Yo. kestrel1940, Don't let these blu haters turn you off to a good choice. Like you I am also new to vaping. I did alot of research on e-cigs and initially wasn't going to go with blu, that is until I seen that they had cartomizers. Just like you I jumped in head first and ordered them. I have to say that I am overly impressed with their performance. The shipping was pretty fast, I ordered Feb. 3 and recieved them Feb. 11. I am still vaping on the cartomizer from yesterday. I remember reading on some forum, that the draws were inconsistent. NOT THE CASE. I dont know were these other people got theirs but mine is ......ing tight. I cant put the damn thing down. I am making the switch to these from anologs with no problems. Being new to vaping, I am also a very quick learner. I havent ran out of juice in my cartomizer yet, but when I do I am planning on washing and reusing. I tested to see if I could take the a**hole out of it and it pops right out. I took a fork and did it, and I saw that there is no rubber stopper in the inside of it. The cap that I removed is hard plastic, but it is not glued in or anything, pops right out.
The cartomizer itself is metal with some type of paper around it. I got the BLACK starter kit. Very satisified, and Hell no I do not work for blu. I am a real one.

The main concern with Blu is not the cartomizers or carts (though the previous atty/cart system did have some major design problems that could lead to inconsistent hits), but the quality and longevity of the battery and their proprietary lock-in. The latter can be solved, as there are other atties and cartos that work on the Blu battery without adapters and are significantly cheaper. The former can only be solved by going to a bigger battery, which doesn't exist.

If you're looking for a super-mini PV and either don't intend to use it very often or are okay with carrying around a PCC and several batteries, you could do much worse than Blu. But then you can also do much better than Blu. You just lose some of their "sexiness".

I don't think any of the "sexiness" is lost on a KR808D-1 or an eGo. I certainly don't think any of the "steampunk sexiness" is lost on my Chameleon or my Indulgence. Then again, "sexiness" wasn't my main concern for buying any of my PV's. I wanted longevity, consistency, low maintenance and the ability to change my vaping configuration without a lot of hassle.

While Blu works for some people, it doesn't work for everyone because it's abilities are limited and the batteries just aren't sufficient for heavy smokers.

I took a Blu cartomizer apart because it starting getting a chemical taste. Not sure if this is normal but the inner tube was burnt to a crisp, black, nasty and had a hole in it where the atty filament sits.

Sounds like you vaped it dry. While cartos are technically disposable, if you keep them topped up with fluid they'll last you quite a long time. I don't know about Blu cartos, but with the kr8 cartos I use I top up 7-10 drops every hour or so of vaping and have yet to burn one out.
