Boge Cartomizer on Larger Ego Battery problem?

I recently bought a large Ego style battery (1100 mAh) , and came to find that none of my Boge cartomizers would work on it - although all my Clearomizers would. This confounded me for a while. However, I think I've figured out the issue, and please excuse me if my lingo isn't correct:

The Threading on the Boge Carto doesn't go as "deep" as the threads on the Clearomizer.carto. Either that, or the threading grooves on the battery run deeper than the threads on the Boge.

Either way, it amounts to the inability to completely screw down the Boge carto, to come in contact with the battery terminals. When trying to screw it on, it becomes very stiff after 4 or so rotations, and then impossible to tighten down all the way. Sort of like there's not enough threading grooves on the Boge to be able to screw down far enough to touch the terminals.

I'm afraid that if I try to tighten it all the way down, that I'll destroy my battery in the process. Has anyone run into this before? Any suggestions on what to try? Any way to screw on more threading grooves on the Boge cartos? (by screwing into something else to create them)

I've got a bunch of Boge Cartos left, and I really like them, and don't want to be stuck only using the Clearo's on this battery, because I Love how long this thing lasts between charges.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Schmoo

Hi,
Sometimes it helps to continue to screw it on and then off until contact is made,it seems like each time it goes a little deeper....It has worked for me in the past. I know its a pita but just keep trying it and after a few times, it should screw all the way down, just make sure the boge's are for the 510 threading,,,,,'
let us know.

Also, another thing you might try,,,,look at the cartomizer end where the threads are ---the piece that actually makes the contact with the battery, There are 2 opposing slits with the hole in the middle, take an eyeglass screw driver and carefully make a half turn to the left. That may lower it enuff to make contact. Don't try to turn it too much, but maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 turn,.

Let me know.

But be warned - usually this method is not advisable because one of the wires connected to this slitted piece and turning it could break the wire.
And the worst case scenario is it could short the carto and then fry your battery.

Thank you for the advice!

I'm not exactly sure what brand it is, but I specified 510 when I purchased it. All my other cartos and attys seem to work fine on it, from my original Ego and Riva devices. It only seems to be the Boge Cartos that wont screw in all the way. (the Boge's work on my Ego and Rivas though).

I'm hesitant about turning the slit on the bottom, as I've killed some cartos in the past this way.

I guess I'll have to take a chance, and try cranking this thing down with a pair of pliers or something. :p

- OR -

Does anyone know if I can just go to the hardware store, and buy some nuts that have 510-ish threading, and try cranking the Boge's in that, to add more threading grooves to it? (at worst, it would only kill a carto - and would allow me to keep my battery safe)
Is this viable, or am I going to too great of lengths to vape on my tastey Boges?

Thanks,
Schmoo

The best fix for this is probably the 801 fix for carto centre poles that are too high and don't go deep enough - like this. Somewhere on ECF there is a detailed tute but what you do is get a staple and fold it so there is a 'spike' in the middle that goes up into the carto's centre air hole and jams it in there. Then, trim off the long ends with wirecutters so that they can't short out.

This works a treat - but you have to be absolutely sure that the ends are short enough so they are well clear of the outer/negative thread, as if they touch, shorting out the centre to the outer, the battery is history. It's tricky on a 510 as everything is so small.
