Hi there my name is ryan. I am 25 years old and have been smoking for close to 8 years now.
My mom recently bought an electronic cigarette called green smoke that she ordered online. She brought it over to my place on the weekend and was showing me how it works.

Instantly I was like OMG this is the answer to quitting, as I just got off of an unsuccessful champix run.

So I go to a place here in town that I know sells the e cigs called "smoke NV" Smoke NV Starter Kit

I spend 105 dollars on this and 2 packs of flavors, menthol and chocolate (ewwwww) None of which contain any Nicotine at all!! WTH

So I open it and set it up and it looks to be decent quality, throw a cartridge on and take a puff of the Canadian tobacco taste it comes with. YUCK! at first its not too terrible but after a few puffs I feel almost sick.

Change to menthol YUCK, than to chocolate YUCK.

I am instantly now turned off by this electronic cig thing.

Do all flavours taste this gross? Is the green smoke a better option? My mom seems to enjoy it. AM I DOOMED PLEASE HELP

This is what veterans fear from the cig-a-like vaporizers...that they will turn off potential converts because they suck.

To answer your question...NO! They should absolutely not taste or perform terribly, but some unfortunately do and people end up spending way too much money on complete crap.

I want to save you a bunch of time, money and headache. I'm going to recommend something that is alot bigger than a cigarette. If you absolutely can not see yourself using something the size of a sharpie marker...please ignore my suggestion and wait for a smaller recommendation.

650mah Riva Mega Dual Coil Kit

This kit will perform very well (I took 3 of these on a ski trip last week for friends to use and they all bought them from me at the end of the trip) and the juice from sweet-vapes is downright delicious in my opinion!

Oh no. No, no, no. What you have there is the standard ridiculously-overpriced convenience-store ecig that uses prefilled junk cartridges. :)

I am going to strongly recommend you get a different starter kit (most "good" ecig starter kits are around the $39-60 range, but do not all look like cigarettes) and bottles of liquid to refill your own cartridges (we call it "juice" around here). I personally like the ego-T or Riva-type kit, but if you want one which looks like a cigarette, look for a Volt or a Joye 510 kit.

I can tell you from personal experience that while the cigarette-looking ones are common for most people to start out with, I was done with those after a week of use and was looking for something that actually held a charge on the battery (which is why I went for ego-T or Riva-type kits, which are more along the lines sizewise of a thick pen).

At the moment, I'm about to fill a tank of 18mg nicotine liquid in an Irish Coffee flavor that tastes just like the real thing. The prefilled cartridges seem to never taste good. :)

And... you'll hear a lot here in short order. Start reading, ask tons of questions, and I can guarantee you, if you're willing to give it another shot, you'll find the info and recommendations for where to get it here.

I didn't intend to quit when I started. Within 3 weeks, I had. It works, I swear!

Welcome to the forums! don't be discouraged, my first ecig I tried was from a gas station, and it was a disposable one. The menthol in it tasted terrible! and the battery didn't last at all. We all have our bad experiences. But I am new to vaping myself a little past my one month mark. There are a lot of better models out there if your wanting something the size of a standard cigarette. The only one I have tried is blu, which is the one I am using right now, but there are better ones. I myself can't recommend because I have never tried them...a more experienced person should be able to give you the names of some good one's to try. Don't be discouraged, people talk about great tasting e-juices on here all the time, there are so many vendors and so many flavors, so please don't give up, I promise you will find a unit and juice that you love eventually, it just takes some time and patience. It's a big world out there of pv's and juices, stay strong, and don't be afraid to ask questions. people here are more than happy to help.

Sorry for your bad experience, but please don't give up! Green Smoke gets good reviews online, but there are better things than it for a bit cheaper, too. Listen to/read what people say here and you'll have an awesome experience. Try taking your crappy one back, if you can for at least a partial refund. In my experience, a good chocolate takes patience to find and you may want to try something fruity or sweet starting out.

Hi Ryan & Welcome to ECF! I just noticed you're from edmotnon and I have no idea where that is, but if you're outside the USA it's possible there may be problems getting PV-related stuff shipped into your country. I think this is especially true for Canada unless they laws have been relaxed in the past few days. Please note I am posting this from a standpoint of complete ignorance so if the caution doesn't apply to you please ignore it.

Blessings & best of luck to you, & happy vaping! :vapor:

yeah fruity or sweet or juicy are all great sounding to me

I've had good experience with the grape, but not the mixed berries (something/some berry was just off with it). I get my grape from where I bought my ecig and I love it. My guy got tobacco pure for him, and he keeps swiping my grape to mix with his tobacco. This is a guy who "don't want no fruity cigarettes," blah, blah, blah. In time, he's been using less and less tobacco and more and more grape. I can't recommend a juice vendor because I'm still experimenting with ECF suppliers, but I bought my ecig in the mall and was able to try several juices before purchasing and my starter kit came with a bottle of juice of my choice. I wish you the best of luck and am so glad you're going to give it another shot. I don't think you'll be sorry when you get more comfortable with it.

