My first bottom fire mech was a Magneto. The button worked fine, but it would work loose once in a while if I didn't tighten the retention ring every day. My second bottom fire was a Nemesis clone. The button on that was complete crunchy crap and eventually failed completely. My third bottom fire mech is a phantom brass Stingray, and that button is heavenly! No issues ever. Short throw, smooth and consistent, never have to lock it unless I put it in my pocket, and it's barely bigger than the battery in it. Try one, it may change your mind about swearing off bottom fire mechs.

I've never been able to get comfortable with a bottom button mech, even if they don't fire when you sit them down they do rock around, and having to mess with that locking bit every vape while chain vaping is too much of a hassle for me. I like my top side button mechs best for this reason. I've been using the Sigelei 24 for months now, on my second one, and will probably get the Poldiac clone next. I use nothing but 18650 batteries.

MMVapors, the builder of the Poldiac, is coming out with a bottom button mod called the Nanos and will start presell this week. The button is only 7mm tall and it uses the magnets for the lock feature. You only have to rotate the bottom button a small amount to lock it. This new mod will probably be one of the shortest, is not the shortest mod ever.
You can convert existing Poldiacs from top button to bottom button by purchasing the bottom button assembly and an adaptor.
They posted a video of this new mod in the European Suppliers thread on this forum. Check it out.

OP; I always felt the same about bottom firing mechs until I bought the Maraxus mod back in August (the real one), then just also purchased the clone just a couple weeks back. Because the bottom button is internal, there is nothing to come loose, nothing to pop out, and because of this no need for a locking mechanism. Here's some pics (below). I also LOOOVE MY 2 Omega mechs, no bottom button at all, very unique way to activate it.

There is nothing inherently wrong with bottom firing mods, if you don't like them that's just personal preference and I don't see the point in starting a thread to bash them.

Your problem with locking rings is also just a personal preference issue, and isn't really even related to the bottom vs side button debate.

This. It's all preference. I have only bottom firing mechs but have played with some side button ones. Simply not for me.

Agreed. I've only had 2 issues with locking rings and both were user error. Over tightening and not being able to unlock it and simply forgetting to lock the mod and putting it in my pocket that led to firing.

Bottom Button for the win!! :vape:

I like bottom fires, they are pretty stupid proof and IDK how you can have issues unless the switch design Sucked to begin with.

Astro switch is awesome, m16 is nice as well after a little work to stop it from unscrewing.

only switch I truely hate right now is the nemesis clone my brother has. the firing pin unscrews pretty fast from it and your always tightening it.

You can tighten the pin with vise grips, just hold the pin and the bottom cap and twist.

Tell your brother to switch to button top batteries to fix that. The Nemesis just doesn't seem to work right with flat tops. They fit, and they'll fire, but a whole host of button problems comes with using flat tops.

I thought the same thing did a minute, this is the first cheapie mechanical I ever bought, from fasttech it has the same safety as a nemi or anything else the first thing I did was pull the safety, trash it and make a skirt to recess the button so I could set it down, it weighs great.

I thought ppl were crazy to have to screw with a safety every time they took a hit, then I got a nemi for the sole purpose of using it to measure so I could make skirts for people who had them, I was going to make them for every bottom firing mod out.... Then I realized that using magnets fixed the problem. I can set my nemi down with a full r91 and it doesn't fire.

Get some magnets buddy.

I have an EA mod, which had been sitting idle for quite some time, because I had disassembled the side button switch one day, and broke the little E clip that holds everything together. Terrible design, especially for a high end mod. Apparently, the manufacturer of the EA, Electric Angel, saw the error in their ways, because eventually they offered a bottom button conversion kit for their old style EA. Long story short, I got one, and I must say that it is one of the nicest bottom buttons in my collection, which includes things like the Nemesis, Paps, Stingray, Ihybrid. The switch is flush with the lock ring, which locks and unlocks with just a slight detented twist, right or left.
