Throat hit is 90% due to the nicotine level, so the suggestions of higher nic liquid is on the mark. But it is enhanced by warmer vapor. The fixed voltage eGo batteries are the weakest voltage batteries on the market, so I would not recommend them when wanting good consistent throat hit. I would get a good VV or VW (variable watt) model PV with VW being the better option and one with removable batteries that will cost much less and last longer than the VV ego type batteries. An inexpensive option in this category is the the VW Vamo.

However, Blu is such a bottom of the barrel model PV, most other options will be better.

Anything you get is going to be better than what you started with. I personally enjoyed the ego passthrough for a start and.then I moved on to Variable.Voltage evo twist to make the vape hotter and from there I purchased the Vamo which is variable voltage and variable wattage. Each of.these purchases were within the last 6 months so you may decide you want to skip ahead to a mod, but I found this progression worked for me to stay away from the analogs. About 5-5 1/2 years ago I purchased a Silver Bullet mod to start with and I failed miserably, I should have started smaller. Your tastes will chamge the longer you stay away from analogs, this is true for a few things taste in juice, heat and nic level, and even the size of pv will matter less (I kind of lile the silver bullet now). whatever you decide to do just dont rush into a huge purchase right off the bat, start off with an ego kit, passthrough or twist and continue to use that until it.just doesnt do it.for.you anymore and then look at something else.

I have to say that for the price, the Katana from Vape Dojo is a good place to start. For $12.99 and a bottle of juice, you would have a much better set up for the price of 2 disposables. Seriously, get it and try it. Even if you only try it at home, you can still look for something smaller for out and about vaping.

For a more cigarette look, check out 901t Advanced Starter Kit - uniquecigs.com. The kit comes with everything. It is about the size of the Blu disposable, comes with sample cartomizers, 6 blank tanks, a PCC, and a bottle of juice for $80.

VAMO Variable Volt/Watt APV V2

This is good advice. If you buy a smaller ego type battery with fixed voltage it is what it is and most likely will not suit your needs.
Something with VV or VW you can adjust and the heat and dial in a TH you desire. You may also want to get something like the Vamo for home and a cig a like for in public. You will find eventually you'll be fine in public with what you use at home as well, but I get where your coming from.
A Vamo kit can be had for fairly cheap $60 ish or less if you order from China. With multiple battery config options the size can be reduced on the go. It can last you days if your not constantly vaping and if you look around it's highly recommended for the features and price point.
I would also check out PBusardo on youtube. He reviews everything and you can get an idea of what your getting into.
Good luck!

I was in your shoes about 2 weeks ago. The options can make your head spin. As pretty much everyone said, pretty much anything is a step up from the Blu disposables. I used them for a few days at work, and they served their purpose, but I knew it wasn't a long term solution.

I bought a Halo Triton starter kit. Also bought several 7ml sized juices and some blank cartomizers. Couldn't be happier. From my limited experience...

They seem big, but they're not. My Triton with tank is about the size of a sharpie marker. The diameter is the same size as a AA battery. It's not heavy. It's slightly longer than a Blu disposable. If you can easily carry a Blu disposable, the difference between it and the Triton is pretty much negligible.

There's so much more flavor, vapor and throat hit.

Don't try to get the same flavor as your cigarettes, as that'll be a endless and unneccessary battle.

I didn't think I'd like sweet and/or flavored juices. Tiki Juice to me tastes like cherry coke and vanilla. It's my favorite. HX3 tastes something like a slightly tobacco flavored hazelnut. My second favorite. Menthol Ice tastes more spearminty than menthol, but that's my work flavor and somehow the most satisfying vape. No idea why it's the most satisfying, but it is.

The Blu disposables are 24 mg of nicotine, so I went with that strength. I feel more of a nicotine buzz, so I don't vape as much.

The pg/vg ratios are confusing. I bought the Halo juices to keep it simple, as there's no option in that regard and I think each flavor has its own ratio.

I thought filling juices would be a pain in the rear end, but it's very simple; simply unscrew the top of the tank or
or pull the cap off a cartomizer and drip some liquid in. Takes a minute or so.

