Hi guys. I'm writing from the UK
I decided to quit cigarettes and been attracted by electronic ones.
I bought the E-Lites 80 from a supermarket, apparently they are the most popular ones here. Then I came up to this forum and I found a website like this

Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

with completely different stuff, and unknown brands, component, to the list of this website.

Best Electronic Cigarette Review | E Cigarette UK Reviews
I thought they were everything you could find.

Can you please explain me the difference? It's quite confusing for someone new like me.

By the way, I like the taste of the E-lites but the battery runs out quickly and I have the impression that 1 cartridge don't last like 40cigarettes (as advertised) but much less.

Can I actually buy something better at the same price?
I like the E-lites look, similar to a real cigarette, so I would to stick with that kind of look, but I would consider anything else.

I've started with a cheap ecig, that I bought, just to see, if I'd like it. As you can tell, I did. Therefore, I bought a kit from Apollo ecigs the batteries are also cigarette like. It was a difference between night and day. Flavor and duration of the charge much better.

A view days later, I bought a ego-vv (variable voltage) and some clearomizer. I noticed there are differences in what clearo goes with a certain flavor and what voltage to use. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, I should have invested in a Vamo V2 instead.

Long story short, to keep it on the cheap side, I'd buy a good starter kit. The kit depends on what you prefer as the user. The cigarette type batteries won't last long. However, the kits usually come with a "cigarette pack" looking box that can hold cartos and two batteries; and even charge a battery. I've seen other kits with two eGo batteries and clearomizer for a good price. Those batteries will last longer. However, the don't look and feel like a cigarette. No matter what battery you get, you want to make sure it's controlled via a button. The automatic batteries have a small hole, where the eliquid could leak in and destroy the battery.

The other thing is liquids. You'll have to find the once you like. However, some liquids need to "steep", in order to develope their full flavor. This can last just a few days or 1 week. I taste the liquid, if it doesn't taste right, I let it sit for a few days (in a closet), shaking the bottle once every day.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply.

I'm trying to understand why all the famous brands (like E-lites) in the list of that website (with reviews) are worse than all these unknown components from these other websites? How can you tell if they're better?

At least with these "famous" brands, you know what you get, considering all the other people reviews. Although you are stuck cause you have to keep on buying parts from their company only.

Anyway, I would like to stick with the normal cigarette look.
And maybe is better to buy from a website in the UK?

The majority of us, probably, started out with a "cig-alike." The cheaper, most commonly available ones are nowhere near as good as the more expensive ones you'll either order online or buy from a vape store. So the chief virtue of the disposables or even the cheap rechargeables seems to be that they're a starting point. Once you begin exploring the vaping universe, there's a dizzying amount of options.

Much depends on your wallet. If you decide to up the ante a bit, you may find yourself happy with the eGo-type vapes, or you may want one (or more) of the truly beautiful and high-tech models that do everything but rub your shoulders and make your breakfast. My wife and I use eGo's and we're very satisfied with them. They are budget-friendly, mid-sized, have numerous accessory options, and most important to us at least, won't break the bank. Welcome to ECF and read, read, read!

With 'the normal cigarette look' (cigalike) models you are limited to very low mah batteries a limited choice in compatible delivery devices which most times mean only being able to use very low ml capacity cartomizers.
The "famous" as you call them brands use mass marketing targeted at an uninformed audience to make sales, I'd be willing to bet that at least 50% of the positive reviews you've read originate from the company itself.

There is nothing wrong with cigalikes if they do their job, keep you off of cigarettes.

The benefits of the bigger battery 'e cigs' is longer battery life, in some models more power to the coil, and a more standardized threading that allows the user a wide choice of delivery device options.

