I got a Kanger subvod w/Toptank Nano three weeks ago and the bottom part would always get hot after vaping. I took the coil out and inspected what I could see and no wires where touching. It was supposed to be .5ohms, it tested .65 ohms on the meter. After 3 weeks the flavor started getting a bad taste so I replaced with a generic SSOCC .5ohm coil, the original was kanger. It also tested around .65ohm and the bottom of the tank has yet to get hot or even warm.

Why would the tank get hot with a kanger coil and not hot with a generic coil? I still get the same cloud with the generic as with the kanger coil

I've had that happen with my subtank mini's using those coils. Seems to happen like every 1 out of 10 coils. Never got so hot that anything got damaged or the vape was ruined or anything though. And did it start right away with the kanger coil? Because if it didn't and you got 3 weeks out of one coil then it's getting hot because it's going to be loaded with gunk from the juice after like 1 week nevermind 3.

That may be it, I thought the same thing coil hot from the gunk. If these new coils do the same thing after a couple weeks then that'll be the reason.

There wasn't really allot of gunk on the coils after 3 weeks, I looked down inside with a lited magnifying glass and it wasn't that bad. I did carefully clean some of the gunk off with a cuetip, got allot of it cleaned where the wires where clean and it still got hot.
