Sorry if there was a confussion, but no, I do not own a trifecta.
However, I do know quite a bit about it.
It's a battery, that can change from auto, to manual, to pass
through. Something Leafords been wanting to perfect ever since he worked with V4L (they didn't approve). Though, it's similar to the original bloog bats; the switch and airflow sensor aren't as quick as the newer max fusion bats. This is an upgrade we're waiting on, it is in the works. I also believe the trifecta is regulated at 5 volts, and the new ones will be at 3.6, just like the bats.
As for your question, in theory, you're correct. I've never heard of one dying yet. But even if that were to happen, it would still function as a usb pass
through. Now you've made me curious.. I think I'm gonna have to go ask Leaford.
