subtle strawberry flavor on the finish... that's it. It does have a tH though and one that seems to linger a bit so... TH= decent. Due to the lack of flavor though i will not be vaping it again until my vapor taste buds return to normal. Shame since i was looking forward to this flavor.

Chocolate Raspberry:
That's a little better. Definitely taste the raspberry and although i seem to have trouble tasting chocolate liquids, it is there, lightly. It's a pretty subtle flavor and really can't see this as a single strength flavor, doubt i would taste anything. Sweet on the tip of the tongue but not overly so. Overall i like it and will be vaping more of it. TH= decent.

Chocolate Banana:
Ok, that's tasty. I remember seeing a video about a banana flavor where they described it as banana laffy taffy. Yeah, that's pretty spot on. I can detect the chocolate ever so slightly. I liked banana laffy taffy as a kid and now i know i still do... just don't like taffy candy. SO if you do too, you'll probably like this. If the chocolate flavor i got is decent i will be adding some to this and hopefully improve it. Flavor is not overpowering and i wont be diluting it except as an experiment to see if it becomes a more real banana flavor. Overall i really like it. TH= so so

Chocolate:
Chocolate is there although a bit mild. Reminds me of a charleston chew. Slightly sweet and a noticable lung hit, feels... thick. I can feel that all the way down as it passes... i likey. When i mix this with the other flavors i'll have to add the others sparingly so as not to overpower the chocolate. Again i can't see this as a single strength flavor but as double strength, it's pretty good. TH= pretty good with noticable lung hit.

Chocolate Mint:
Ok, this is definitely a variant of the Creme De Menthe. The chocolate is too subtle for my taste. I would liken this to a mint chocolate chip icecream with only a few choco chips in it. More minty than that but you get the idea. Tingly on the tongue but understandably not as much as the straight Cremem De Menthe. I'll be experimenting adding chocolate to it. I wouldn't call it chocolate mint like the candy but overall it's not bad. TH= so so - decent

Caramel:
Reminds me of the individually wrapped Kraft caramel candies. I noticed that after a few puffs i could actually taste the caramel in my mouth for a while. There's also a subtle cream like flavor in there. It also seems to have that slight plastic flavor. Not like melting plastic, more like tasting how a well rinsed plastic milk jug smells... not real strong but there. Overall it's ok, would rate higher except for the platicky taste. TH= eh

Caramel Apple:
Ok this is slightly weird. The caramel is definitely there but i can barely taste any apple. What's weird is that although i can hardly taste the apple I can feel the sensation of apple on my tongue. A slight tartness sensation but not so much a tart flavor. Another thing is that the TH is better and also the lung hit, probably due to this tart sensation. Overall i like it, especially the TH & LH, just wish i could taste the apple more. I'd definitely recommend giving this a try. TH= pretty good + good LH

Overall impression:
Not real happy. Even the flavors i think are decent seem to have a weird quality to them. Not one of these flavors is as good as some of my favs from other vendors like RY4, USA mix or the Chocolate Truffle from JC. I will probably vape some of the better ones occasionally and will definitely experiment with some. When i get in the mood i'll do some experiments and add those results. TH on all but a couple was weak. I wish i had tried the stepped up TH options on a couple flavs but to be fair i would've had to ordered the same flav in the various TH options and my main goal was to check out the flavs.

*To be fair though, the main purpose was to see if the double flavors cut through the no taste thing and to that end i would say they succeeded.

Crikey, that's a lot of flavors!

So far pretty much everything I've tried lately has been one of 3 flavors:
Bland
Perfume
Sugar

The only thing that's cutting through and really rocking my world right now is Vanilla Latte from Mad Vapes. Tastes like a good cuppuccino. Everything else pretty much tastes nasty.

Hi Willie,

From the date of your first post, it looks like you've been having this problem since the 19th... that's the same day it happened to me. I was vaping my favorite - Fried Apple from MadVapes and having a problem tasting the flavor in the later part of the day that week. Then Thursday, there was no taste at all.

I've been switching between several flavors and the only time I can taste any of them is with the first hit or two - even then, it's very slight.

Have you found any other flavors besides the Vanilla Latte that you can taste?

Robert, I'm the same way still. Coffee based stuff seems to be the only thing I get any kind of flavor out of with real consistancy. I can taste a bit of cinamon in the Fried Apples but no apple flavor. I can no longer taste Green Apple from Vaporbomb either. I custom ordered some double flavors from Gourmet Vapor and got almost nothing from those. I've tried two different types of watermellon and both tasted like perfume. Marlboro is just harsh and burns my throat. I don't get that nice nutty taste I used to get. None of the other tobaccoo flavors I've tried are much different. So far, the Vanilla Latte is coming through loud and clear. I've been vaping it most of the day just to have something with some flavor in it.

Well... it looks like I'll be placing another juice order, I've been wanting to try the Vanilla Latte anyway. I'll throw in some other flavors to experiment with as well and report back if I find anything with noticeable flavor.

I've tried everything mentioned on this site in order to get my taste back with no luck. I just wish someone could come up with a solution - this sucks!

You mentioned that the Marlboro burns your throat... I've noticed that with a few flavors since this happened, but not consistently. I do remember that in the days leading up to the loss of taste, my throat was sore - like I had been vaping too much and all of the flavors started tasting really odd.

just out of curiosity - what are you using atomizer wise? i've had a couple of days where i was using cartomizers and was having alot of the same symptoms you're describing. i think in retrospect , i was getting minute quantities of juice sprayed across my tongue and killing tastebuds.i also had a couple of cartomizers (and an atty or two) that just didn't put out flavor after a couple of weeks.
i wish i had a definitive answer for ya.it's no fun any way you look at it.

This happens to me quite a bit and its extremely frustrating. I've found that I have to switch to a menthol liquid at that point just to get any kind of satisfaction. I'll just add a couple of drops of menthol to my liquids and at least its a bit better. Sometimes drinking more water will help but I've never been a big water person, even though I know its good for you.
