Bobas in a RM2 help.

I found that using Aunt Lydia's # 10 bamboo is really nice. It doesn't singe as bad as cotton and I haven't burned a wick yet and I've had this wick in for almost a week. You can find it at Hobby Lobby fold the thread in half and use a wire to pull it through the coil from the middle and make a four thread wick. It works very well for me but of course YMMV.
With my cotton wicks I fins the right amount is when you pull it thru you should feel just a small amount of resistance.
I would also say I start with a hunk of cotton that looks too big to fit and roll the cotton in wetted fingers, while applying pressure to pack all the fibers together as dense as I can.
Hard to describe....just have to do it by feel. Too little cotton and I burn the wick and get reduced flavor. Too much and I get the same result as too little.

Boba's is a regular ADV for me. I've mentioned in other threads that I don't wick the cotton through the coil but rather roll it into a ball and push it up against coil opposite of the airhole. For me this provides the best flavor. I also change my wicks and dryburn several times a day when vaping Boba's.
Currently I'm using 2 microcoils in my RM2. 10 wraps each of 30 guage. One coils is in the standard posistion and the other is directly above it. I get tons of vapor this way.
Boba's Bounty is odd in that it can taste very different in different devices and/or wicking medium. When using cotton, I've found the first couple vapes to taste a bit funny but it smooths out pretty quick. You do have to keep the cotton very saturated.

As mentioned BB really does a number on coils as it is so thick. I used to use with cotton and too little or too much cotton make a big difference with thick 100% VG juices.
I have been using XC132 ceramic wicking and it works great! The XC does not absorb quite as well as cotton but with thick juice it absorbs enough for a flavorful vape.It can survive heavy dryburning of the coil with NO damage as it will withstand the heat that the coil generates. With BB I would advise dryburning your coil daily to avoid buildup. With the XC you can dry burn all you want unlike with cotton. You can also change flavors very easily. Just dryburn and go with new flavor! I am going on week 4 with my current coil/wick build with NO performance decrease! Just dryburn at the end of the day and I am good to go. The XC wick is literally undamaged and looks the same as when I built it other than slight discoloration from heat, but not burnt or disingrating.The only drawback is that if you like to fiddle with wicks and building coils this setup takes out the "fiddling" fun factor.
I dunno...I smell a potential hot leg. What kind of coil are you running? Even micro-coils can get a hot leg (arguably it's rare but...). A picture of your coil and wick would help.

I can vape bobas all day and get the same flavor still without changing wicks when I do change the wick is black where it makes contact with the coil and when I do taste cotton a squonk to resaturate takes the cotton taste away

Like I said, it is definitely a thick juice. It also squonks a LOT differently when the bottle is full as opposed to when it is depleted some. This is one of the steepest learning curves associated with squonking as far as I am concerned. I really recommend taking the dpi tip off to see how much juice is hitting your coil and wick. I do a micro coil with cotton as well. I find it helps to make the wick as dense as possible while still being able to feed through the coil. It is also important to cut the ends of the wick off nice and short. A dense wick rolled with moistened fingers with really short tails is absolutely key. Keep the coil nice and low to the deck and you will get plenty of juice to the coil and wick while still allowing for drainage of excess juice.
I cut mine to where they just barely touch, though they don't have to. Depending on how low your coil sits in relation to the deck, you can actually submerge your wick and coil with a good squonk.
Got you, I need to try and make the wick ends a little shorter.
My wick ends come just to the ends of the posts. Sometimes I push them down towards the deck with my tweezers, but they barely reach. Like custom-classic said, when you squonk you submerge the whole coil in juice, so the wick just needs to hold some in next to and in the middle of the coil. There's really less "wicking" and more just holding the juice in the coil. I don't use BB, but I use 100% VG juice and it's just as thick. I have to squonk about every two or three hits. I'm so used to it that it has become second nature.
Well heres a checklist for the muted flavor
1. Is the coil as close to the perimeter of the atty as possible?
2. Is the coil lined up with your airhole?
These two improved my flavor tremendously when my flavor was muted
3. Is your airhole TOO big for the ohms your running?
4.is your cotton TOO dense or not dense enough? Try a pinch off of a cotton ball using just your nails to pinch and work your way up with more cotton till flavor changes

The airhole is just barely off but not by much at all.
The coil is above the drain pretty close to the perimeter.
