Looks like you're doing great Kathy. Just wanted to add my 2 cents on something I did when I really wanted that smoke. Of course the first thing I would do was take a few really good puffs off the PV and that helped the most, but then I found something that was a great reinforcer for me personally. I went online to a few of those top-reasons-to-stop-smoking sites and just did some reading.

it might not work for everyone, and it wouldn't have worked for me without the added help of vaping, but reading all the info about how much my health would improve, knowing the money I was going to save, all the info on smokers mouth (gross), there's just so much about smoking that I knew, but really blocked out before. It's helped me along to look into that a little more now.

I'm still very new to this myself and still want one occasionally, but it's already a thousand times better than it was just last week and will probably be a thousand times easier next week. Keep trudgin along day by day and each of those days you'll wake up a little more proud of yourself. That's really the best feeling so far.

Kathy,
Thanks for getting this thread going - best one I've read since joining the forum !
I'm in the same boat, stuck between vaping/smoking. The last couple days I've been back-sliding, but hit the vaping hard today.
I've decided not to beat myself up and just keep grinding. The "junkie voices" in my head freak out when they feel threatened, so here's what I've figured out: I DO NOT have to quit smoking. I only need to stop for today.
If that doesn't work, then it's only for the next five minutes, etc. After that I can re-assess and go back to the old ways if I choose.
This is a take-off on AA's "One Day at a Time" thing, and I think it'll work.
Good luck to all of us ! :D

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one still smoking and vaping. Down to "only" 3 or 4 analogs a day (from about 1.5 packs before vaping.) The odd thing is, I don't really want the analog once I light it. More habit than anything else and I use them as "timers." I'll have a cigarette and then do whatever.....

May I suggest you try something that will take 5-10 minutes and may seem really strange- it worked for me. I've been using EFT on alot of things.

This explains what it is- sorry if this is a repost but this info is new to most and I hopr it helps

what it is-

YouTube - EFT Documentary Film -Try It On Everything

How to do it-

Your Set up statement might be something like- "Even though I need a few analogs each day, I fully accept myself or Even though my e-cig isn't a real cigarette I love and accept myself- last one was mine

how to do it- takes about 10 minutes the first time.

How to Do EFT Shortcut Method: Tapping Points Using EFT Short Cut

------------- edit --------------

oh yeah I'm now on day 6 zero analogs- good juice and tapping on the problem for 2-3 day 1-2 times each day about 8 days ago- does that make any sense?

Welcome KathyB ~ It's a great thing to do something for someone else, nice he encourages you to join him, and all that, it's your own mind-set that's got to make it work. (no offense, Steven.RN) I had a previous husband who would come home and smell my breath. Look in my purse. Wouldn't let me go downtown alone. He quit smoking and gained 200 pounds! That to me was not helpful at all, that was tyranny, out and out! Notice I said "Previous!" The smoking thing was one thing, but tyranny has a way of spreading to every aspect of your being, so watch that part! The day you forget what your own name is....well, anyway, you get my message. I stopped smoking cigarettes the day I got my first e-cig after 44 years of smoking, was totally surprised and happy. It works! And not to say I didn't struggle, not with nicotine withdrawal, but poorly working PV, dead batteries, running out of juice, etc. The only way to avoid all that (I wish I had known about this Forum!) is to find a device and the juice strength that suits your needs, (took a few 100 dollars!) but I finally did find one, feel guilty about all those I put back in the box and sent for another style, but I figure it was good investment, just for the learning curve! Have plenty of supplies within reach at all times (takes some planning ahead), NEVER run out of extra batts, attys, and juice, and be comfortable using it everywhere, just as you were comfortable where you smoked, and you shall overcome as well. My big thing was the "clean" feeling I had, no smells, no ash trays, and that last cigarette I had tasted worse than that awful juice I had! And I could breath again. I just cut back from 24mg/ml juice with plain VG (I had to stop Propylene Gloycol, was too harsh) now am at about 18mg/ml a couple weeks now, with no sign of any adverse effects at all. I may do it again later, cut another 25% down, we'll have to see! There's no rules, you are in control, and you should do just fine! Good luck!

I got my E-cigs and decided that no matter what I felt I simply would not allow myself to think about it. I told myself this is fine, you are still getting your nic fix. I began on 24 strength and in a week I was down to 11 and that is where I am today.

Found that I love strawberry, now strawberry is the addition I think, much better then analogs, so tomorrow I am dropping to 6 strength and you can see how long it has been and I TRULY HAVE NOT TOUCHED ONE ANALOG. In fact, I found 2 in a package I had stashed when I quit just in case 2 nights ago in my CD case. YEP, they are still there, did not appeal to me, and I will leave them there until they fall apart to remind me of what I AM NOT MISSING.

You can do it.
I was 21 days quit yesterday cold turkey (pack a day), I wish I knew about these 21 days ago lol.

I smoked 1/2 analog last night and I was really afraid I was going back. No way, it was AWFUL! My chest felt heavy, overall I felt like poo. This morning still felt like poo. No more.

But I do miss the act of smoking and am waiting on a Joye 510 for the wife to quit analogs and try it my self :) I think I may be able to just do the 0mgs and if the nicfix is still a problem, I'll just hit some of that.

Very Interesting! First time I've heard about this (of course I live in Ohio where some of us backwards corn field people are - ha!) I'll give it a try! Thanks for your post!

Thank you for your sweet message of encouragement! I am now day 7 without analogs and I do feel proud of myself! I feel better physically too. And you are right about going on-line for help. This forum alone has been wonderful.

Hi LoBoTex! Thanks for your post. You are so right about the "One Day at a Time" thing. That's how I've made it to Day 7 analog free! First day or so was the hardest. From all that I've read, I think if I even TRIED an analog at this point, it would make me feel so sick (physically), that I just keep telling myself it's not worth it....so I vape even harder and it seems to help and soon passes. YES - good luck to you and all of us!:)

Congrats on 7 days!!! I made it through a family reunion this weekend without resorting to analogs, so I'm pleased with how well the PV is working for me. There's nothing more stressful for me than being stuck with my family with no way to escape, since hubby had the car at work I had to ride with my Dad. If I can make it through that without wanting a cig I think I can make it through anything :).

What worked for me: 2 things
1) smoke it like an analog; take it in to your mouth and then inhale a large puff of smoke, your mouth can't tell it's not an analog (pending the right throat hit)

2) Don't think of it as quitting analogs, that puts a little too much on the line in case of relapse, think of it as switching brands. You wouldn't have anxiety if you were smoking a pack of Marlboros instead of your regular Camels, right?

I haven't had an analog since i got my PV a month ago.

Best of luck!
