I don't understand the mathematics involved...for the most part. But I do know there is a 15 watt maximum power output. So if your resistance is too low for the voltage you have set, your mod just won't fire. It won't fry the chip...it just won't work. Best thing to do is start with your voltage set as low as you can go, then work up from there. I found out the hard way when an old atty of mine was dying a slow death....the resistance kept dropping unbeknownst to me. At one point, my mod just stopped working. I checked my batteries, the on/off switch, checked to make sure the atty was seated properly and it was....then I checked my atty and found it had dropped to 0.5ish. That's when the lightbulb went on. I put a new atty on and it worked beautifully. I'm sorry I don't know what the exact numbers are, but I've never been worried about dropping below it.

I've read in another post that there's no point in going below ~2Ω. That's about the lowest resistance that will benefit from (not cancel out) the full range of the variable voltage. 2 ohms at 5.47 volts = 15 watts (rather 5.47v @ 2Ω)
I concur nothing lower then 2 ohm of course you can run a lower ohm coil .Why one would want to puzzles me

hildicat, R-Fire, pdib, JC O,

Thanks for the help. All responses have been very helpful.

I think I'll try to hit about 2 to 2.1 Ohms now that I have some 30 ga and 28 ga wire just received this afternoon late. I'll try the 30 ga. and try to do a real tight micro on 16 ga. needle. Knowing about the 15 watt limit is good.

Also, from another thread, I can see I have been leaving my cotton wicks way too long, had flooding. Trimmed it down and it works much better.

Thanks y'all.

Added edit: Thanks Redeyeddancer, now I know to stay at 2 Ohms. Great, thanks.

The reason I've run lower than 2.0 ohms on VVG is because all the others needed rewicking except for the 1.6 and I was in a rush.:D

1.6 on lowest setting VV, juice didn't taste a good as on mechanical even though the voltage was lower. Maybe just my imagine.