Tanks are so much better than cartomizers. Better draw, far more flavor and subtle flavors coming through, and you can see exactly how much you've vaped and need to refill. With a cartomizer, you have to guess.

Tanks aren't any less durable than cartomizers in my limited experience. They look fragile, but I've kept them in my pocket all day at work with no issues.

I went with Halo due to its hardware and juice reviews, and it's a one-stop shop for me. I'll try juices from other vendors eventually, but I'm still keeping it simple.

This isn't a Halo ad. I can't say they're the best, as there's really no one best thing for every single person and I haven't tried anything else.

At the end of the day it was a bit of a leap of faith with buying what I bought. While there's differences between the Triton and eGo stuff, I don't think they're night and day if your comparing comparable items. Halo didn't give me anything others vendors weren't, and I didn't see others vendors giving away anything Halo wasn't.

My best advice is keep it simple, get a true sense of what a basic setup (above disposables) can do for you, then fine tune it after you've sorted out what's what.

Even though I do agree with most all these replies...an ego is a step up from the transition. You need to get hooked in ecigs before you become an ex smoker and a new vaper....I used njoy and stuff like blu. Then went to 510 sized stuff. Then an ego style (still use them) now I have mods and tanks and rba attys and vv/vw.....anyway. I ran across a cig looking thing that I think I kight get for out and about. The go eroll or ovale emini (both the same thing). It is a mini sized device so it looks like a cigarette. Uses a tank system so its easy to use and gets you used to vaping and has a charging case (pcc personal or portable charging case) the small unit will last about 30 puffs on its own but can be charged 10 times or so in the case. So you use it like a smoker. Pufff for 5 minutes then put it back in the case. Just google it because lots of vendors have it. Get liqyid at the same time. Then once you are off smokes and on to vaping get an ego kit with a ce4/5 or T3 (youll knkw what yhat means by then).

Get this and you will be golden! I didn't read the whole thread but I wanted to chime in. Sorry if you have already ordered. This is a simple kit that most of us will recommend to new vapers or to vapers who are currently using the stick batteries and just want more. It comes with everything you need other then liquids. It's a fill and go system that's great for people who are always on the go.

I am a newbie myself, but learning fast. I was a pack a day American Spirit smoker. This is what I found that works for me.

DISCLAMER: I do not work for or get financial compensation from any of the companies I link to. These are just the first page links from google searches.

KGO-vv Mega--This is a (relatively) small mod at a decient price point. It has variable voltage so you don't have to worry about finding the right resistance cart/tank/arty to fit your device, they all work with the right voltage!

Kanger T3--This is the best I have tried (so far) easy draw with a good throat hit and great flavor. Seems to last a long time with me constantly vaping as well. Plus, it looks good on the KGO.

"Cuban" Juice from The Vapor Room-- I get the Cuban in 18MG; 75/25 PG/VG; I get it with a double shot of flavor and it tastes good. I have found nothing that tastes just like a cigarette, but this is fairly close to tobacco.

Hope this helps you out!

If you get the kit from myvaperstore you will have variable voltage. The batteries are also regulated. This means if you set it at a certain voltage your vape will stay at that voltage even as the battery drains. Something like the V Mod will not have variable voltage and will not be regulated. This means your vape will get weaker as the battery runs down just like with your Blues. The one I recommended is about the size of a cigar and will have a dial on the bottom. Turn it up for more throat hit or down for less. It goes up to 4.8 volts. The unregulated e cigs like the v mod will start off at 4.2 volts and drain down to about 3.4 volts before you charge the battery. If you set the vision spinner or ego twist battery at 4.8 volts it will put that voltage out no matter what unless you turn the voltage down. Also I would not go over 50% PG. You may get a sore scratchy throat if you do. It's no fun. You can get plenty of throat hit from 50% PG and higher voltage without all the irritation in your tongue and throat.

I recently switched to a VV mod but before I was using a V2cig with their liquimax blanks. Prefilled cartridges (the ones attached to the disposables) are absolute crap. If you're not ready to upgrade to a larger battery just yet, get a Blu battery and a tank system for it. As I don't use Blu I'm not sure if they sell a tank system, I just know V2 does and it made a WORLD of difference. Ditch those prefilled cartridges!!