There are sites in the US like that pretend to rate the best e-cigs. As you've noticed, by reading on this site, you will not see any of those recommended. The various Joye eGo kits are the ones most recommended for beginners. A good site in England to check is Liberty Flights. Good service and products. They also have a location in the US. That's how I know about them, as I've ordered from them. I'd look at the eGo Twist. They will give you variable voltage. The eGo also comes with 510 threading, and that is the most popular threading available. That means there are all kinds of accessories for it. The eGo will be larger than the cigarette style because it's a larger, longer lasting battery.

I can tell you that many of the more common type seen are the cig-a-like types. They seem to be "name brand" and many of these places make false information claiming them to be the best. I have even seen one website some time ago (a few years ago) showing different so called name brands and comparison. It made it like a review from an individual person vaping the different ones and comparing; "tasted like a real cig", "length of battery" and so on. However if you look at the html language (code) you will see that it was created by the very company that made the one that was the best.

These also sell for a lot of money and almost always disappoint many of the people that use them. This is a big problem with these companies and new people. Thankfully you did find this forum. The forum is made of real people that use the electric cigarette/personal vaporizers. There are some real honest opinions. Remember, do not get confused because we all state our own opinion.

Now, Joyee is a name brand of the EGO type e-cig. Some people (I'm right now in Malaysia but from Texas) call them e-cigars. The reason is that they are thicker in size than a cigarette and about the size of a cigar. Some others are name brand also. There are a lot of different clones and many of them sell cheaper than the name brand and some people do not see any real difference in length of time they last or the way they function while some people do say there is a difference.

Depending on some of these units, if you like the way it is you may be able to refill them. Some of these name brands use three parts (battery, atomizer and a tank called a cartridge) while some use two parts (battery and the mouthpiece or cartomizer) - in truth the cartomizer is the atomizer and the tank or cartridge all in one piece. It depends on which type but some are able to be cleaned out and reused by filling up the cartomizer or the cartridge with e-juice (the liquid that is heated up by the atomizer and carries the flavor and nicotine to you and "becomes" the vapor or "smoke".

The way it is advertised is very misleading. They use the amount of nicotine it contains and compares that to some of the different "analogs" (cigarettes). For instance, some of the cigarettes contain 1.2 mg of nicotine in each cigarette. 10 cigarettes is then 12mg of nicotine (this is hypothetical and not necessarily a real amount) then 20 cigarettes is about 24mg of nicotine. I am assuming they are referring to "lights" and so 24 mg may be 2 packs of cigarettes (which I don't think that would be correct but could be). This also had me confused as well since they seemed to last about 5 cigarettes (puffing on them for about the same as I would a real cigarette). This causes a lot of confusion among many new people.

If you are looking at getting a new unit, there are some great types. I have been vaping off and on since 2006 and after many different cig-a-like disappointments, found this forum (different username then) and got me a KGO. The KGO is an EGO clone that was at 3.7v and lasted about 12 hours of vaping time. To get the vaping time, take the mAh and about 100 = 1 hour. This can depend on several things - the way you vape is one but the biggest is what you have on it. I also used an atomizer and a tank cartridge and was getting juice in my mouth (yuck) so I started dripping. I stopped using this full time and was using it only when I could not smoke (typically only at work cuz can not smoke inside the work place - by the local law in San Antonio). After my two KGO batteries broke I stopped using them and was smoking and would just suffer at work. I then got a new battery but it did not last long because I dropped it at work and it broke. After several months, I noticed the KGO had a variable volt (vv) and bought it. I then bought the spinner vv to see what the difference was (the original KGO vv was only like 850 mAh instead of the 11500 (I think that is the original KGO mAh). These were great until the Spinner VV fell into the fryer at work (not good and got in trouble too) and the KGO vv was overheating and not lasting long at all. I was also getting tired of dripping or using cartomizers (always burning and even going through e-juice like water in a desert - fast). I decided it was time to get a different type of unit. EGO and others like it, the unit is the battery and to replace it costs about $25 or more. I decided to get the VAMO because you can take out the battery(battteries) and charge it and when you have to replace the batteries they do not cost as much (I can find 2 18350 batteries for about $25 to $30 - sometimes a little less and sometimes a little more).

