I got a batch of XL CE2s that tasted funny - kind of a nasty, burnt taste. I decided it was probably because of dry wicking and I'd just cut them down for my tank mod, for when the guts of that died. I cut several of them down last night and found machining lubricant inside most of them. Not huge amounts, just a thin film on the metal sleeve, but enough to leave black marks on the silicone sealing sleeves as I pushed them out. I plan to clean these thoroughly before I use them in my tank. And I'm kind of rethinking using CE2s unless they're cut down. Not a huge fan of smoking machine lubricant.

I am getting more bad Boge 510 cartos this time its from Ivape, its not the juices fault as some would like to say because I have 6 bads ones with different juice, also before you even but juice in it just take the white draw ring out and dry hit it without screwing it into the battery, you cant taste it and no not to but juice in it. I dont think its a burnt taste more like a dull oily taste.

You want to make sure you're getting at least 30 or 35 drops in them. I even put a drop right down the air hole and let it soak through.
I have tried so many different versions of carto's I get dizzy thinking about the styles and rev's.
but one thing is certain, I have NEVER been able to put more than 6 (six) drops in any cartomizer. Brand new, used for a week, a month ( I have some still working great after 3 mos) I can never get more than those 6 drops in .
If I do, it all leaks out of the bottom. all around the threads. i refill and refill trying to get rid of the burnt taste, thinking that it's empty, but no it can't be if it leaks out, rite????
obviously I'm doing something wrong.
How do you get 30 -35 drops in . I must be doing it wrong......
thanks in advance cuz that would help ia such a big way!!!!

It seems like I've been having really bad luck with cartos too...

I've been using Bauway 510 LR 1.8 cartos and standard 510 Boge cartos.

The bauway cartos:
4 out of 5 from the first pack I opened tasted like crap after the first few drags - the fifth one I didn't test.
The thing about it is that I'm a bit of a worry wart, so when my cartos started tasting like crap I tore them open, knowing it would kill them but worrying more about burning batting/wick in my lungs than saving a few bucks.
Sure as heck the wick and batting was burnt on all 3 I tried. I had been filling them with the syringe so it was suggested that I use the condom method with an exact amount of juice. That one tasted funny right away and was burnt as well.
The seller gave me another box of cartos on the house (which was nice of them) and took the last one left from the first box back to test themselves.

So I tried filling a couple more from this new pack... I filled them according to sellers instruction and the first one tasted burnt after about 10 drags - sure enough it was.
I'm still working on the second one, it seems to be ok for now - about 25ish drags which includes a top off of a few drops onto the batting.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I just had a stroke of bad luck on the first few cartos because I like the look and feel of them and when they're working they work great.

It also makes me wonder how many people (including myself) are smoking burning filler when their cartos taste like garbage....

The Boges:
I found that out of the 5 I've tested so far they all seem to taste like a wet dog smell... if that makes sense... I'm not sure how to expain it.... but it's nasty. They don't burn like the LR's but they sure taste funny, no matter what flavor, no matter if the carto is new. Maybe it's a personal taste thing...

Six drops? Where exactly are you putting those drops? Are you trying to drip into the center tube of the cartomizer? If so, this is the place where you DO NOT want to put any juice, not even one drop. The ejuice should go into the filler surrounding the center tube (that tube houses the vertical atomizer coil).

The filler of an average cartomizer is able to accept ~1 ml or a bit more, at least. I use a syringe to fill mine for the first time to ensure even saturation of the filler's fibers.

Here's a drawing of a carto's anatomy. Look at it carefully--no juice in the center tube!
