I have been using the Eastmall Riva 750mah 510 clones for about three months now. I have been very pleased with the starter kit; I typically charged one battery while using the other. No problems.

Over the last two days, I took the batteries to work and charged them with the USB cable that plugs into the wall charger with my computer. It seemed to work fine; but today, one battery just fried. It was not plugged into the USB charger -- I just finished getting a good vape and it seemed to get stuck "on" and I quickly unscrewed the atty and it stopped, but it got so hot I almost had to drop it. Then it didn't work anymore. I figured after almost 3 months, it had lived its life.

So then I plugged the other battery in. It worked fine but when I was on my way home, it seemed to get stuck "on" too while I was vaping, and IT fried too. Both batteries gone in one day.

Did using the USB cable instead of the USB+charger do this??

it is a possibilty, the usb output might have been higher then your wall charger, lets say your wall charger was 5v and .5A but your comp had 5v and 2a it could have fried your batters...charging them at too high of a rate. another possibility might be that your cable was bad but it doesnt really seam to be normal problem, that sucks tho, did you have any back-ups. hope this helps ya a lil bit, hope you have a better night!-)

I would not think so, as the USB charging cord has internal regulation of current.. so it should not matter if the power source is 500 mah or 1200 mah..etc. as long as it is enough to feed the rated output of the USB charger...I am not familiar with your device specs.. but most USB charging cords are rated about 420 mah for 750 mah batteries, you can tell by looking at the AC adaptor piece that came with the kit. Not sure why both would fry on same day, almost sounds like liquid damage or something. Very bad luck, I hope you have a backup PV or somthing to get by.

Ummmm.... did you use the same atty on both batteries???

Sometimes when an "atty goes bad", its resistance drops below 1Ω. When that happens, it will kill the Riva/eGo batteries dead in just the manner that you described.

I seriously doubt... heck, I know.... that this is not a charging issue.

What is an Eastmall Riva 750mah 510 clone?

Explanation or link to product appreciated.
Thank you,

Exactly.
I had one Riva battery go KAPUT the way OP described. Measured the atty resistance and sure enough that was 0.8 Ω.

On a bright note - the taste and vapor were unbelievable !