I don't ever recommend a Mod (Modified type unit) to a beginner though. This is just me. I will recommend an EGO (clone or name brand) with a decent clearomizer. You can get some of the different Kanger types or a vivi nova type (mini would be best for the EGO size - my opinion only). Many of the places are now selling EGO types with a type of clearomizer. This is perfect for the beginner. Depending on how often you smoked would depend, if you are able to vape (use the electric cigarette) at work and you have a plug in outlet would depend on what type you get. If you can plug it in, get a "pass through" - this type does not have a battery but you plug it in and vape it ("smoke"). If you get a "pass through" battery type, you plug it in and it will charge the battery and you vape or use it (you use the power from the battery and the plug is charging the battery - so it must be a charged battery). The pass through battery type is not recommended for "chain vapers" like myself cuz it will cause the battery to always drain completely and will weaken the battery and cause it to overheat (hence my KGO vv problems). If you are not able to plug it in (yes in a vehicle with a lighter plug works just as good from my understanding) then you will want to make sure the battery will last you at least that long. Many sets will come with two batteries so you can be charging the one from work while using the other. This is recommended also because it will help you get started. Later on you can buy another battery or two and have one or two being charged while vaping one and having another ready (especially if you become like other people - swapping to a different flavor). By having it this way, you will have two batteries and two atomizers/cartomizers/clearomizers (etc..) ready with two different juices and can vape one then switch without having to take off the atomizer/clearomizer/cartomizer and put the other on. Some people also like to vape different nicotine strengths - based on their previous smoking habits...more nicotine in the morning and less nicotine in the evening - just depends on the person.

If you can find other people who vape near you, you can meetup with them and try different e-juices and even try different units. This can really save you some money and even help you plan on any purchases in the future. Some people do find there are stores nearby them that will also let you try different juices to see what you like. Look around the forum...there are groups that you can join that are based on area and also different sub forums. You can always go to one of these and maybe even find a meet-up or gathering of different people that would be willing to let you try what they have.

I hope that this and other comments have assisted you in your confusion and hope you are now a little more educated and more equiped to get into vaping.

After I bought the E-lites I started enjoying vaping a lot, but I guess it's just the initial excitment. Hopefully it will not turn into another addiction.
Generally speaking I only smoke when I drink alcohol, otherwise I luckily survive without doing it. That happens during the weekend when I spend the night out, not every day. For this reason I decided to stick with the cigarette look. I know that I might run out of battery and e-liquid during the night, but I can easily bring another spare e-cig around. Obviously not the E-lites, I will not buy them anymore.
Honestly I don't think I would feel confortable in public to vape with a big, weird shaped model, like the eGo. I'd rather use it privately at home.
But I'm aware that if vaping turns into an addiction (hopefully not) the e-cig type look will not be very confortable and I will need something bigger and functional.
Thanks for helping and sharing your stories. You really impressed me.

Hello & welcome Slideaway :)

The Riva kit from Vape Escape is an excellent choice - use discount code ECF10 for 10% off. Don't forget to get some e-liquid as well :D

The review site you linked to is like many others out there - they are a marketing ploy. I.E. not true reviews but just advertising :(

have a look at this list for some really good UK e-cig vendors -

http://allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/1148/cigarette-liquid-vendors-discount-codes

I wouldn't go as far as saying they are not true reviews, after all the majority of the reviews I can see left for e-lites by readers on that site are pretty rubbish. Same goes for Skycig, the user reviews for both are definitely worth referring to for anyone considering either brand. I just spent about an hour reading through the Skycig reviews, enough to put anyone off, I don't think they were left by the brand :) Sky Cig Review - The Latest Skycig Reviews By Real Users

Just to throw my preference in there I actually like the Jacvapour cig-a-like that I use out and about and I also have their EGO type battery that I use at home. Had no problems with either.
