I'm going to Sacramento in a few days to visit my girlfriend who recently moved away - I'll be traveling from Nashville, stopping in Dallas, and then to Sacramento.

I'll be bringing a EGO-VV battery, a kangertech mini protank 2, and about 27ml of e-liquid.

What should I do??

Everyone tell me to put it in my carry-on to avoid any delays or seizures, but wouldn't that make it worse? Won't they immediately x-ray it and ask me to take it out and interrogate me about it? :p

Sorry, I don't fly often...

Any advice?

I'm not sure about Nashville security, but I live in Sacramento and they have already started the whole banning process of E-cigs in certain places. I have yet to see a sign posted at Sac Int'l Airport though. If you see any signs then obviously no, but if not then I'd say go for it. Most people these days knows what a vapor pen looks like and shouldn't give you much hassle about it.

Btw if you decide to hit up a vape shop in Sac I suggest Vapebox they have a great selection of fluids to try and the customer service is amazing, or Planet of the Vapes in Downtown. Do not go to the Planet of the Vapes in Carmichael though, horrible customer service and they rush you out of the shop.

You shouldn't have an issue having it in your carry-on. I flew back from California last month with some mech mods that came with 3 separate battery tubes, charger, batteries, and 2 bottles of juice. Went thru x-ray scanner no problem and they didnt even inspect my bag. If you are carrying juice, just make sure to put it in a ziplock bag.

Happy travels!

I think you might be confused? I don't care about smoking on the flight - I'm just trying to travel with it.

I didn't see anything on google when I searched for e-cig bans in Sacramento?

Sorry I used the wrong wording for that, not banned. They are being treated as cigarettes in some areas meaning no smoking within 20 feet of a doorway kind of thing. For instance In-n-Out burger does not want them on their premises.

I've flown in and out of SF, Oakland, Philidelphia, Denver, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Corfu, and Athens with vape gear. You shouldn't have a problem with your vape gear, whether you choose to put it in checked baggage, carry-on, or your pocket. I just keep my ego in my purse when I go through security, but my husband just pulls his Provari out of his pocket and drops it in the tub with his cell phone and shoes. You might get a brand-spanking-new TSA agent who will ask you about it, but likely they will call someone more experienced over who will say, "Yup. That's an e-cig." And send you on through.

Yes, put your juice in a ziplock if you're bringing it carry-on, just because it's liquid. And yes, your tank might leak a bit. If you are putting it in checked luggage, put it in a baggie, too. If it's with you, it probably won't leak much since the cabin is pressurized.

Have a fun trip!

I've flown from Portland Or, to San Francisco a few times with e cig stuff in both carry-on and luggage with no worries. I don't even take it out of my jacket. Just put the jacket through the x-ray and you're done. I also had a huge amount of stuff in my luggage once cause I wasn't sure how long I was staying.

These people have seen it all. Don't worry for a second buddy.

No different than stealth vaping.. keep it in your carry on . Dont use a nautilus tank or some 5 ml huge thing ( IN CASE TSA GET PICKY ) .. and dont do it in view.. go the the "lavatory " & vape it up just no clouds!!!! when going thru security, seperate the battery from the tank.. and dont try to hide it IS NOT against the rules to have one on board.

Likely a little late for your trip, but I fly out of Nashville all the time. I always take a few batteries and a few tanks. I always have one in my carry-on in case of flight delays when I have to lay-over. I also have put them in my checked bag. I fly a lot, including out of the country as well.

The biggest issue with flying and having your vape gear is leakage due to air pressure. I have yet to find a tank that won't leak. While I hate the analog-like little e-cigs, they're practically the only thing that doesn't leak. As an earlier poster suggested, keep the tanks empty and e-liquid bottles in your liquids bag. Your purse and nice luggage will thank you.

carry-on is fine.
keep the tank empty. pressure changes can cause leaks.
keep the liquids w/ your toiletries and within regulation amounts
dont vape on the plane. thats a felony.
if they ask you what it is, dont lie. its not illegal.

you'll be cool.

Nicely said, definitely empty tanks.Learned that the hard way:)

Not sure at all about the 'felony' thing... last I heard, there was a herd of politicians (the D types) trying to get the FAA to institute a nationwide ban on vaping on airplanes.

Doesn't sound like any federal level legislation is in place... yet...

It's my understanding though that the airlines have the individual discretion to allow / prohibit(?)

Based on a recent trip across country, I'll agree with the advice to have everything in the carry-on, bag the liquids, etc etc.

Nobody appears to give our 'stuff' a second look, and very accepting as normal.

Btw, the TSA website site specifically states they don't care about e-cig / vaping equipment.

And yes, I stealthed right in my window seat, and only got a dirty look from my wife who noticed 1 time ;)

Have a good trip!
