:(Trying to duplicate safecig taste draw, hit, etc.
Got menthol 24 mg juice from Don at B.Woods. Using condom method. Maybe I'm overfilling ? I saturated mattting in juice & condom, thread end down. , I soaked it overnight, then let drain, blew thru hole. It didnt draw or smoke too well, then after 4 -5 drags, battery light started to blink ( like its supposed to do when battery is dead or dying, but it was fully charged ), I took apart cart & battery, cleaned contacts w alcohol, the used same bat w safecig cart & it worked fine.
Got another soaking now, do I need to let it sit now that batting is saturated? It got filled from scew end, is saturated. How long do I let it drain. How important is it that I clear center hole. ? What am I doing wrong ?

Also, If I wanna go higher end for better, what shoud I get, variable volt ? Vertical ? Horizontal ? If Im willing to spend 150. what should I focus on. I want consistency & reliablity. I figure I can experiment w juices & get right taste eventually if I know that I have quality equipment.

Any & all thoughts appreciated.

If I had 150 to spend I would get a REO!

As for soaking the carts... I never heard that. You can either drip or use condom method to fill but you have to be careful not to over fill the cart. If you over fill it will be like sucking on a wet lump of toilet paper and flood the atty causing very little if any vapor. At least, with most carts that's how they work. Never had a SafeCig though so maybe they are different then other ecigs.

One step up would be to Ego or Riva 510 at Liberty-Flights.com (they always have the latest Riva version) and press the 20% off upper left front page first. I recommend blank cartomizers on those and Boge are most popular but there are many other choices.

Re cartos - I do not do condom method. I use 510 manuals and KR808D-1 manuals with soft-cap cartos that have defined central air channel.

To fill a blank - I pop the cap and add juice into the stuffing w/ the carto off the battery. I hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole while I do it. I tilt the carto, and dripping down the inner wall into the stuffing I add 18 drops per ml of carto capacity, wait 15-30 seconds, then drip in however many more drops it will easily soak in. Then I clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into the tissue, puff into the threaded end to clear the air channel (I want to see light through it). If the top of the stuffing looks sopping, I touch a tissue to it. Then I cap (or in my case put a plastic or delrin drip tip on as a mouthpiece) and let the carto settle on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure all stuffing is damp.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit dry or a bit light or a bit funny tasting or if the carto is getting too warm, I take it off the battery and add a bit of juice (at that point usually 5-8 drops - whatever it wants), then clean up, cap, and continue vaping.

From reading their website, their cartos are one time usage thing, use and pitch when empty. Those type are usually impossible to refill, your best bet would be to check out the suppliers listed on the main forum page and do a little shopping around. Also the batteries look to be automatic, if you get juice in those they die. Stay away from mods until you've figured out how things work and check out the ECF Library, it has tons of stuff to help you to get started.

Well, for $150 you could get a very nice high end mod, but not afford the batteries, charger, or juice.

You'd be close though...

Or, you could drop $30 for a Riva 510 ego kit, get a couple packs of 510 cartomizers that are much better than what you're used to using, and a few bottles of juice that will last you a good month. Probably for about $80-$90 shipped in total. For a couple $ more you could get a larger battery Joye Ego kit instead, that has an on/off switch capability (skip the tank version though). You would still be well under your price limit.

Now, you'll find a lot of responses in this forum about one type or another, but the one thing that's important is what you will use. Do you want something slim and stealth? Do you want something that just works really damn well, no matter how strange it looks? Do you want something in between?

Thanks for all replies. Helping a lot. Yes these prefilled safecig carts do not seem to refill well.

I guess to cut to the chase, I'll reply to BladeBarriers last question.

I live on long island, where I had been paying 10 bucks per pack, & smoking 1 1/2 PPD. So, though I hate to lay out the intial, I know I'll be spending a lot less in long run.

I see myself having both, One really GREAT quailty one that will last & last, both looks REALLY REALLY strange, that I will use at home, in car , etc. AND ALSO, one REALLY top end steath one that again will be reliable, easily refillable, look SUPER COOL, that

I will use when out in public.

( I like things that look cool. Usually shiny too. ;) .I'll try to post a couple pics of my toys w this post, if I can figure out how.

I would spend 300 per month on Cigs ( actually OVER that, ) so, I can do the math.

I am enjoying vaping, Kids are grown & out, so why not spend the money on myself, doing something that is not as damaging as cigarettes.

Ed

WOW!!!! Love that T-Bird! You have nice "toys."

I have a super cool mod now (a REO,) but for over nine months of my 1-year plus of vaping, I used a Riva Kit from E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings. It cost me $30 initially, and it just worked! I loved it for a long time. Then I got my mod(s) and that changed things again. I'd suggest getting a good, solid Riva or eGo kit for the workhorse, and maybe a slim 510 or KR808 for the going-out model.

