Hey guys,

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends!

I am going back to my roots so to speak and looking for a cigarette style device to be used as my main PV. Over the past while, my vaping has decreased dramatically but I need something for when I go out and know I will be faced with analog triggers - when drinking, going out to clubs etc. I've even considered quitting vaping but I don't want to put myself in the position where I go out "empty handed" one night and start smoking again. I'm not that confident yet!

Because of my new vaping habits, I am looking at the two seemingly "high end" analog lookalike models. I am looking for any and all opinions from people who have used one or the other, or preferably both and could give me a bit of a comparison...

Important things to me are how easy the cartomizers are to refill and how long I can make a cartomizer last me. Being in Canada, supplies can be hard to come by at times and although our Canadian dollar is as strong as ever, we still pay higher prices for pretty much everything! Thus, I'd like to make an informed decision on this one.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers!!

I've been using a Smokestik Hendu Elite for a bit over a month now. The build quality is top notch, it's a very solid feeling PV. I have acquired a 510 based unit so I could experiment more with options though. There doesn't seem to be much on the market here for the RN-4081. The RN-4081 is slightly larger diameter than the 501, and the threading is heavier, which I think is a plus. All the cartomizers I've put on threaded on smoothly.

The cartomizers have a horizontal coil, and i've taken a few apart and found no burning on the polyfill. In fact, a used one that i took apart after a 10 min boil didn't even have caramelized sugar on the wick/coil, the wick was completely white and the wire was completely clean. They do cost more than cartomizers from other vendors though and are not available unfilled (I do like their "tobacco" flavor).

I've been using one for 3 weeks (not daily though) that still works fine. I've had no issues at all with thinner and clearer juices. I fill by popping off the end cap, dripping into the fill, and letting it absorb. I did not have much luck with pure VG though, I've had a couple I've discarded after 2-3 days of use and topping up with VG. The vapor and flavor production dropped off dramatically. I didn't try cleaning them, although that probably would have allowed me to re-use.

Carto's seem to be around 4 ohm, i'm guessing the battery is regulated and likely 3.2v range. I do get more vapor and warmth dripping on a LR510 atty, but overall I do like the draw, temperature, vapor production and flavor out of the Smokestik carts. If you hold a lungful, there isn't a lot of vapor on the exhale which is good for stealth vaping.

I don't know how much juice is in a filled carto. Wet weights have varied between 4.6 to 5.0 grams, and I find when I feel they are almost done, they weight in around 4.1-4.2. Boiled and dried, they weigh in at around 3.9. I'd guess around 1ml.

Customer service is also exceptional. I had a flaky LED on my USB charger and a new one was sent out literally half an hour after I emailed, no questions asked. I also had technical questions about the device and received a call back from a tech to discuss the charging circuit, the pressure switch, how it deals with atmospheric pressure changes, etc. It was a geeky, but great conversation, totally beyond my expectations.

Hope this help! And of course YMMV (had to throw in the disclaimer :) )

Thanks for such a thorough breakdown of the Smokestik! Does the Hendu Elite only come in the one color? And yes, I've heard awesome things about their customer service which is another reason I am looking at their product.

Here in Canada, we can only order the cartomizers with no nicotine, so that's a bit of a deterrent for me...whatever flavor I refill with might be "tainted" for a bit :p

It does only come in the brushed stainless. I prefer that to a polished metal finish as it doesn't pick up fingerprints. I think from an innards standpoint, it's the same as all their regular length batteries (the Pit Bull is longer and has a higher mAh battery). I also like the jewel top compared to the gray plastic faux-ash look.

I hate to say it, but aesthetics were somewhat important to me. If something comes in a stainless, titanium, or carbon fibre version, that's the one I always want heh heh.

it's kinda subtle ...it's a white LED behind the "jewel"...so although the material looks dark purple, the light it gives off (in my eyes is more whiteish purple... it definitely wasn't as bright as I thought it would be.

My only other frames of reference are a Greensmoke and Blu that a couple of my co-workers have, and on those ones, the whole end lights up and it's pretty noticeable...

I've found that in daylight and inside, it's harder to tell when the Smokestik is "on" compared to the others... in the dark and head on, you see the LED mostly on the point of the jewel in the center, and the facets are darker. There is a bit of a sparkle effect, but in my opinion, it's still not as noticeable as a solid dot of color.

I have heard nothing but good things about the bloog maxx fusion... I believe it's a KR808-D1, and HappyVaper in Toronto carries a great starter kit complete with a slick PCC.

It's not the cartomizers that will be hard to come by... They are plentiful everywhere. Finding a way to get your hands on nic juices in Canada around the end of May is the big challenge!

Can't comment directly on the SmokeStik; never tried it. [The vapor coming out of Katherine Heigl's and David Letterman's mouths in this video is not staggering. I think that's SmokeStik. Right?]

I am gaga about the Bloog MaxX Fusion and recommend it to anyone who will listen. I reviewed it here ... and have ordered replacement batteries and many cartos since then. [My favorite prefilled flavor is 555, but don't get it if you don't like a nutty taste. If you are a menthol vaper, be aware that their "Menthol" tastes more like mint cream: not bad, but not menthol.]

I am pleased to hear that it is being sold by a Canadian supplier. This is too good to be limited to any one country.

I bought a Bloog MF going by the reviews I saw on here- at first, I was happy with it, but then it malfunctioned, and that led to my 'less than satisfying' customer service experience...emails didnt go through, messages unanswered, and then one of the reps simply told me to stop PMing him asking what the status of the return was...a call to Mike supposedly straightened it out...I don't know, because its been two weeks and I still havent received my replacement, which I'm told will NOT be the fancy battery I paid for, as they are not in stock, I dont care how great a product is 'supposed' to be- bad customer service ruins it- In the meantime, I ordered a clone- a KR808d1 from NHaler- received it in 2 days, and am happily using it and like i said still waiting for the MF replacement...

I can get pretty reasonable vapor from the smokestik pitbull- just depends on what you refill with (I prefer reasonable vapor over huge vapor anyway). It has a red jeweled end and is the PV that is being used by Catherine Heigel in the first part of the video. The SS cartos are pretty burn resistant, so i get as many refills as it takes until the atomizer wire gets clogged. SS has websites in Canada and America although I think the cartos sold in Canada don't contain nicotine. They don't sell blanks.

I haven't tried the Bloog- but have other (manual) kr8s. Although i like both, ATM I'm using the pitbull more frequently than the kr8s.
