* poor oral hygiene
* smoking tobacco
* drinking a lot of coffee or tea
* using antibiotics (which may disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in the mouth)
* being dehydrated
* taking medications that contain the chemical bismuth (such as Pepto-Bismol for upset stomach)
* not producing enough saliva
* regularly using mouthwash that contains peroxide, witch hazel, or menthol
* getting radiation therapy to the head and neck

I just noticed something on webMD...Ya I got curious and wanted to look at more pictures of hairy tongues...dehydration is one of the causes! Maybe since your switch to vaping, you have not been hydrating like you should. vaping causes dehydration and therefore we need to increase our water intake.

My tongue turned a little brown on my first couple days of vaping. Turns out I was enthusiastically refilling the two cartomizers that came with my overpriced starter kit--i now know they were both burned out, and I was probably getting some juice on there too, but I was determined to get my money's worth out of them. Once I got a batch of new stuff and realized a "burnt" taste was not necessarily a good thing my tongue is back to normal.

Well I'm sure you all will be happy as I am to know the problem is better. I gargled with salt water and it healed the soreness and then was able to get a real soft toothbrush and clean, it's not completely gone, but much better. I think the problem was I was too loosely juicing and since it started in the back I didn't notice it, plus I was using a hard bristles brush to brush and it kinda hurt. Oh well, live and learn. Also I think I might be a little dehydrated, lips constantly chapped although I use stuff, oh well that is for another forum. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it.

I've started using lip stuff about twice a day since vaping (not sure what brand it is because I've peeled off the label). During the first few weeks my hands would also feel dry more often than usual, but it could have been because I was washing them more to get juice off.
Definitely increase your water intake - it'll also help with flushing out the toxins from smoking.

lol....my hubby uses whiskey to burn out a sore throat....works for him everytime....so I was thinking of using the pga to gargle with....lol....I would think it would taste a bit better than peroxide and would definitely kill the germs....actually any higher proof alc. will do it. I could never use salt water...I'd gag and end up swallowing the stuff.....not very nice to the tummy....

As for the brushing of the tongue....I can't believe more dentists don't talk about it....I learned it in a biology class years ago....does no good to get your teeth clean just to touch them with a nasty tongue that has all the same stuff on it that you just cleaned off your teeth......oh and I gag every time too, but it feels much better when I am done:)
