It is a way of saving things that you really want to keep track of and don't want to have to dig around to find again.
If you save it to your blog, you can access it through your Profile or (when you actually have a blog) a number will appear below your Avatar, join date, location, then posts. After posts there is a number next to Blog Entries. The number will tell you how many blogs you have.
Mine, I do believe, has 4. If you click on that number, it will take you to my blogs. Go ahead, check it out and you will see what they are and basically how they function.
Example:
Say you see a post that has a picture layout of how to build a coil, click on blog this post. It saves it to your blog and you can access it whenever you are ready and need the visuals.
