That is so amazing.

I was under the impression based on opinion by medical professionals that "even though you're substituting tobacco with vapor, you're still inhaling nicotine which increases blood pressure".

What Nic content do you vape?

Mine was ~125/75 a year ago.

Right after getting blood drawn (which is stressful) and vaping a whole lot right before the blood test, they got me in at 119/70 a week ago.

It fluctuates but consistently in that range.

Oh boy, my heart rate was at 55 as well. Still reaping the benefits of the days I used to run =) (was as low as 45 back then!)

EDIT: I am 24, so I have youth to an unfair advantage to most.

I thought nicotine was the culprit in cigarettes and high blood pressure too, but I have read threads where people had to be taken off their blood pressure medication because since vaping their blood pressure dropped considerably. My blood pressure usually ranged from 125/75 to 130/80. The three times I have checked it since vaping it has been ranging from 118/70 to 120/75.

Before I started vaping my BP was 230/110 and heart rate was in the 130's, and that was with taking 2 different very strong medications. I am now in normal ranges for both and my BP meds have actually been decreased some. While nicotine does raise BP, all the other crap they put in cigs raises it even more and when you quit smoking you will see and feel a huge difference in your numbers.

I have a history of HBP, even pre-smoking analogs. The only time it went down to normal was when I was on meds. I went off meds for about 1 year. Last month, my BP skyrocketed again. I'm going to the Dr in another month, we'll see how quitting smoking and vaping affected my BP. I'll have to let you guys know how my BP is at that time.

Wow, congrats to you guys for having lowered your bp. My resting heartrate has dropped about 22 beats per minute since I started vaping.

I was going to the gym for a few months and it was so hard to get results while smoking, there was little improvement, but within 10 days of stopping the analogs and using ecigs, there was a huge improvement. Every few days I can raise the difficulty level a little bit more and make my goals at the gym. Wasn't happening before.

I hope the vaping helps bring yours down. To be honest, it didn't even occur to me that vaping would bring down blood pressure. I happened to read a few thread of people who had posted that they had to be taken off their blood pressure medicine. Since mine was not high, I didn't check mine often, but hubby has high blood pressure and has an automatic one here so I checked mine out of curiousity. To my surprise it had gone down. (But I had been smoke free about a month at that point, and only 3-4 a day for a few weeks before that) Now I check it every time my hubby does just for the fun of it. Hopefully you will see an improvement in yours too! *crosses fingers*

I have been on B.P. meds for years. I am still on them..but now they are working! I have even had low readings. I do vape low nic 11mg to 0nic so that may be a factor. I was smoking ultra lights..so much for the ultra part..lol! I am a firm believer it's not so much the nic but the other 3,999 chemicals that raise B.P.
Happy Halloween!

nic will jack your heart rate, as will lack of oxygen (I'm an EMT but I think everyone knows that) and *thats* why I don't vape 36mg anymore just before bed LOL, you lay down and wonder: "Where's the race?"

Having said that, vaping delivers less nic and doesn't flood your lungs with 4000 things that are not air...so your lungs have it a lot easier supplying oxygen, and your heart takes a break cause it's job just got 100x easier, and the unexpected benefit is that your blood pressure drops to less insane figures. Mine fell too which was nice.

When you smoke, you run the risk of getting burned inside and out. Whether tobacco is smoked, chewed, or taken in by any other means, the nicotine in the tobacco raises the blood pressure.
The more you smoke, the higher the nicotine level is in your blood, and the higher your blood pressure. This accounts to a large extent for the great increase in brain attacks, heart attacks, and pain in the legs due to poor circulation in smokers, sometimes leading to amputation.

This is a quote from Stop Smoking tips.com.

I have high blood pressure and recently went to the doctor and my usual B/P of l53/78 and he started me on medications. Its the nicotine that causes this. If you lower you nicotine intake then it makes since you B/P should drop. I guess I am getting as much nicotine as I was smoking.

That why we should all try to reduce our nicotine intake.

Good point. And I am smoking 18mg during the day, but 0s and 8s at night when I tend to vape the most. So I guess it is good to move downward with the nic once you have fully adjusted to vaping and the urge for a smoke is gone. Particularly if you tend to have high blood pressure. I still need the 18 during the day when I can only get a puff or two every so often. But at night the low nic is perfect for me. Maybe I will try the 11s for daytime vapeing and see if that holds me.
