I experimented with TC a few years ago but for the way I vape I never saw benefits.
So do most, including myself at first. But I love playing around and kept playing with TC anyway. Do you need TC to vape? No. Do you need a regulated mod to vape. No. And I don't always use TC. Sometimes I don't have a choice. And without TC, besides wattage of course, you can change the temperature by airflow. And with a little practice you can get really good at it. But still, TC makes these tasks a lot easier.
I've honestly never had a burnt hit. in wattage mode.
Never chain vape? Chain vaping requires perfection in your wicking. If you're are the type of vaper who takes one puff and doesn't puff again for 5+ minutes, your wicking could be pretty tight and you won't have a problem as long as the coil can collect enough juice until your next puff. Chain vaping the wicking has to deliver right now like an assembly line. While at the same time not oversaturating. Although with a little practice, hopefully you get the wicking right every time.
Now even if you have your wicking down perfectly, the next problem is each time you fire, you must increase your airflow more than the previous puff. Or your coil just gets hotter and hotter with each additional puff. Your lungs can only play this game for so long until it can't beat the last puff.
So what are your choices? Either stop and lower your wattage and start again. Or use TC and no need for your lungs to beat the last puff to keep the temperature limited.
You might say that is pretty extreme vaping. But what about under less trying conditions? Well like I said before you can setup TC to vape just like power vaping. So what is the difference? Well a few things like no burnt and dry hits, coils last longer, and more consistent flavor control.
Does it work well for people that like long draws?
Absolutely.
