hey, look at that. my first thread makes it into the review section.

i just went to the store today and bought some juice and prefilled carts for my generic e-cig. the generic juice that comes in the small bottle that says "Marlboro" and "Med" is what i used to fill a cart (PTB) and used it with my generic e-cig. it worked really well, good throat hit and vapor, but when i tried it on the Blu i got the same old little to no vapor and zero throat hit. so now i am convinced i either have a defective unit, or Blu just is not for me...

thanks for the info mistress.

i just started to type that i didnt want that much throat hit, but maybe i shouldnt be too picky and limit myself. i recall a post made by someone saying not to limit yourself by any one thing. i also read somewhere else that there is a chance that i eventually wont care if my ecig is nothing like a real cig. having said that, i am in the military and i dont want this giant tubule looking thing that could get me in trouble. perception is everything in the Air Force.

so the 510 seems to be very popular around here. the kr8 seems like a good choice too. i was thinking i should go for the manual battery but i drive and smoke so i am afraid i will wreck doing that. but which 510 to order? where to order it from? i want to buy juice and make my own carts, does the 510 offer this easily? i saw the video of that guy using the pyramid tea bag mod, and i am very intrigued.

holy cow! i am so overwhelmed right now. im looking in your library and vendor list. its massive! i have done a lot of research before, purchasing and for college, but this is kinda ridiculous...

freedom usa sounds good, but there is something about the site i dont trust. one stop DIY shop looks interesting and is definitely the type of thing i am looking for. there are just so many places to buy from. i guess i will prolly go for the Joy 510 since it seems to be on every site i have looked at so far. thinking of going with the 510 pcc kit on clouds of vapor.

sigh, so much to read.

i just bought another 510 from freedomsmokeusa and they gave me a 10ml of any choice flavor and a nice 3ml sample of wyatt special blend, it was very nice it was i think 40$ total. mine are both manuals , and i have no prolem smoking it while driving, you just hold it different

I saw that you mentioned worrying about wrecking with a manual. I assure you there is no problem with that. You get used to pressing the button while holding the unit VERY quickly. In less than a week it will feel natural. Trust me, automatics bite. You don't want to mess around with primer puffs and accidental misfires from having your window down.

I have manual battery. Decided I wanted manual because I want that battery sealed off in case I overload my cartridge, etc. I do Not see myself using anything other than a manual battery. Ever. But that's just me.

Trust me, you will have No Problem driving with a manual battery. I do it all the time and I drive a straight stick truck.

i have been leaning more and more towards a manual everyday. getting inconsistent vapor and throat hit, even if it is only sometimes, is starting get on my nerves.

We started with the Blu's, but had problems from the beginning with not getting good hits off of them. Ordered new atty's for them which had a slightly longer wick on them when they arrived. Those worked better, but still not great. We switched to 510's and let two of our friends have the Blu's to try out and see if they wanted to switch from cigarettes to e-cigs.
The Blu's worked but not as well as they would like. We happened to have a couple of reg 510 atty's and carts that came with our kits and found out that those fit the Blu's. Once they started using the 510 atty's and carts on the Blu's they started getting awesome hits and have now joined the ranks of non-smokers, vaping only. :toast:

They are planning on getting 510's soon and the Blu's will be passed forward to the next couple who want to try them out along with the reg size 510 atty's and carts that seem to have solved the problem of not getting a big enough hit off of the Blu's. :D

For a beginning vaper, do yourself a favor and pick up an eGo kit from Puresmoker.com. They're $50 right now (not affiliated, just an awesome price :))

MadVapes has a Boge 510 kit with 2 batts, 2 attys, 5 carts, and a charger for $34.00
And, if you get deeper into it, like I did after my first week, they also have mod parts. (Building a 5v passthru, myself. We'll see how it goes.)

I've been using the 808 for getting close to a year now, both manual and auto. I prefer the auto, and have totally switched to those. I've never had a problem with my auto going off when I didn't want to. I carry it in my pocket, and unless I puff on it, it just sits there and does nothing, just as it should. Inside, outside, it's a non-issue for me cause it never happens. Primer puffs are also completely unnecessary. Just put it in your mouth and inhale and you get vapor.

On another note, as far as performance vs blu goes, there is no comparrison. A guy I work with has the blu, and I can generate massive clouds of vapor while his is pathetic. Even on the exhale I get more vapor than from just mouth puffing the blu, and when he exhales it's just a tiny little puff.

Whatever kind you end up buying defind, concrats on getting off cigs. I went from a 1/2 to a full pack a day habit to now vaping one or two cartomizers per WEEK. Incredible savings in $$ and I feel awesome compared to when smoking.

I used my Blu for about 6 weeks. It worked. But it was unsatisfying...always messing with it, recharging, dripping, dipping, filling those tiny little carts with 5 drops...it was a full time job just to smoke it.

I ordered my eGo after that and i've been using it ever since. An eGo XL battery with a cone atty and XL cart lasts me almost a whole day. Love it!

I don’t think the Blu sucks. In fact, I think it is Very cool. I love the size. Reminds me of some kind of James Bond gadget. Small and Sexy.

That said, it was completely impractical for me being a PAD smoker. The carts were so small I was filling constantly and the battery life was terrible. For someone who only smoked one or two cigarettes a day, a Blu might be just the thing for them. But for me it just didn’t cut it.

So I’m not going to bash the Blu. It worked fine.

They are "ranked" high, they are advertised like crazy, and the Blu company is making tons of money off of these things, even though the device sucks. Underperforming, unreliable units that are not worth the money. How can a company sell junk and still be making bank? Their advertisements are well played, and they are active in the e-cig world beyond selling. They make their presence known online, at conferences, and conventions.

They might not have the best product, but they sure do know how to run a business.

I have a blu, and while I don't think the prefilled carts have a very strong flavor, I do get quite a bit of vapor. One of my batteries did mess up, so I'll be sending that back for another one. I ordered an eGo, but I'll also be keeping my blu and refilling on my own. Also, at $70 for 2 attys, 2 batts, PCC, USB charger, 25 carts, and a 1 year warranty, I don't feel like I got taken.
