got a bit more done on my dna200 bottomfeeder, figured I'll put a few more progress shots. my original goal was to try and make a dna200 bottom feeder and make it smaller than a dibi  ok, so not quite smaller than a dibi, but not much larger I guess :) it's actually shorter and narrower than a dibi but it's thicker

the inner aluminum divider started out as a solid block of 1"x2" 6061 T6 aluminum and a lot of milling, but still needs some more machine work...

Your "tinkering" never fails to amaze me Turbo. That is an awesome looking squonker. If you ever decided to do a side business of making mods, I have no doubt you would have a list a mile long within weeks.

ha, thanks Ken, that's not for me though at this time, I like being part of the community here and once you become a vendor you give a lot of that up, plus I spend so much time on building something like this it wouldn't be cost effective. if I ever give up my day job, then maybe, but for now it's just a hobby that consumes hours and hours :)

I finally got the dna200 bottom feeder up and running, been vaping it past few days... man I love this thing... the 1,000mah battery I'm running it on now lasts a really long time, I can fully empty a 6ml reo bottle and still have quite a bit of battery left still but the 1,000 pack is kinda fat.I'm waiting on some more of the little 600mah cells, I damaged the soldering tabs on a few of the ones I have so I wasn't able to finish a T pack with these but I'm hoping they have enough juice to match a full 6ml, if it does it'll be perfect.

I'm so used to my woodies that I didn't think I'd like something else but man this thing just fits my hand so well, and I made it specifically for my left hand so it's so comfortable, I can actually squonk while I vape if I wanted to. the dna200 def blows away the dna40, the temp control on the dna200 seems more refined. with the dna40 if you just set it to max power then you sometimes feel the power drop in and out as it reaches temp limit so it almost kinda stutters, power on/power off, power on/power off, etc... but not with the dna200. I can leave it pinned at 200 watts and it just vapes seamlessly and wonderfully with no signs of throttling or anything, just a nice smooth consistent vape.

heres a few shots of the progress, it's still not finished, still need to build a battery door but I have the battery taped in for now and man, I just love this thing :) first bottom feeder I've had that lasts me a full day and be able to fully empty a 6ml bottle on one battery.

here's a few shots of how it's wired up. input wires are 16ga silver coated becu, the output wires to atty are 12ga silicone wire. I used a mini deans and 2 jst connectors so the battery is swappable

here's how the wiring fits with a larger pack, the center channel that holds one 600mah cell becomes a recessed wire channel :)

Turbo, correct me if I'm wrong, but it look like you have to move the batteries out of the way to access the bottle for filling?

when I remove the rear door I see only battery, so I have to flop the battery over to the side like in my last shot to pop the bottle out, but I don't have to actually unplug the battery or fully remove it, just flip it to one side. the wires are silicone and flexible so no issues there.

Anyone know where to get the Indestructible SS 510 Connectors that are adjustable? Can't find what I'm looking for on FDV.

I use the FDV V4 flat low profile long, but just toss the core. I press fit a piece of delrin rod in the back, drill and tap it. Then, I cut and thread a piece of thick walled silver tubing for the feed tube/positive contact. Since switching to the flat and making my own core, I've experienced absolutely zero leaking and a much better electrical contact.

Major points for originality, aside from the fact that it's strange looking (I like strange), I can't figure out why I'm drawn to it...there's a lot to look at there, it would be cool if on the next one of those you found a "L" shaped chunk of tree branch, with the wave in the copper it'd look pretty organic.

Hi guys, been into vaping since about 2009, never really thought I'd be able to mod a mod or make my own. I've owned Reos since early 2012. Never looked at other mods until recently got into extreme sub-ohm builds. Planning a 200w regulated mod, but to get my chops wet want to fix my old mechanical Reo Grand and make it regulated for up to 60w. Been lurking in this thread for the past week. Kinda broke right now and don't want to send the mod to Rob to get the 510 replaced to the new indestructible SS 510. LIke the new spring loaded style of many other mods, don't know if it will work on a BF.

How do you remove the old 510 from a Reo Grand? I've tried many methods, but I can't get it to happen. I don't want to damage the enclosure. Wanna mod my old Reo grand with an dna 40 chip or an sx 350 mini. Trying to look for a VV grand enclosure thats dead for the cheap to try to make one, but I have a dead Metal Reo Grand laying around.

At some point I'll have to make a wood mod too since my wife likes the looks of them. She doesn't vape. I as well am a happily employed Software Engineer, looking for a hobby. I'm also going back to school for CE/CS double major since I'm self-taught and thought that building regulated mods and making my own would help for my future degree.

pretty sure it's glued and pressed in, I think you'd have much better luck driling it out than tryin to remove it
Thanks for the tip! I just got to page 25 of this thread and saw your Reo Grand that you added a chip module on the bottom, do you have more pics on how you mounted and built it if thats ok with you? That's an awesome idea, I've been thinking of ways to add more real estate into the mod without having to go to a hammond box.

I've also been thinking about all the leaking issues that the Grands have, the newer SS 510 that Rob has is pretty awesome, I have one of my other Reos running it, but I'm trying to learn.

Edit** - so only have 7/32 and 13/64 drill bits. Gonna pick up some metric drill bits tomorrow.

I had a thread in the reo forum from back when I built that mod, probably the most pictures there I think. I don't have much of anything that's not there. wow that was dna20 :) I haven't touched that mod since I got my first woodvils, the chip went bad in it and it's in pieces in a dead mod corner somewhere corroding away :) I swapped chips a few times in that mod, really learned the hard way how much ejuice and dnas don't play well together with that mod :)

best thing I can tell you is if your going to have a chip under the bottle make sure you seal it up good :) my first dna woody that replaced that mod I put the chip in the same place but sealed it up good and it's still working perfect till today with the original dna30 from over a year ago, I use it all the time but it's waterproofed. I wouldn't put a chip in the bottom of a mod without waterproofing it

Thanks for the tips, I've seen some of your posts on using liquid electric tape. Gonna try that out. Does the SX 350 need LiPO as well? It seems like a better chip than the DNA 40. I know you've used both.
