And that's a good thing?

I didn't say it was good, bad, or otherwise. How would I know how it's going to turn out?

What I do know is the golden rule - he with the most gold, rules. Any of us could have bought Blu. But we didn't. So, whining about it is like whining about who gets elected when you didn't vote.

You're on the sidelines. Sit down, shut up, and enjoy the show.

Or...gather your own gold, and do something about it.

The world doesn't owe you cheap and easy nicotine in a harm reduced format.

If having that is important to you, then provide it for yourself, or be ready to pay someone else to provide it for you....probably at the best price they can get for it. That's the way the world works, and has worked since we were little more than monkeys.

Interesting thread that I hope remains civil as it contains some valuable insights. Sadly, my own view is that BT may have indeed stumbled onto something that bears potential to replace the customers they're killing off at a greater rate than they're creating. With the vast resources and mindset of BT I fear it's only a matter of time before they turn our hobby into their bottom line, squeezing out the little guys in the process. I can already see their business cards coming back from the printers....VP of ecig Strategy, Director of New Product Development, etc. Together with their ecig marketing slogans on F1 cars and in bus shelters. I think I'll cheer myself up a little now by burning some of this tasty Maple tobacco....my way....while I still can.

Big Tobacco is not my enemy. I chose to smoke, have always enjoyed it, and have no problem with them anymore than I have problems with Big Motorcycle, an industry that produces vehicles that carry high risks, yet many many people choose to ride them. No one forced you to smoke; you made that choice on your own, as did I. Small businesses are great; if their products are better than what BT produces, people will continue to buy from them. You really should investigate though where the concept behind e cigs began. Take a look at the history, and you will see that the concept began long ago, and the innovators were these people.
Philip Morris is testing its own high-tech cigarette called Accord, which has been described as a cigarette encased in a kazoo-shaped lighter. Consumers buy a $40 kit that includes a battery charger, a puff-activated lighter that holds the cigarette, and a carton of special cigarettes. To smoke the cigarettes, a smoker sucks on the kazoolike box. A microchip senses the puff and sends a burst of heat to the cigarette. The process gives the smoker one drag and does not create ashes or smoke. An illuminated display shows the number of puffs remaining, and the batteries must be recharged after every pack. It's unclear whether smokers will find the low-smoke and -ash benefits desirable enough to justify learning an entirely new smoking ritual. Although Philip Morris doesn't make health claims about Accord, the company in 1998 told the Society of Toxicology that Accord generated 83 percent fewer toxins than a regular cigarette.

Sorry, forgot the quote. The assessment that anyone who has vaped for a long time would prefer mods rather than cigarette looking devices. I do not prefer mods because I find them unattractive, too heavy, and awkward in many ways.
Yeah, I was thinking you might have been meaning to reply to this thread...

Another bi-weekly battle regarding that topic is going on there right now.

Do you guys think the quality of blue e-cigs will go down now thought? It is always best to stick to boutique brands that specialize in their product anyways

I'm afraid this post really make me laugh. I mean Blu is already at the bottom of the heap, when it comes to quality. They can't get worse.

There is another possibility that hasn’t been discussed much here.
With the introduction of BT in the picture, it could develop along the lines of the wine industry where you have some very large producers and distributers operating alongside of mom & pop wineries and home basement brews.

Personally this is the model I would most like to see and could work out best for everybody involved. The power of BT for R&D, combating over regulation and advertising operating along side of the little guy having the freedom to create their own juices and innovate with just enough regulation to ensure that anything sold meets certain reasonable safety standards.

another thing to include in this people would have to stand behind thier products they sell.
you can bet if someone bought a atomizer form BT that it damn well better work and can be returned if not!

I wish every other industry gave the same customer service that most of the suppliers give!

Hi folks,

I started 3 days ago with blu; I was 2 days into my quit and about to buy cigarettes and fail one more time. I entered a walgreen and came out with a blu starter kit and some flavors. If blu is good or bad I don't know but I'm smoke free still thanks to them!

I started to read here and the amount of info is overwelming !... but I could extract that volt is pretty popular here so I just ordered a kit and some flavors.

To be honest I still don't know when the cartomizer is finished... I suck until it tastes like crap and change it... today I had to chew some gum while vaping cause it was making a lot of smoke but I was having big time cravings.

My best regards to all and let this post be my introduction in this forum.

Cheers,

Pablo

Welcome to the forum! When a cartomizer tastes bad, it's usually empty. You can purchase a bottle of e-liquid and top off your cartomizer, or purchase empty cartomizers and fill them yourself. It's much cheaper to do that and they do taste much better. Prefilled cartomizers don't really last very long at all.

I worry much less about that scenario. Bigger profits are from outlawing consumer applied eliquid completely and forcing everyone to use sealed carts only. Much bigger profits for the large companies and much more control for government. Oh and limiting the nicotine to 2 & 4mg strength. This would force many back to smoking.

I'm thinking it would force many *more* into DIY-ing, which under those circumstances would amount to bootlegging. Our Ship of State is leaking & listing rather badly & this looks to me like just one more hole She's determined to knock through Her hull. Oh well....

Yep big business will screw over the little guy whenever possible. Up here in Canada we have very few cable providers and they are all very large companies. Not unusual to easily pay $200.00+ up here for TV and internet. In the last few yrs smaller internet companies have come out with packages far cheaper, better quality (higher bandwidth and speed) and they ride on the same backbone as these larger companies. Lo and behold I called to cancel my service and was offered by customer retentions:
30% off TV
50% off internet and they gave me a higher tier package
free Dociss 3.0 modem
free PVR
1 year contract
I still wanted to go with the smaller company but wife wanted to stay with present company.
I saved a small fortune and got a higher quality package...why you ask??? those smaller companies were willing to enter the marketplace offering fair value products and the only reason the larger companies are coming down in price is because they FINALLY have competition. We NEED the small companies to thrive otherwise we're looking at a monopoly.

I agree.
if I can't easily carry it around in my pants pocket, then its not gonna work for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love my stardust for home vaping, but when I go out I usually grab my Blu, stick it in my pocket and use that. No, it's not as satisfying, but it gets the job done.
