Hi my name is Ed. Smoked many years. 40 years, about. First smoked Kools. Then Mboro, then for many years rolled my own. Drum. Then Peter Sokebye, Danish export. If i smoked store bought recently I'd buy Mboro. Probably up to smoking bout 2 PPD.
June 7th I quit. Using Chantix now. I started vaping June 14th, so now vaping about a month. Bought starter kit from Safecig. I LOVE it. Dont know why I smoked for so long.
OK, so now I'm using Safecigs, Menthol 24mgs. Using about 1 1/2 to 2 Cartridges per day. I love it. I guess I feel like I could just stay this way, but been reading about juice, etc. The cost not too too bad, I think $ 1.66 per carto, and at 2 cartos per day, not terrible compared to Mboro. BUT. I like the vaping, I like the whole idea of it, I like the ritual, the taste, the nico feeling, the throat kick, the feeling in lungs when I inhale that first puff with full battery and brand new cartridge. Thats the best, the first puff of day w new bat & cart.
So, Where should I go from here ?? Dont know anything at all about vaping except what I just wrote. I dont know anyone else who vapes.
Should I just order juice & refill safecig carts ?? what kind and brand of juice ?? from who ?? how much per empty cartridge ?? 4 - 5 drops ??Should I get REAL equipment. I dont know where to start.I think I would like to try some juice, right ?? Menthol or Menthol / Tabacco ?? 24 mg ?? stronger ?? who should I buy from ??
Advice on equipment would be GREATLY appreciated.

Regards, Thanks, And Happy to meet other Vapers

Ed

Welcome... There are many great places to order juice from. I mainly order from Backwoods Brew. I smoked a pack a day so I go for the 18mg strength. Also, if you are looking for something that performs a little better than the safecig (and still looks like a regular "real" cig) than I would take a look at the Volt (1st choice) at smokelessimage.com or the Bloog (2nd choice, exact same as 1st except cheaper) at bloogplanet.com. Again, welcome and this is just the beginning, the amount of information you will get from this site is incredible.... Happy Vaping!!!

One more thing, order juice in smallest size you can get (usually 10ml) and order about 5 flavors or so. That way you can try them out for the ones you really like. I don't pay too much attention to juice reviews because taste is so subjective. I like to sample them and then order larger sizes of the ones I really like....

If your happy with your safecig why not just stay with it until you feel it's not enought for you. There are lots of juice vendors that sell small sample bottles so you can refill your carts/cartos. After you've read more of the forum you'll get a feel for what others have upgraded to but since you are happy with the ecig you have why upgrade just yet? What you will find after reading more of the forum is that a lot of people are going to recommend an ego or Riva. They would be your logical next step up. Enjoy what you have until you are ready to upgrade.

If you're only on your second month vaping, keep in mind that your taste buds might change. That happened to me, I was using Vapor4Life's Nuport and it suddenly tasted repulsive to me, so I switched to fruiter flavors (which I would have never expected to like, being a marb red then marb menthol smoker for years). So be sure to do as rhinsen says and get tons of different flavors. Even ones you might not think you'd like, because who knows, in two months, you might. But whatever you get, be sure to stay right around the same nicotine level you've been using (if that's been working for you). And most of all have fun.

Glad you've joined us! The advice everyone has given is really spot on. Like tmcase, I think upgrading your equipment should be done when you fail to get satisfaction out of what you have. The riva/ego advice is true- most people enjoy them (I do for some of my vaping), but there are mods of all costs and merits and as you progress, one of these may suit you better. Get juice now, because you definitely seem ready for that. But read about the ego/riva, the box mod, juice mods, tube mods and variable volts. You may decide (like me) that after (for me 30) years of smoking boring cigs you want a variety in this habit-or maybe you'll get lucky and just pick one. Take some time, read, ask questions and then go with your gut and enjoy whatever pv device you pick!

Hi all & thanks for advice & info.

A couple of questions & comments come to mind. Questions first:

1 ) Mod is short for ?

2 ) PV = Personal Vaporizer ?

3 ) I used to puff smoke and recently now vapor into my mouth, and then inhale what I had in my mouth. I find that I now sometimes suck on my safecig directly into my lungs. ( Kinda like what I used to do with my fimo pipe & weed when I was a much youger man ) Is there a name for this? Is it common to do this ? I like the sensation in my throat & lungs, and I feel I get a better nicotine dose if I do this. Also, if in public, I hold my breath for a little bit, and I exhale little or no vapor. I dont want people talking to me, or questioning me, or asking if I am smoking, etc.

Comments

1 ) I am using safecig now, but definitely NOT for the looks. I dont like the " real " cig look. I am using a black battery and a black skin on the cartridge. It has a more discrete look, I can pull it out of my shirt pocket, suck on it, and it doesnt even get noticed that I am dosing myself with nicotine in public. At home, I can definitely see myself going for something more mechanical. I like mechanics, electronics, shiney objects, etc. I like effective machinery. I like the pic that tmcase posted of his " Indulgence ". I can see myself going for something like that. Especially if it looks cool, is effective, etc

All comments and advice will be appreciated,

Ed

I have tried SafeCig - pretty good. But best taste/flavor by far IMHO is GreenSmoke. I am not an expert but just what I think.
I smoke Blu but compared to other brands out there - V2, GreenSmoke, SafeCig etc Blu certainly is the lowest quality. I guess I was drawn in by their advertising.

Stay away from those branded ones, IMO. There are plenty of sites out there that sell the generic kits for much cheaper, as well as parts for it for much cheaper as well.

My neighbor turned me on to e-cigs, he bought from V2. They were pretty good I thought, but I ended up with a the same quality or better for a lower price (XT9 E Cigs Home). Even used a 20% off coupon, which was nice.

So the best I can tell so far it's a matter of personal preference and experimentation. Just have to play around with them for awhile to find your comfort zone. I want to try the e-liquid soon.
