Black resiude on Joye chargers

Does anybody know what the black residue is that collect on Joye chargers and then subsequently seems to leak from EGo batteries. It collects on the batteries and forms a more solidified residue, but on the chargers themselves, it's more of a moist consistency and easy to remove with a paper towel.

Whatever it is, it often spells doom for my chargers, which then give a false charge reading and causes me concern over leaving the batteries unattended.

Joye USB chargers are a bag of crap most of the time, with their finicky wires, but this additional problem definitely shortens their lifespan.

could it be e-liquid? it seems to turn a yukky blackish greenish color when left on batteries, etc. I've gotten some used 510s that had it on them

Sounds like juice to me. Always keep an eye on your battery and clean off any juice. A q-tip or towel works just fine

Wipe down the connections on your battery before you connect it to the charger. I saw that often, it's ejuice that gets caught in current.

Just keep everything clean. Q tips work well for cleaning both the charger and battery connection.

You should give everything a quick swab with some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip every couple of days at the very least.

Juice gets on the battery then it gets on the charger. I keep qtips and alcohol handy for cleaning the atty connections, the battery end etc. It gets to be like some kind of tar or paint when it sets. No matter how careful you are it always seems to get on the contacts.

I wipe mine down every time I go to charge them. Also wipe the threads of the atty or tank connector every time you take it off the battery. I always get black stains off of the threads but never a gunky substance. I think it's because I always wipe the connections.

I'm pretty sure it's tarnish from juice oxidising the brass thread and contacts. I'm an OCD contact cleaner.
