Brand-new Nautilus Mini Angst! 911!

I Hi vape friends! Got a nautilus Mini for my birthday yesterday. I was thrilled for a few hours. Then. ... the same 'dirty-sock" taste from my glass bdc Evod :( Bf so sick of spending $ on my vape stuff. Using MVP 2 also relatively new. Can't get a new mod... I've reached the $ & patience limit & beyond! Taste very muted. Vapor great....headache and nausea. Using Grimm Creations vanilla custard & vaping Birdy Creme de la Vanilla. Aware of caveats for dark/sweet juice but. .... misery after 12 hours? 'Motor oil' taste too. Washed new parts in vodka, rinsed with zero filtered water, used new q-tips to dry. Followed instructions per Aspire to the letter. Tried all 4 airholes and tried different w/v. ANY help welcomed and appreciated!

My wife had the same problem for her she was hitting it like an analog hitting it as hard as she could and was really gumming up her coils and wicking wasn't keeping up. I had to have her take smoothe even draws for the full 10 seconds and now she has had no problems. Thats what worked for her not sure if it helps you but thought i would share her solution and good luck.

Thank you :) I'll try that. I'm used to 7.5 watts with Kanger dbc Evod. I did notice low watts/volts makes juice accumulate more in the center tube and drip tip. More q-tips and wasted juice!
Something to try... when I first started I was a perpetrator of the "drawing to hard". What I did was if I could hear the air or it whistled, I was drawing to hard. Nice slow even draws wins the day!

You're so right! I forget sometimes. Also I don't eat enough and that probably doesn't help the nausea. I'm not the best about water either though ppl constantly remind. Still getting a slight motor oil taste though.. gross! It doesn't do that in the Evod just dirty sock taste. I've never tasted a dirty sock but that's what it SEEMS like Lol!

Just took a long slow drag at 9 watts. Crazy vapor! Better flavor. I've been vaping 9 months had kanger mini 2 & 3, Evod iclear 30. .. now the Naughy mini...I search for Holy Grail tank but I feel it's mostly operator error aka doing stupid stuff since others have less problems *sigh*

Something else you can try is cleaning both 510 connections with qtip and rubbing alcohol, the tank and device connections will get a build up of juice condensation along with heating up can cause molding. That could be a source for bad taste.

It's disappointing with all the hype! Some say the included coils suck. That would be bad on Aspire's part, word of mouth is everything. I use expensive juice like Grimm Creations and Vaping Birdy so quality of the juice probably isn't it. Maybe operator error cuz I seem to have trouble with them all! Cleaning and soaking in vodka and air drying helped the oil taste. The flavor is still muted imo and frustrating! They say higher watts are better with this coil. 9 watts on my MVP 2 tastes burnt in 1.8 ohm coil. I am back to the old Evod glass for now til it gets better. Blah. Hope you get improvement! Some piece of the puzzle is missing here. Thanks for responding :)

I find that once one of those coils start tasting bad, might as well toss it immediately. I've wasted too much time trying to rehab bad ones, and I can never remove that burnt taste or oily taste once I get it. My minis were both clean of motor oil when I got them, but I've put a few coils in, where right away I got that foul taste. Others it's been a case of user error, like you, I'd suck the coil dry...seems like if that happens once, unless it's just a little bit, the coil's ruined. I've had great success by slowly going up to about 11.3W on my istick and 11.7 on my IPV. I work up from lowest voltage settings to there, and don't go past it. Once it's there, it's good to go, and seems to last a pretty long time. Usually I also start vaping on it at a slightly lower setting to heat the coil up. That is what works for me.
Grimm's creations was the ejuice i started vaping on, but i would not say it's super good...i don't know its vg/pg ratio, my method seems to work pretty well up to about 50/50. where do you get the grimms? i've looked for it online but couldn't find it and my local b and m is a ripoff lol.

Hey. Someone somewhere wrote, that either are people totally satisfied with the Mini, or it just doesn't work for them and they are on the edge of tossing it.
Me, I'm in the first category. Bought a second one last week, took it out, washed it, filled up with high VG, with te stock coil, then coil prep, primer puffs, the usual stuff every BVC user must know and do, and its just bliss. Now vaping 95VG/5vodka, no flavour juice on 11.2W od 2nd hole, and the vapour's great. It just works.
There is a bit of fiddling around it when you start, ad there are a looooooot of threads here about the Naughty Mini BVC etc.

Have you tried another juce, something popular, that has been proven to work? IDK..a Space Jam or smth...

Oh yeah, I'm going to try that right now!:vapor:

To the OP, you might find using the above as a control of your device vs e liquid to check where the problem lies.
I also like those heavy sugary vanilla custards but they can be tricky in clearo's and are easier to use in drippers (rda's) where you can see the effects on wick and coil.
Doubt if there is any machine oil on an authentic Nautilus! Their QC is good, coils could be too hot so as said try working up to the 'sweet spot' and relax and take longer softer draws if that seems to improve the issue. As regards flavour, using the smaller air holes will produce better flavour but master the device beforehand.

Good luck and Merry Christmas
