Things are progressing fast. :) Here's another update:

v1.3
- Un-checking "Add flavourings" no longer resets fields, but will show results without flavourings upon calculating.
- Added "Reset flavourings" button to reset all fields in the flavourings panel and setting the base of the flavourings back to default (PG). It also resets the currency of all flavourings according to the main currency.
- Added a button to reset individual flavourings. This also resets the currency of this individual flavouring according to the main currency.
- Added social buttons to share this site. It's at such a state that it can be shared with the public.
- Random CSS corrections and tweaks.

Here's another update guys! It's been crazy at work this week, but I managed to squeeze some time to develop the calculator some more.

v1.4
- Added the option to save your results as PDF, so you can print them out or just keep a library on your computer.
- Before saving to PDF, you can name your bases and give the recipe additional notes for future reference (optional).
- You will not be able to save the PDF if the calculator encounters any calculation errors. However, you will be able to save it if you get a warning (for example negative values in any of the bases).

I've been thoroughly testing it the last two days, without errors. However, if you find any bugs please inform me so I can get them straightened out.

BLCC - Base Liquid Cost Calculator by Solkku

It's beautiful Sollku! Thank you so much for this. Just ran the numbers on my latest Vanilla Custard and it's $0.11/ml or $1.10 for a 10ml bottle. :D

I had no issues and everything is self explanatory. I didn't find anything weird or clunky about the operation. I love the breakdown in the results of how much of each ingredient is used. Makes the site double as a mixing calculator as well as a cost calculator.

I'll have to leave that tab open so I don't have to plug in my VG, PG and Nic costs again next time. ;-)

I think the only thing that would make it any more awesome would be the ability to save my ingredients and their costs. I can imagine that being a total PITA for you to program though. For now I'll just leave it up and re-enter my flavors as I come up with mixes I like.

Thanks for adding the ability to save the PDF. That's a great addition. I thought you were going to add a "buy me a beer" button...

Thanks johndoe for testing it out! :toast:

I have big plans for building around this calculator and all I can say is that saving your recipes is just one of the features. :2cool:

Oops, I did some final cleaning up in the design code and it seems I accidentally wiped out the buy me a beer button. :D

Edit: It's back! ;)

No worries. I found a nit-picky bug. The calculator works fine but when you save a PDF the cost of 1000mL is wrong. On mine it's the same as 30mL. Tried it a second time with the same result.

ETA - You like my signature, don't you? :)

Oh daamn! Thanks for finding this bug. I had forgot to replace the number 30 with 1000 in one place of the code that creates the PDF. It's now fixed.

I really do like your signature! Thanks for sharing it this way. :toast:

You are very welcome. It's the least I could do.

I was going to suggest the option to have the nic base be a mix of pg and vg and guess what? It's already there. I was also hoping to not plug in prices and just use it a mixing calculator. Also already an option. You da man!

My folder of BLCC printouts is growing every day.

I routinely mix 5ml and 15ml batches. What if, instead of having one custom quantity and 10, 30, 100 and 1000 automatic, you could have checkboxes for the quantities that are listed? You could leave the custom option for people that want to make 7 or 11.35ml but have checkboxes for 5, 10, 15, 30, 50, 60, 90, 100, 120, 250, 500 and 1000. I find myself having to look for the amount of the flavor I'm about to measure and I can see myself reading the value from the wrong section one of these days. If I had a printout with only 5 and 15ml it would leave less room for error and I'd still have the larger quantity in case I like that mix and want a bigger bottle later.

I'm not sure everyone would like this better, but I would. Of course, down the road, the quantities you last selected would be auto-populated once you log in. ;-)

Something I just realized that I NEED from the BLCC...

The percentages of the flavors to be on the PDF. It could be just before the flavor name.

e.g. 6% Strawberry = 0.6mg

Currently the flavor percentages are not on the PDF at all. That's the one thing that is missing to recreate and/or modify recipes from the PDF and only the PDF.

Have I mentioned that I just love BLCC and Solkku? :2cool:

If you add that I'll be buying you a really good beer. ;-)

I realize now that if you look at the 10ml measurements (like my example, for example) the percentage is pretty easy to figure out.

Looks like a great piece of software, but for some reason I can't enter any data in the fields. The page is active, as I can pull down things like pg, vg and change currency -- I feel stupid at the moment.

I just click in the field and type. I've done it on mac OSX (chrome) and android (stock browser and chrome). What OS and browser are you using? That might be helpful to Solkku.

Solkku, yet another thing I'd like is to have the option of naming the PDF when I save it instead of renaming it later. Lately I've been running the numbers on a few recipes back to back and I always forget to rename them as I go. Then I have to open each one to know what to name it. I know, I know, 1st world problems. ;)

Thank you for the improvement suggestions, I'll start working on them.

Btw, if you choose to use "Ask where to save each file before downloading" in Chrome, you can name the files before downloading. Since I always use that, I didn't even think about including a name. :) But I can see how it could be useful if you just download everything to one folder automatically.

backitdown, could you please provide me with some browser & OS specs? It should work on all platforms.

v1.5
- You can now name your recipe under "Target liquid". This is optional and will only matter if you choose to save it to PDF after calculating.
- If entered, recipe name will be displayed in the upper right corner of the PDF.
- If entered, the saved PDF will reflect the recipe name in it's filename, format: Recipename-BLCC-yyyy-mm-dd.pdf
- Flavouring dilute percentage will now show in the PDF, before the flavouring name.
- Fixed Firefox bug where you couldn't enter any amount into the form.

Good point. I have everything automatically save to my desktop to force me to file it appropriately (once my desktop gets hella cluttered). Having the recipe name automatically in the file name makes this way easier to archive.

Dude, you read my mind. I was putting the recipe name in the notes field which showed up at the bottom of the page. Having it at the top will be way more awesomer.

Anyone else have any input about selectable bottle sizes in the calculations? I hate suggesting things that no one else wants. Ooooo maybe this wouldn't be too hard to program. The way you have the flavorings. It's an inactive field until you type into it. You could do the same for mix quantities? Have like 3-5 possible fields and people can enter whatever they want. Maybe they want 3ml, 60ml and 1000. Or 5 10 and 15. Maybe they only want 17ml and no other quantity. I would say 3 options is a minimum and 10 would be overkill. Just thoughts spilling onto the keyboard here. If someone didn't enter any custom quantities it would revert to the defaults that are already there.

You've created a monster here Solkku. Told you I'm awesome at "design". I can dream up all of the most killer things with no regard to the headaches I'm creating behind the scenes. :D Have I mentioned that I think this is a beautiful thing you're doing? I like you. You can stay. :toast:

Thanks johndoe1027! :toast: Good thing I'm not banished from the forums. :D

How about inputting the custom amounts comma-separated? This way you can do 1 custom amount, or 20 if you so wish. For example: 3,60,17.5,110. That way we can get away with that one input-field and everyone should remain happy. ;)

Edit: I would of course need to make that field wider, so it's easier to see.