Even though you have the money, before you buy a mod, do your research. Until you really hit your vaping stride, you could just jump from (expensive) mod to mod because you're still learning what you want from an e-cig.

For stealth vaping, a kr808 style is the way to go. Bloog, vapor4life, and volt are all good products. They're a bit pricey, but well under your initial budget. The bloog cartomizers are what I use. I'm told they're very similar to, if not the same as, the volt cartos. The only big decision you'll need to make is automatic or manual. On manual batteries you need to press a button, but if the battery is sealed (check with the manufacturer first) then you won't ruin it if you overfill the cartomizer. Automatics are just drag and be satisfied, as they work on air flow or sound, depending. I've never had my bloog accidentally go off, or anything either (but some cheap brands can do that). You just have to be very careful that you don't get juice inside an automatic battery, which is open where it meets the carto, as that can destroy it instantly.

Ok, for wierd ones you're on your own. There are a ton of wierd looking mods out there. Dig around the forums a bit, and you'll see plenty. The Darwin is wierd as hell looking. The GLV3. The Golden Greek with the feed system. Anything with a MAP, or liquinator style tank on it. The metal Reo's. The Provari. Of course, all of those are good at what they do as well, which is why they're all very popular.

I refill the SafeCig carts all the time. Made a little tool to pop the plastic end off (stripped electrical wire with a tiny little hook at the end). Some come out easy, some break (takes a few to get used to it and not break the little plastic ridge on the inside). I reuse em until they get compressed to about 2/3 of the cart or I break the ridge.

Dunno what your looking for as far as how long it will last, but I usually manage about 20 - 25 drops. that will last me all day at work until I get home, but ima light vaper. I drip with the threads down on a slight angle so I'm not hitting the wick. I do 3 at a time and watch as it gets absorbed and then do it again. After about 12, I put it in my hand and swing it to let the centrifugal motion drive the juice farther into the cart. After about 20, I blow gently through the threaded end. If I hear liquid sounds, its full. Otherwise I add 3 more drops and repeat.

Some carts take more, some less... also as an fyi in case it isnt mentioned elsewhere on the forum, RN4081 batteries and cartomizers are fully compatible with all your Safecig kit. I find the 4081 cartomizers don't take as much as the SafeCig ones, but are easier to refill.

Hope that helps,

G.

    in a cave, eh?
A REO Grand isn't a bad way to go. Sure, you might find yourself eyeing yet another mod at some point in the future, but a REO will perform as well as or better than any of the other standard suggestions people will throw at you. If you need something "stealthier", there's the REO Mini (less options, but smaller). Only thing is a REO with batteries, charger and atomizer (or cartomizers) is going to put you over $150.

I am NOT trying to disrespect you. Please take what I say as advice and nothing more. If I word anything in a way that seems offesive, it is not my intent. Just trying to be honest with you. Having said that...

SafeCigs ... IMHO ... are for beginners who didn't do their research before they paid and arm and a leg for a less-than-adiquate e-cig.

Like others have said, the battery on your SafeCig is automatic. Those things get juice in them and go dead FAST. If you decide to step up to a high quality e-cig that is low maintanace, cool and "shinny", and affordable ... Grab a 510 or an 808 with a MAUAL battery.

I get all my hardware from MyVaporStore.Com. Great prices, professional customer servivce and FAST shipping.

I use a JOYE 510 and a KR808D1 with manual batteries. Why go for something that "looks REALLY REALLY Strange"? Both the 510 and 808 come in different colors (I suggest "shinny" stainless steal), you can get Kanger 510 Cartomizers that are SUPER easy to refill. Also, the KR808D1 Blank Cartomizers are WAY easy to refill.

I just ordered my first batch of refillable 510 CE3 Smokymizer XL that are supposed to be AWSOME.

    I get all my e-liquid from GormetVapor.Com.

I have a buddy on facebook that just dropped over $145 on his SafeCig Deluxe Kit. He is going to try and send it back for a refund.

For less than $80 at MyVaporStore.Com, he can get a JOYE 510 Ultimate Starter Kit (EVERYTHING you need including a PCC and a Passthu) and 5 Kanger 510 Refillable Cartomizers. From Gourmet Vapor, he can order just about ANY flavor e-lquid you can think of. They even have a Favor Creator which allows you to make your own juice flavors. You can get your juice from them in 100% VG or 100% PG ... or combine PG and VG. I prefer 80%/20% PG/VG Mix at Triple Flavor for maximum vapor and taste.

    Hope I helped.
