yes I have noticed that already, we are way behind you guys
and our cigarette prices are astronomical aswell,
i have nic juice about 20 x 30ml bottles of different flavours so no probs there, i just need the right device,

Yes. It's not just the liquid though. These nasty, greedy people also want to charge double of triple for hardware. That's why you should ask on your domestic forum i.m.o.

Hi SinQuaNon
The description of a tingling tongue, harsh throat, and after burn would have led me first to suggest it is the nicotine. High nic levels are harsh and make your tongue feel like someone put black pepper all over it on the exhale. However you mention you are vaping 6mg which isn't that much nic.

My next guess would be a high PG content in your juice as that can give the harsh throat and coughing though I never noticed anything with the tongue relating to it.

Another poster asked you about dry hits where you've scorched the cotton. That would fit with your description of a burnt taste and a crippling throat hit. Try taking a bit of cotton cloth, light it on fire and then blow it out and take a whiff of the smouldering smoke and if that is what you are experiencing then it is a dry hit.

I'm not sure why folks are trying to talk you out of sub-ohm as there is nothing special about sub-ohm vaping any more and I don't think sub-ohm is not responsible for what you describe. Sub-ohm on average simply gives larger clouds and not necessarily harsh ones. I do all sub-ohm with max VG juice and don't like or suffer any sort of strong throat/lung hits.

The question of whether you like MTL or DTL vaping is a matter of choice but again has little to do with what you have described as the problem. Don't rush out to buy another unit (unless you want to of course), rather work with the one you have and get it working correctly. My best guess at this point is you've had dry hits and no one likes or knowingly vapes those. Do some research on the problem and see if that is what it is because they usually can be easily fixed without replacing your gear.

Hi guys thanks for all the advice, I have ordered a nautilus mini tank and some different Ohm coils, I am going to test these against the Melo 3 and see what is going on, I am sure this will be sorted soon! will keep you posted and many many thanks again!!
It can't hurt to try the nautilus tank and will work fine on your pico mod. Just saturate your coils a little before installing and at first try around 10 watts but also take a few pulls without pressing the power button and then wait a few minutes before actually vaping, this will give the coil time to get even more primed. After a while you can increase to around 15 watts on those coils if preferred. Just use the pico in wattage mode and your good to go.

ok thanks for the advice vapdivrr, do I need to allow the vape to soak in the coil for 5-10 mins?

@SinQuaNon first Welcome to ECF and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Now as others have said I believe the tingling is due to the nicotine possibly being the wrong strength, old or poor quality. With the Nautilus Mini in my opinion you can't go wrong and it was my first tank over 2 years ago and now I own three because it is the tank I use the most. 3 Tanks for different flavors.

Good Luck and Vape On Safely!

My wife vapes the nautilus mini and pico combo and I always do her coils. There are like 5 tiny holes on the coils and I drip one drop on each hole and then drip a few drops down the coil itself. When you drip down the coil itself, just do about 3 or 4 and just don't drip it in the center of coil because that's the air part and if you get juice in there it will gurgle. Then install coil, give it a few dry pulls and yes, let it sit about 5 or so minutes and your then good till the next recoil. Also don't use hi vg juice with those coils, maybe 30/70 pg vg at the most. Ideally 50/50 or 40/60 is best

between here and there
Hi guys,
see if you can help

I have been using a Eleaf Pico with a Melo 3 mini tank. 0.5 Ohm atomizer for about a month.
this atomizer is a week old.

I am dualing with analogs, bout 7 a day. so the vaping is minimal

trying different strengths of my baker vapors 0,3,6,12 and 18mg, POET 12mg bourbon scroll and VGL Reserve 6mg tobacco, I keep getting a burning sensation on my tongue and very very strong uncomfortable throat hits and if it continues I may have to go back to analogs full time, this really sux as I was getting very used to the ecig and almost off the analogs completely, ecigs make me much more relaxed

really was enjoying the poet and vgl, but not the after burn taste and crippling throat hit,
my friend tried it and almost choked! and that was a 6mg liquid.

seems also alot of liquids have no flavour and i cant even think about chasing clouds.

Also does the tongue tingling sensation go away?
any ideas?

Hello and welcome to ecf.
Yes, I agree with the above poster that pre-made coils always must first be primed with ejuice. It sounds like your coil has been burnt. Your nic content is not that high and the pico can run just about any tank you put on it that is around 22-23 wide. The nautilus is a good tank. I still have one in rotation for some of the ejuice I use in it.(like the taste and vape better). Once a coil has been burnt you may as well throw it out because you will never get that taste out of it. Prime as the previous poster said(no matter what type of coil you use) and let it sit for a few mins. This is done when you install a brand new coil.(any coil on any battery) and you will find a world of difference.
The .05 coil you have with the melo can be run at mouth to lung settings. The ranges listed on the coils are just suggestions. What you want to find is where your ejuice tastes the best to you, also referred to as finding your sweet spot(where you most enjoy the vape).
Before spending loads more $ go back to the vendor you purchased from and get more coils for your tank. Maybe take your ejuice with you and ask them to show you how to properly fill and prime the coil. Then shoot the breeze while the coil is still saturating then then turn the wattage down on the battery and take a hit. Then increase the watts a couple of times each time taking a hit....this will help you find where you most like your juice.
Hope this makes sense and helps a little.

Let us know
:)

5 holes in a Nautilus?? Never seen more than 4 in the BVC at 1.8Ω or 1.6Ω that I buy. What coils has 5 holes?
Was a little unsure, that's kind of why I said " like 5 holes" . I don't really count them and was trying to remember in my mind when I posted.

I wouldn't recommend the Melo 3 to anyone; I'm interested if the 1.8Ω coils (and a decent narrow drip tip, obviously) can make something OK out of it but no way am I dropping $15 on a whole box of coils to do so.

That said, I realize there is no way for me to evaluate the tank as it is on its own terms, used as intended, because that's just awful. I really don't know if such sub-ohm tanks inherently have no flavor (although even fans of such tanks say the Melo rates poorly) or they just clash so sharply with my vaping style -- actually, 2 vaping styles for 2 different types devices (both lower power), which is enough to switch gears between.

One more thing, as most here have mentioned, your symptoms sound more like a nic thing or perhaps a burnt coil . On the other hand you said your vaping low nic and you think the coil is fine, this brings me to one problem I did have once and is a possibility. If your tank is making a wonky connection or the mod has a wonky 510 pin , I have seen resistances jump up alot higher causing the mod to increase wattage , thus creating a horrid vape. When this happened to me I actually seen the mod read a resistance much higher than the coil. I either adjusted the mods center pin or the tanks and it was fixed. Just something to look for as it may or may not be what's actually happening to your set up

    Welcome and glad you joined.
Best advice I can give is start simple and try to learn every basic part of vaping, then step up to advance ways of vape. Some folks inadvertently sell the novice advanced equipment which multiplies vaping complexities. The poor learner is flooded with too many variables and never gets the basics down pat.
Recommend going back to the basics and read:

I don't want to sound disrespectful of others opinions but nothing wrong with your tank or box mod just get the triton 1.8 coils close the air flow some lower watts to 8-10 should be fine. In a way he did you a favor if down the road you want to try subohm or rtas or more advanced vape tanks your mod can handle them up to a point if not you will get good battery life.
