Well iv just realized my supposedly organic cotton is bleached with hydrogen peroxide

Should I boil it? Or soak it?
If so how?

Btw iv been using it for about a month and I have always thought silca has had a better flavor. Even tthough a ton of people say cotton is better for flavor could this be why my cotton wicks havnt been living up to the hype...

Would boiling and/or soaking give a better flavor?

Hydrogen peroxide in small quantities is harmless. It decomposes into hydrogen and oxygen. Any H2O2 used to whiten cotton is long gone by the time you get it; if H2O2 sits open for any length of time, it becomes H2O by oxidation.

Whether or not you boil or rinse cotton is a matter of personal taste. Personally, I don't bother. If you do, take care to properly dry it as moisture is a good breeding ground for bacteria and mold.

H2O2 is basically water with an extra oxygen atom... it is very unstable and decomposes quickly into water and 1 free oxygen atom (gas) when exposed to light and other "oxidizable" materials ( clean iron for example), rinsing peroxide bleached cotton in plain water should get rid of any residual oxidized material from the cotton ( the slightly metallic taste).

If you do boil/rinse cotton, I would recommend using distilled water. Using tap water will add and leave any minerals/water treatment chemicals in your cotton from this tap water.
But, be sure to let the cotton fully dry throughout if you do boil/rinse. When I boil in distilled water, I do it twice(changing water between boils) and them lay the wet cotton on a piece of stainless steel mesh that I place on top of a large pot. This way air can get to the cotton from all sides. I leave it on this SS mesh for a couple of days or so to make sure it is completely dry all the way to the center. I check the cotton for dryness by opening up one of the cotton balls before placing the cotton in a plastic bag for storage.
