Is this good news? Seems to me this would cover all the archaic ecig technology, such as that produced by big tobacco, and stop smoking aids like nic gum - and allow an open regulatory season on current ecig technology.

Just been my experience that such passionate government action usually only occurs when some big interests profit is in jeopardy.

Just reading thru whatever info I could find on this, just doesn't look like a good deal for most of the vaping market IMO.

As CASAA members know, the February 15, 2007 grandfather date, if implemented in the final deeming regulation, would have the practical effect of removing 99.99% of the products currently on the market since all deemed products not on the market as of that date would be forced to file Premarket Tobacco Applications (PMTA), a process so convoluted, time-consuming, and expensive that the FDA itself estimates that only 25 PMTAs will be filed.

As I consider this best news since the day before 4/24/14, or very good news, then I'm curious what other info you are finding that suggests this doesn't look good.

If the grandfather date is moved, in my understanding, it would cover all devices that were commercially sold before that date.

If anything, I would think cigalike makers, especially BT, wouldn't favor a move in date as they have funds to handle application submissions.

What Jman said + this would have no effect on nic gum, lozenges, patches or inhalers, as they are regulated as drugs.
