Hello to all on this wonderful message board.
I, like probably many others visiting this site, was a lurker for years now.
I was eagerly following along every step in the development of this new and
wonderful technology that we all come to love called ecigs.
However it is only because of the recent developments in my personal
experience with ecigs that i finally decided to sign up and post my first post on the board.
(or any board to be honest. I never registered before on a forum.)
Well i know this is long and apologize in advance for that. Im just trying to cover the whole story.
I am 25 year old male, smoking since the age of 17. On average
i was smoking about a pack a day. That was until about 3 years ago when i
first heard about ecigs. Back then it was a different time. You couldn't just go on
you tube to find review videos and see how these products performed. It wasn't until
the first video reviews started to pop up on youtube that i began to take serious notice.
So about 2.5 or 3 years ago i got my first ecig (DSE-901), and since then it has been
an exciting journey to find the best and most reliable ecig that can hold up to my old habit
and replace cigs.
So long story short ,after going through almost all the products on the market, it wasn't until
i got the Ego with a LR510 atomizer that i could finally make the transition over to ecigs.
I was good for 3 months. not a single cigarette in the meantime. THen i went home to europe
for a summer vacation and convenience overcame health concerns and I went back to buying
my old Dunhill Reds for the one month period i was over there.
When i got back i actually got angry at my self and said i have had enough and finally made the
full on commitment to quit for good. I had a good device that truly stood the test of time and now there
is just no excuse anymore.
So the quitting begin with my trusted Ego with LR510. later i alternated between the LR306
and was in heaven. this was Sept 4th. I even took a photo of what i believed to be my last
cigarette in my hand.
Everything was going good until about 1 or 2 months ago.
I started noticing redness in my cheeks more so than before. I never had acne or skin issues in
high school, i just though i got lucky. So this was new.
The redness started on my cheeks and eventually spread to the sides of my face (near the sideburn area)
This was still nothing too alarming so i just continued on with life as usual. Then the redness got worse
and worse. It wasn't before long that i started to break out in bad acne in the red areas. The acne wasn't
regular in its appearance. it actually looked very dry and a strong irritation came along with it.
I switched to all VG juice at this point thinking maybe 7 months of PG is finally coming out on my skin.
Then it got even worse. Now i got concentrated dry spots near the redness and acne which was just too
much to ignore. It got to the point that i actually went to see multiple Dermatologists. I tried every topical
cream and even pills but it just seemed to persist. IT actually looked like i had hives on my FACE.
needless to say i felt like S**t.
I waited and waited and slowly my skin started to clear up. I got happy but then i realized, during these past
few days/weeks i seriously cut down on my ecig use. maybe 25puffs a day total. Well i didn't want to fully
acknowledge this and just went back to my old ecig habit. Then Lo and be hold, it all came back, tenfold.
Dry spots along with redness and bad irritated acne on my face and cheeks again.
Im sad to say this, but I'm really begging to think that there is an obvious connection here. Well lets hope
im wrong but then again, i need to investigate further. So im sorry to say that for now i am quitting ecigs
for at least 2 weeks and see what happens. It got to the point where it was more than i could handle as
far as the appearance on my face.
Im not trying to deter anyone from ecigs. I just want to tell my story. And hopefully come to some kind of
resolution I will report back here in two weeks and update on how things are coming along.
But more importantly i wanted to ask if any others have had similar experience. I've read of skin
reactions from PG but mostly on the neck, chest or shoulders. Haven't noticed too many posts about
facial acne, redness and irritation.
the immediate diagnosis from the dermatologist was rosacea. However this came out of the blue and
with different symptoms and none of the treatments worked. There was an overall dryness that covered
the entirety of the face more focused around the temple and cheeks. So hopefully this isn't something
i have to deal with for the rest of my life. (rosacea i mean)
I know this is turning into a jumbled mess but there was a lot to cover and im still sure i missed some points.
Im just frustrated and needed to get this agitation off my chest.
I love this board and cannot thank you guys enough for all the countless questions and searches you've
helped me answer, even if you never realized it. E-Cigarette-Forum, you're the best.
This is just my story.
Thanks again,
I'll keep you updated,
