I have read a lot that most people who switch to the e cig have gone to the doctors within 6 months to a year later and they say their blood pressure has lowered. However i have also read that within 20 minutes of quitting smoking that your blood pressure goes to normal. So my question is did it take 6 months to a year to get it lowered after switching to ecig?

Also i have quit smoking once before cold turkey for 7 1/2 months. I have never coughed up as much tar as i am this time with quitting using the ecig. I think the pg/vg is helping to clear my lungs faster than it did quitting cold turkey.

Can't really comment on the lung clearing, cos I only coughed up a little in the first couple of weeks.

But as for blood pressure. I know mine had come down within 3 or 4 days of vaping full time. Then within 2 months it had settled to the level it is now. I've been vaping around 10 months now. I know a few other people that have lower BP through vaping too :)

I have my blood pressure monitored regularly and mine went down within a couple of weeks.
More importantly, after one year and a bit of vaping, my blood pressure and heart rate rise and fall as they should. Within a couple of minutes of rigorous exercise my vitals drop to normal now.
As for the coughing up phlegm, i had loads thick brown mucus for about a week. You may find that vaping heavy VG juice will promote mucus though. You may be coughing up the tar and the VG.

I was at the docs yesterday, after vaping all day, and a few stealth hits in the exam room waiting for him to come in, I measured out at 118 / 72 Better than when I smoked, and he's not as concerned about my oxygen levels in my blood anymore..:).. as always YMMV

edit: because I can't type numbers....

First off, I never experienced my anticipated 'lung cleansing' since vaping. Will say that I did go through the pimple/scalp eruption stage early on.

As to my BP history, within six months of vaping, my BP dropped 15 points on both my systolic and diastolic, and holding steady! Plus my O2 absorption level went from 92 to 99. AND, that's not counting the disappearance of my emphysema scare of five years ago!!!

The lung butter can take a while, sometimes. I haven't had any yet, either, other people have it right away.

I can feel that mine is down. I quit using a lot of salt, as mine was on the edge of high years ago, and after losing some weight and cutting salt I got it into "great" range, according to my doc. I can feel when it gets elevated, it's one thing that always bothered me with smoking, and I can still feel it when I chain vape.

But, overall, the health benefits are really showing since quitting in October. I sleep really well, I'm not snoring, according to certain sources, I have more energy, no lethargy in the morning, and I have a ton more stamina when working out. I love it!

188/70 . Mine was at 126/80 the other day and that is normal high zone. 188 is high isn't it?

Here's some irony for ya! I've always had clinically low blood pressure, but smoking seemed to keep it elevated to where it wasn't a problem. When I switched, it went down to the point where now I have to watch it carefully. Probably consuming more salt would help, but now that my taste buds have reawakened, I don't want more salt! So now I'm just very very careful about standing up too fast...

My BP wasn't massively high to the point that I need meds or anything like that. But as I have to have occasional health checks, the Dr would always say "your BP is a little on the high side". It was a self fulfilling prophecy though, whenever I went for a check up I knew the BP would be elevated so I'd worry about it more, so obviously it would go up :( Now, no problems at all.

+1 on the snoring too, I used to wake the whole street up

My blood pressure went back to a healthy 118-120/72-74(from roughly 128/82-90) after quitting analogs.

As for the lungs, I can say that I didn't cough up as much 'gunk' as I thought I would. At the first week of vaping I was expectorating some lovely gray to black colored phlegm(gross, I know. sorry folks!). This was for about 7 days and then it abruptly stopped. At the 2 week mark, when my cilia began to grow back & function normally, I expectorated gray phlegm for about another 5-7 days. After that, my wheezing ceased as well as my need to constantly breath through my mouth. My sinuses immediately cleared and I find I breathe better and sleep better.

There's another point I'd like to raise as I've not seen it mentioned anywhere. When I started vaping, I bought juices at 80/20 & 70/30 PG/VG ratios. I had an annoying/constant film in my throat that caused me to continuously clear my throat. It wasn't until I discovered Bryce's Custard that I learned why. I remember whining on the Bryce's Facebook page that I didn't like 50/50 ratio and I believe I said something like '50/50 ratio sucks'. Anyway, long story short-I purchased it anyway due to the rave reviews. And voila! The filmy nuisance was eradicated! Shortly afterward, I heard of NicoTicket and their custard as well which I believe may be at 60/40 ratio. Needless to say, with both of these vendors-I discovered that the higher PG content I was purchasing was actually causing the film at the back of my throat!! And since this is mainly the only 2 I vape-I know for certain it was the high PG, in my case, that caused this strange side-effect. So....now, with higher VG ratios than I originally purchased, I am a much happier vaper. When I do stray to try something different these days-I opt for 50/50 or 60/40 ratio as that is what works for me as an individual.

Ahhh, the blood pressure, my nemesis. Mine is up and down like a yoyo and has been for years. Bought a BP kit a few years ago, but don't use it anymore as I can pretty much tell what my BP is by the way I feel. Near stroked out a few years ago, running 240/160, felt like I was dying.

Coffee is my other addiction, i'm the "full pot in the morning or someone is going to get hurt" kind of guy, then usually a pot during the day. After day 2 of vaping, my coffee addiction is gone, done. I've had one cup of coffee today, no headaches from withdrawl, and no real urge to make a pot. That one I can't understand...

I won't take medications unless it's life threatening - and I didn't take any blood pressure meds either. If you want something more natural to control blood pressure, reach for the heat. Capsicum in any hot pepper - the more the merrier will normalize your BP faster than any drug. When my BP went double over, cayenne pepper powder in water down the hatch brought it back to normal in a half hour.

My BP has been normal for the last couple of days.

Try some gourmet salts, like sea salts or flavored salts.
If you don't like those, you might as well retire your taste buds.

Interesting story.

Most people get that "film" thing from too much VG in their juice.
I know I do.

Same with the extra phlegm thing.

As for me 50% VG is all I can stand.
But I did just order some of that Bryce's Vanilla Creme Custard.

I hope it doesn't screw me up too bad.
