Hi folks,

I just received an Ego-C Twist CE5 starter kit in the mail. Un-boxed it, filled it with Halo Tribeca (i'm new to this liquid), and fired it up. I took a drag but accidentally realized i had left the plastic cap on the mouthpiece. Went in for another drag at 4 volts and the flavor was intensely burnt. The atomizer smells. I also don't see any wicks in it.

Anyways, did I burn something and inhale plastic? Is that even possible? What's going on here?

You may have killed the coil. That center tube can be screwed out of the base. The shop where you got it should have replacements.
3 bucks max.

Have you let it sit for a bit?

If I may give my opinion I would forget about the ce5's. You can get a Protank or even a Vivi Nova for about 12 bucks at a shop.
You will be much happier.

No....compared to cigarettes vaping is golden. Now vaping burnt sucks. Let it dry and try again. Now I must ask...when you vape it...are you holding it down or horizontally? I believe the ce5 is a top coil, meaning the head it on the top of the post.
Keep it level when taking a vape.

EDIT: the ce5 is a bottom coil. No need to keep it horizontal unless the juice is very low.

Never attempt to vape a Just filled device. New wicks need time to saturate.

Remove wick assembly
Soak in Pure grain alcohol - Vodka should do. Let soak a few hours
Rinse under HOT water
Wipe with a paper towel and sit aside over night to dry
Reassemble
Try again.

*Notes:
As long as a coil is reading approximately correct ohms it is useable
Silica wicks do NOT burn
Weak wicking WILL cause e-liquid to burn onto wick/coil and leave a bad taste
Soaking/Dry burning will clean a Silica wick/coil

They are reuseable.......to some extent.

If you held the button down for 4 seconds on the 1st puff, before the wick had a chance to fully saturate, I could see you definitely getting a burnt tasting hit. What happens is the coil gets hotter than it should due to a lack of liquid, which ends up burning whatever liquid is on it. It should dissiplate after a while, nothing to really worry about.
