I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I am BRAND new to vaping. I discovered vaping by accident when I saw an e-cig at a corner store and was immediately intrigued - but cautious. I would LOVE to switch from a really dangerous and unhealthy habit to something far better for me, but I want to make sure I a) don't leap from the frying pan into the fire and b) find a product I like enough that I am able to make the switch fairly smoothly. But WOW.

I guess right now I'm wondering what a good starter kit would be for a beginner who has a significant nicotine addiction? I smoke full flavor non-menthol cigarettes.

Welcome to ECF!!

A great place to start is a 510 kit. Very easy to use and a good price. IF you can swing it, go for an Ego. It's basically a 510 kit on steroids..depending on your vaping style, it can last anywhere from 6-10 hours on one battery!

But, whatever kit you buy, MAKE SURE IT'S A MANUAL!!

Good luck and any questions, just ask!

I was just looking at the Ego. Does the manual increase the life of a battery or how long it holds a charge?

Do your research first!!!! There is so much info on this forum it will make your head spin.

I started off a little under a week ago with a 510 compatible model from a mall kiosk. I'm not too thrilled with it due to the short battery span. It works well for my wife, but she was a much lighter smoker then I am. Like you I smoke full flavor non menthol about a pack a day. I cut it down to 1/2 a pack with my current e-cig.

I have an eGO kit on the way which is basically a 510 with a larger capacity battery. Each model has it's pro's and con's. What's right for one person might not be right for someone else.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!

Okay, I'm the one that's going to hand out homework.
You should start your adventure in the ECF Library, and then head over to the social groups and check out ECF Library Annex.
Have fun reading---just don't forget to come up for air now and then.

And welcome!!!

welcome to ECF... I'm VERY NEW to the "vaping world" myself.. just got my first starter kit this past weekend. I did a TON of research before I felt comfortable buying ... I do suggest the ECF library as well as there were some great pointers there and they've condesed it pretty neatly so you don't have to search around for too much. I'm still way in over my head with all of this, but I'm optimistic it will help me kick the habit

btw, I haven't ordered any ejuice yet with nicotine, so I'm still smoking cigarettes, but have found that vaping in between cravings is a nice change of pace... good luck with whatever you decide! btw, I got the eGo kit and I think it's great!

The ego with a 510 or low resistance 510 would be good for you. The ego has an xl battery and the hello 16 also has a long lasting battery.

The only problem that I have found with my hello 16 is that depending on where you purchase it, some vendors "notch" the battery so that regular 510's as opposed to the cone atty that it comes with can be used. My hello was not notched and if I want to use a regular 510 I have to loosen up the atty a bit to get a better draw.

Thank you everyone for your terrific insights and advice. I spent a good amount of time in the library and I've narrowed the list based on your suggestions with what I've read. The ego with the 510 sounds like a pretty good choice for me. Right now I'm comparing different distributors, but I am psyched. I am going to reclaim my air and my home and I am so excited about that!

That's good info. Col. Gaunt. I read that the Hello 016 is threaded just like the 510 battery so that the 510 attys fit perfectly. (I don't want to use the Hello cone)

I am not sure if all 510's will have this problem but the ones that I used had a much harder draw. People I have spoken to have told me that they have had this problem also.
