You buy it at most major pet stores. It is Marineland Canister Foam, you cut them into 2 sheets of 4" x 6" each and then cut the sheet into your cartridge slugs. I bought mine at Petco. Make sure you buy "U" foam, they all have a letter code. I don't use carts anymore and would be willing to send you a sheet to try out, no cost. Just one vaper helping another. PM me if you want to do that.

EDIT: didn't answer your questions. There are no real cons to speak of. Pros are that blue foam is made for the purpose of being absorbant, the white polyfil you are using now was made to be pillow filling. The blue foam absorbs more liquid and wicks better because it has large air cells in the foam. you can vape blue foam almost dry, whereas polyfil tends to waste alot of liquid that ends up trapped in the filling and doesn't wick. Taste is comparable to polyfil, although I think foam gets better after a few uses. Both will get a burny taste if you vape them dry.

I think the blue foam is better. You can get it at stores that sell fish tank supplies -- it's the blue foam that is used with fish tank filters.

The advantages are that the wicking is a LOT better, so you get better flavor. Also, it takes up less room in the cart and so you can fit more juice in there and have to top them off less often.

The only disadvantage I've found, aside from having to cut up the foam and put it in the carts, is that it makes it a bit easier to flood the atty. I don't find a flooded atty to be that huge of a deal, though, so it doesn't bother me when it occasionally happens.

I'm using the Marineland foam in my 510 cartridges as well. They seem to wick better than the stock filler and don't impart any additional flavor. I would recommend, however, that you thoroughly wash the new filter sleeve in plain hot water before you use it. The first few I made were unwashed, and tasted a bit off. I now run a new sleeve through the dishwasher (no soap) before cutting in to it.

How very kind of you!! Such a generous offer But I have a Pet Smart in the area. I am completely new to vaping and need to find my all day vape, I will be using many carts.

As to Blue foam do you roll it; so it is dense or slighty loose?

What do you use if not carts?

Thank you,
D

Or, if you are only using it to taste flavors, you can just try dripping:

* take off one of your carts and pull out the filler
* drip 2-3 drops of juice right onto the mesh hump in the middle of your atomizer
* put the empty cart back on and vape away

If you like doing it this way you can invest $3 in a drip tip, which is just a mouthpiece with a big enough hole to drip juice through it.

Another great thing about foam--when you cut it up in tiny pieces, those pieces will last for an extremely long time. It's hard to use up the the whole package of blue foam. After the pieces are first cleaned, each piece will only require running the water from the sink on it. A good squeeze and overnight drying and you're set to go. There's UTUBE videos that show how to cut it up. It's very simple. The white polyfill has a tenfdency to dry up in the lower end so when it's pulled out, the lower end doesn't even look like it was hit by the juice. Personally I think you'll love it. I heard aboput it on this board and to this day, I'm glad I did. Many companies who include 4 to 6 sample carts in their kit won't use the foam, just the poly. The more you use a piece of foam, the better it gets. Good luck and have lots of fun.

nursedina, have you tried a carto yet? Im a newbie too...only 3 days into vaping..have a JOYE510..Im experiencing the cartridges to be a hassle and messy/annoying to fill and getting some leakage bettween the cartridge and the atty.

The pre-filled cartridges I received with my kit were awesome but now that I refill them , dont seem to be working as well.

I started a thread and tons of people suggested trying a cartomizer from cignot...Then I could just fill up some cartos and pop them on as needed..might be something to try as well.

I got a drip tip, a PPC charging case, 5 pack of cartomizers and a carrying case for an assembled 510 and with shipping it was only $40 .. I figure its good to try all the diff methods to find my personal vaping style :)

Hey y'all, I've been vaping (and cig free) going on two weeks, and after reading this thread, I ran out and bought the blue foam from a local pet store. TONS MORE VAPE then the poly, I rinsed it for 5 minutes or so, and cut it to size, had a hard time getting it into the cart, but I used something to help it slide in there. Loving it so far. My wife thinks I've gone nuts with the whole VAPE thing, and is tired of hearing about it. She is going to try to quit smoking when we get our next order of liquid, I bought her 24 mg nic strength to get off of the smokes, my 16 wasn't cutting it for her. He'll sometimes it doesn't cut it for me either. It is too easy to go nuts with this stuff, in the 10 days I've been vaping, I'm already on my third pv. Started with a 510, but I was changing batteries every 15-20 minutes, and carts in between that, so I then bought a 510 mega, the batteries on those are better. I am changing them out 4 times a day, plus the carts are twice the size of the normal 510's, but then yeaterday I ordered a t-Rex from esmokeronline (I've bought everything from them so far and am very happy), so I'm progressively getting worse, then I saw my yoga teachers pv, he'll hers looks like a MAGLITE, I had no idea there were so many choices out there. I spent 60 on the 510 mega, and I don't have the problem with having to fill those carts up too often, they last for a few hours, and don't leak too much if I don't overfill them. Good luck finding the right solution for you.
