Hi all

I was rather enjoying my kensei rta for the first week, when I got this horrible dry burnt hit today. I took a look at the side of the tank and could almost see a little red seeping into the juice. Disassembled the tank and jeeeeeez!

What is that red? Rust?

If it was rust it would be closer to the coils.

It looks like it's the opposite, further away.

My guess would be it's flavouring in the e-liquid that is getting hot but not hot enough to vaporize all of the ingredients inside of the liquid, leaving behind this stuff.

I get it occasionally. No big deal. Dryburn & Rewick.

Actually that wick doesn't even look that bad. I've seen worse. And yes, the darker stuff you can sometimes see coming back into the tank from the juice hole is just caramelized juice and not anything bad or dangerous. If your find the flavor of your vape falling off it's time to rewick. I wouldn't base it only on the appearance of the wick.

Not really but it reinforces my perception that you tend to not put enough cotton into your coils.
I agree on this......from the pics of your wicks and also to much popping sounds like you need to use a bit more wick in your coil

I get more pops on new coils, they just work much better. I can never wash/burn/wipe off enough junk to get them as good as new. A toothbrush is good but I need one of those brushes that get the inside and back of the coil too for my bad gunking juices. As other said I have wicks that look much worse after 2-3 days... I really gotta cut back on sweetener.

Cool method of cleaning. I sincerely doubt that is rust. I think you need more wick, too. I know i solved all my wicking problems by switching to rayon, but I think you are underwicking your coil too much, and that is a very common cause of popping, spitback and etc. If you feel like it's too much wick, keep it pretty tight in the coil, and then thin out the tails some. But yes, you really need more wick.
