I would take that apart, sand it with 600 grit, then 1000, then 1500 then 2000 grit. Then use a dremel with a polishing pad and some polishing compound, and make that look like pure gold. The reflection will be like a mirror. Every time you sand the brass with a higher grit of paper, change directions. Brass can polish to a gold colored mirror, try it you'll be amazed

I worked on historic sailboats/schooners in Maine for a few years. I know more than I'd like to about polishing brass. Every morning at 7am the crew would get up and our first daily duty was polishing all the brass on the boat for an hour...

WillyB,

I'm just getting ready to go from straight 3.7 coppers to a 5v. On that picture above with the TI regulator, do you have the black and white wire tied directly into the pos. post of the atty or is one grounded into the brass cap and the other tied into the pos.?
That's Sr_Larry's mod.

It's very straight forward. Pin2 of the reg is GND, and with this setup that's the tube and fittings.

Pin1 is Vin and Pin3 is Vout-> center conductor on the connector. Make sure to use a pair of 3.7V cells.
