I have one that does that. I just use an o ring on it.

Did it always do it? I alternate between 2 different Grands and RM2s and I think this one has been a little off in the past but now its a good 3/8ths inch past dead center on the coil. Threads must be getting worn. I'll have to go to the hardware store and find the correct o-ring.

For some reason, the cap on my RM2 now migrates around past where my coil sits(when the cap is tight). Do I need to find a proper sized o-ring and place it under the cap? I'm sure this has happened to other REOnauts. Anyone?

Worst case I can sell you a new cap . A o ring will work as well

Oh great.:glare: In my ignorance of this it wouldn't never have happen to mine but that I know it can...it will. Thanks guys.

No I overtightened it when I was trying to get the atty to sit where I wanted it before I learned to grab the base not the cap. I imagine it could happen over time just from normal wear as soft as the brass is. I just use the thinner of the 2 o rings Rob sells.

Yup, that worked! Thanks for the heads-up.:)

If it is past the coil clockwise (by 3/8" or whatever) then you can take the cap and rub it on sandpaper to file it down a bit. The effect is to move the airhole to the left, or anticlockwise, looking from the top of the atty, when you screw the cap back on.

An o-ring is easier by far, and i have successfully used the ones the RM2 comes with if you stretch it a bit.

Went the o-ring route. Used the skinny o-ring that's intended for the base of the atty. Works fine but makes it a little harder to take the cap off without loosening the atty as well. Anyway, it's now possible to align the hole perfectly with the coil. I'm happy.:)
