How come no one has suggested VV batteries? I love my eGo style batteries, but I think that suggesting VV is somewhat important. This kit is more expensive, but you're getting genuine Joyetech, or Vision batteries, and you don't have to wait for it to ship from China:

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

I'd probably go for the 650 or 900mAh batteries, and the EVODs.

EDIT: If you don't know what VV is, it's variable voltage. You can dial in on the taste/vapor production that you want. Also, you'll probably want to buy some extra EVOD head/coil assemblies - until you get the itch to start rebuilding your own.

The EVOD Starter Kit suggested my Xenu2112 looks interesting......
VV aside.....650mA has GOTTA be a quantum leap from the abysmal ~90mA Blu provides with their Starter Kit!!:(
You can't get more than about 20 puffs on one before it dies!!!
I'll be upgrading soon....then the Blu "Starter"....will be FINISHED!!;)
As a side note, however.....like many others...I DO thank Blu for at least turning me on to vaping...
But....there's bigger fish to fry!!

so on the batteries.. you recommend the 650 over 1000/1300mah? is size the main factor or is 1300 just overkill?
saw this - $21.83 EVOD 6-in-1 Rechargeable 1300mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - double e-cigarette / black / 2.5

thoughts?

Like defdock said, the mah is simply the capacity of the battery. Good rule of thumb is 100mah = 1 hour. So a 650 mah battery is good for 6 hours of vaping before needing to be recharged, more or less. I like the 650's because the 900s thru 1300s are MUCH bigger and I just don't like carrying that around. Those are still tiny compared to the fancy mods a lot of vapers use, tho...so it's all a matter of preference. Here is a pic for size reference

As far as variable voltage batteries go, IMHO they're something you might want to look at down the road, but if you're used to that Blu kit, then a straight eGo battery setup is going to blow you away with the power increase, so I wouldn't worry about it just yet if it were me.

As far as juice recommendations, for straight up cigarette-like tobacco flavor I am a loyal user of Tampa from Vaporstation.com. For me it is my daily vape and it tastes closest to a Marlboro, which is what I used to smoke. I'd definitely try it first, and then down the road you'll probably want to branch out to some non-tobacco flavors like most folks eventually do. Stick with the PG (propylene glycol) based juice for now, don't go for the VG (vegetable glycerin). The PG is thinner, easier to use, and will give you a better approximation of smoking.

That should be enough info to get you going...any more questions, fire away; there's plenty of people smarter than me that can probably answer you better. :p

Xenu2112 has a nice post there. I have used the Joyetech eGo VV upgrades at 650mAh and at 1100mAh, and they are great. So much so that I am not planning on buying anything new outside an itaste MVP for the foreseeable future as far as batteries/mods. Good battery life, easy to carry around and so far they are very reliable. You can put one in your shirt pocket and you're all set, even with a protank on the end! Match those or a vision spinner with an evod bcc tank, and you've just traveled light years from Blu at what will probably be a lower cost.

There really isn't a rule of thumb regarding how long a battery will last. Yes, many say one hour per mAh, but many find that's just not true. I started with 1000mAh Twists and was lucky to get 6 hours out of them. My 2200mAh Efests last between 10-12 hours. It all depends on how much you vape and how hard you hit your device.

A better rule of thumb would be to determine how much juice a 650mAh battery will burn through. THAT would be a better indicator of how long your batteries last for you.

I started with Blu, they're horrible. I could get a decent 4-5 drags out of a cartridge, and that was it and I even had the Premium 100 kit! At least it started me on the journey, and I was onto something else pretty quick.

That's exactly what I'm getting.. plus the DOA charger pack, one faulty battery and occasionally bum carts.. all for $90 bucks. lame.

I cant hate on blu too bad, because they were the brand which made me take e cigs seriously. Before Blu, the stuff I tried, I looked at is a gas station novelty, not an actual "thing"

I got my Premium 100 Kit direct from Blu, with an Extra Battery, and 10 packs of cartos, 5 vanilla, 5 java.

Everything worked fine out of the package(though I will say, the packing job left something to be desired)

Yeah, the batteries die quick. I was going through 3-4 a day.

The Cartos lose their flavor quicker then they lose the abilty to put out vapor. I basically changed the carto when I changed the battery.

Thje Vanilla was lovely, the Java was terrible. Even though the Vanilla flavor went away quicker than Idve liked, Im still currently trying to find a vanilla like the way the Blu cartos tasted on a fresh box and battery.

I ordered an APV probably a week after I ordered Blu. For all intents and purposes, I full on wasted over 100 bucks with Blu. BUT... they got me to here, to my mods, and my ever growing collection of mods and accesories and juices. SO, I cant hate them.

..plus, the batteries ARE a 510 connection.. in a pinch, they could be useful for emergencies. But as far as 510 cig-a-likes go, there is better. and even fogetting about APVs, Egos blow away Blus.

An Ego Twist or Vision Spinner pair of batteries, a couple kanger Evods and some juice, and youll be set.

I have tried my friend blu 3 year back loved it but didn't want to fork out close to a bill for it went to 7-11 bought their cheap xhale 02 didn't like it. Came to the ECF did some reading and then bought the Ego and then fell in love with it. You will save more $$$ on Ego. Good luck on what you buy!

We started with BLU, then GreenSmoke and now Halo. Yesterday, I opened an old blu cart and filled it with Halo's Voodoo juice....guess what? It is not all that bad. The blu is small enough to go unnoticed in let's say an airport.....I reckon this will be the only reason for keeping them.

to be honest, couple days ago i was walking thru walmart just puffing away on my cig-alike, either no one noticed or no one gave a crap because it was an Ecig and not real tobacco smoke. i thought it was funny.

Wait till you get kicked out of a restaurant like I did.
im actually going to test this publicity stunt thing out now after you posted that. im going to continue to vape ANYWHERE i feel, and see what results happen. very curious on how people - mainly non smokers - take it.

what restaurant was it? if you mind me asking

Like most others, I started on Blu as well. As much as their product sucks, they've marketed the crap out of it. I think it's largely credited to them that e-cigs have become much more mainstream, so I can't entirely hate on them. I moved on to Halo, first on the G6, and got my Triton today. It's an Ego-style setup, but with an 808 connection. Might be a problem for some, but it works with all my old Halo cartos.
