Greetings all. I'm a veteran E-cig smoker but new to this forum. I use a 510-T when I'm out and an Ego-T when I'm at home and it's going great !

I do have a question about a recent event relating to E-Cigs that I would love some advice on.

** I apologize if this is not posted in the right section, but being a new member this is the only forum I can post in. **

I've smoked my 510-T at work for about a month now, but recently received an email, from my boss, stating that someone complained about me smoking it at my desk and that I am not allowed to smoke E-Cigs anymore in the office.

The person who complained was in a different room and at the same time, this isn't a health issue. I'm feeling completely cornered and discriminated against due to another person's ignorance or uneasyness from me smoking my e-cig. Of course the person who remained anonymous, I found out that everyone in my direct department and area have no problems with my smoking my e-cig.

Being the type of person to comply with my bosses wishes without challenging them, not being able to smoke my e-cig at work makes me crave to smoke analogs again and I am very worried that its having an effect on my old habits coming back.

I was looking for any advice/info/opinions regarding how I can possibly make it so I can smoke in my office again? Is there any type of legality that would allow me to fight this or is my bosses word final because it's a company workplace and I'm screwed?

Thanks in advance.

A slippery slope, however it is not legal in many places. You have to understand that many people have no idea what your doing and though it may have no ill effects on others around you, legislation is being made to make these illegal and no one wants that to happen. My best advice is to stealth vape in the restroom. No need to get the anti's all riled up.

Well, I hate that this happened to you, but to some people..."smoking" is smoking. I myself...would
just let it go for now. Take your breaks and vape up a storm, away from your office. Jobs are very
important to hold on to right now, and I would not want you to not stirr up anything that may hurt you
in the long run.
Some smells just don't set right with some people. You might go apologize to whomever it was that
was bothered and find out if it was the smell or just they thought "smoking" should not be in the office.
Maybe you can educate them some on vaping versus smoking...and maybe find a juice smell that person
would be more in tune with.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Good Luck!!

Some companies have rules against eCigs. Ask to see a company policy.
Have a discussion with your boss. Explain that you are trying to be healthy, change your life, be considerate of others etc.
Also, do a search here for stealth vaping. It works!!
(Inhale vapor into mouth while breathing thru nose, inhale vapor into lungs, inhale breath thru nose, exhale. With practice you will exhale no vaor!)

Ah well I know for a fact that vaping in the area that I live is allowed in public buildings -- legally. As far as peoples ignorance toward these things, that's a different battle. But of course I'm not going to quit my job just for this, as well as not want to do anything that would jeopardize it.

The first thing I did was comply, but of course I am appreciative of any advice on this whatsoever, because I would love to be able to vape in my office again. It seems my boss knows about e-cigs but the bottom line is if someone complains, everything else is irrelevant.

Thanks for the advice though.

It all depends on your location and the knowledge level of the people who make the decisions. I'd stealth vape in the rest room as someone said or go outside and educate all the smokers. They will spread the word about your Ecig.

I wouldn't push it and lose credibility with my boss, but I would explain how it works and offer him a pamphlet from Csaa.org - Csaa and Auto Insurance. You can also get pamphlets to print from ECF. Restraint will pay off eventually.

I work in a vape-friendly enviornment. At first the vapers were grateful to vape indoors and at their workstations and the non-smokers applauded their switch. With a few vapers hot-dogging with big mods and ginormous clouds of vapor, the warm fuzzies are fading. I expect a memo soon that only cig-sized ecigs/PVs will be allowed or vaping will be banned completely :(

here is the resource page for CASAA.org ...lotssa great stuff for informational purposes CASAA.org ...this one is great for making a "regulatory" type point http://www.casaa.org/files/CASAA_Legislative_Packet_Regarding_Indoor_Bans_Web.pdf ...print it up and give it to your boss, not so much to fight the ban but to "educate" your boss on exactly what he is discriminating against...some of the other informational stuff might be good to hand out to coworkers, leave laying around the breakroom or post on the Co. bulletin board...
............... ATTENTION ALL NEWBIES ............
If you don't know about CASAA.org, they are a consumer group fighting for your rights...visit their website and READ, there is a ton of informational info free for the taking in their resource page for both your info and for others including your Dr, co-workers, friends and family...don't just ..... and moan...BE PROACTIVE.................

Gotta ask... why are you asking here instead of approaching your boss face to face? We don't know your boss, fellow workers or working environment. You do!

If you feel you can't approach your boss, then there's no way we can help you. Currently there are no known successful legal challenges upon you can rely. If you're looking for supportive vaping documentation, then there's a ton here on the ECF.

Using the "makes me crave to smoke analogs" line holds no water whatsoever, in that your boss can tell ya to carry on. I don't mean to be brutal, just realistic.

I do wish you the best of outcomes!!!

this e-cig prohibition bs is really getting to me on an ethical level. I'm sorry but ignorance on the subject is no excuse...ignorance doesn't hold up in any legal issue so I wonder why it's allowed to fly with e-cigs. It almost feels like resentment is to blame, as if we have done them one up and they feel the need to crush our smug little smiles.

I mean look at how this is going...even the educated ones on the subject still find the nicotine that might be in the air to be a big enough health concern, yet they stuff their faces with fast food and drink insane amounts of coffee among other "socially acceptable" self destructing habits.

And it's all down to the big tobacco and a complete alienation from any and all governmental institutions because of it. Sorry to say, but pretty much anything you could do to help your situation will be received as opposition...you simply cannot win this one. Makes me sick to my stomach.

I was with you 100% until you talked about coffee. Don't you dare mess with my coffee.

Just kidding! Good post- it makes me a little sick too.

I have to listen to my BIL call my pv my 'chemical' cigarette and tell me how dangerous it is while puffing on his $8.00 pack of Marlboros. I don't know who is worse, the smokers or non-smokers.