When I first started vaping, I had a couple good tobacco flavors, and then tentatively explored into other stuff. Now, I have one backup tobacco flavor for those times when I want a tobacco flavor, and I commonly vape cinnamon roll, caramel apple, cheesecake, Irish coffee, dulce de leche, or coffee flavors. Why this is, I dunno. :)

My husband likes a nice spicy cinnamon, some of the menthols, a handful of tobacco flavors, and the same cinnamon roll flavor I have. He can live without my creamy flavors, it appears.

I can recommend (of the ECF vendors) both Vermillion River and Backwoods Brew very strongly. Both are excellent. My husband would also strongly recommend Liberty Flights (another ECF vendor), and I've met the people from Bombay Vaping in passing, and their juice flavors are also good. I'm also fond of VapeDudes, which isn't presently an ECF vendor but which has some great stuff.

Check out the vendors in the forums -- you can read the different forums long before you can post in them. :D

Depending on what area you're in, you may find there are local vapers who might be willing to share tastes of different vendors' juices... but you'll have to hunt them down. I know in my area, there's monthly vaper meetups, and I spend more money on new flavors after each and every one of those.

For flavors from sweet-vapes I can highly recommend Key Lime Pie, Mapacho Tobacco, Bananas Foster, Kona Cream and Classic Apple Pie. Everything I've tried is great, but these are a few of my favorites. Don't get overwhelmed by the choices when you order juice. I personally use a 50/50 mix of pg and vg with great results in the very hardware I suggested. I also like extra flavor and you would be good to go with 18 or 24mg nicotine (order both and maybe a step lower as well).

I wish you the best of luck and hope what I've suggested works well for you!

Oh yes, please do tell us a bit more info on your location :)

Hey Ryan, the Smoke NV is a branded KR808D-1 ... so you can get empty cartos for it and your own e-liquid if you want ... you can also get bigger capacity batteries with the same connector as the Smoke NV (KR808D-1)... you spent way more than you should have, but you can still get some use out of the device. Check out Canadian sites www.CANVAPE.com in the KR808D-1 section for empty cartos and batteries/kits and places like Welcome To Maple Leaf Vapes and/or JUGHEADS.co We've Got the Vapors ! for e-liquid with nicotine ... Cheers.

Don't give up armbar...there is a wonderful world of vaping out there...it's just a learning experience. I recently purchased an eGo for my sister and a co-worker at topshelfvapes.com. Their price was $42.95 for the starter kit which included 2 batteries, 5 carts, 2 atomizers, a pc charger with wall charger adapter and a e-cig case. They also gave me a 20% discount by including ECF2012 in the coupon code section. Then I ordered them 5 cartomizers each and 5 different juices. The total order was $111.75 for two complete set-ups. One has already quit smoking completely and the other is down to three analogs (cigarettes) a day. I don't work for or promote any particular seller, just letting you know what deal I found. Hoosier also sells eGo's and they have super fast shipping and great customer service.

For myself, I like bakery style juices the best (sweet cookie/cake flavors) The closest I come to a tobacco flavor is called RY4, otherwise I vape Copper Creek's CC Blend, Kickbassvapor's Gooey Better Cake and kickbassvapor's Rice Krispity Treat. My hubby likes Copper Creek Blend, Copper Creek Passion Fruit and all of the fruit Danish blends they have.
An inexpensive juice I found I really like is from TopVapor called French Vanilla Tobacco (the tobacco is very very light) Most places sell the juices in 5 ml "sampler" bottles at 0-36 mg of nicotine. I started off with 3 small bottles of 6mg, 12mg and 18mg and 2 small bottles of 24mg. I ended up needing more 24mg to get off the cigarettes completely.

Good Luck with searching what is best for you and let us know how you are doing. I am 2.5 months into vaping now!

I just started using e-cigs within the last two months and I must say my first experience was similar to yours. I got a disposable e-cig from the corner store and I don't know if it was too old or what but I took one pull and got a mouth full of terrible tasting numbness. I didn't even think about trying again until a few weeks later when I saw an Ego starter kit for sale at a local smoke shop on sale and went from there.

The it seems like the two most important things are having something that can be reliable all day and having a flavor or a few flavors that you won't get tired of and that are also fulfilling. Make sure you have two batteries so if one dies use can use the other while charging. I like the ego kits because the batteries last a really long time. As far as flavors go I would recommend alien visions. They have a tobacco flavor called Bobas Bounty that is FANTASTIC and I would also recommend the root beer and strawberry they have. Another "e-juice" vendor that people seem to like is Deejstuff. I have a bottle of his peppermint flavor that has really cool(cold feeling) but not overpowering flavor if you like the menthol thing
