Brief Battery Question re. Mechanical Mod

I'm beginning to research the workings of mechanical mods, and was looking at this AW 18650 battery:

2 PC AW IMR 18650 Rechargeable Battery Flat Top 3 7 2000 mAh Batteries | eBay

Seeing that it is labeled "IMR", among other ticked boxes, I would assume it's relatively suitable for the task, but consulting the "material" in the specifications I see it is listed as Lithium cobalt oxide (ICR) which I've read isn't really ideal for vaping. This is a contradiction in the item description, correct?
Thank you for any input, or just taking the time to read.

Andrew Wong (AW) has stated categorically that all AW batteries sold on alibaba are fake. If you have a look on alibaba, it's pretty easy to get hold of them cheap.

1) Buy fake AWs on alibaba
2) Sell them on ebay for a huge markup, pretending they're real
3) Profit!

You should only buy batteries from reputable dealers. Positive ebay feedback means very little - most people are not going to realise they've been sold fakes. I've seen reports of people buying kanthal which was *vastly* shorter than the advertised length from ebay vendors with very good reputations. If you can get away with conning people that blatantly, you can certainly get away with selling fake batteries.

AW does NOT sell flat-tops, button tops only. AWs are good but the new sonys are better.

Welcome to the forum, Epyx78. I moved from regulated mods to mechs a couple months ago, and have never looked back (although to be fair to my Vamo, I still use it occasionally). Good luck with your search.

As others have pointed out, those batteries linked to 2 PC AW IMR 18650 Rechargeable Battery Flat Top 3 7 2000 mAh Batteries | eBay are counterfeit. As AW brand batteries are the most popular battery in the world, they are the most counterfeited in the world, too.

AW does not make any flat-top batteries. All AW batteries are button-top batteries. When buying AW brand, always use an authorized dealer Authentic AW Batteries at RTD Vapor or buy from trusted dealers that you have trusted in the past.

Saying that Sony's are a better battery than AW's can be misleading. That would depend upon the application that you are going to be using your chosen battery for. AW's IMR'S are still the best "general purpose" battery available. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html You don't need one of the "high amp" batteries unless you are doing sub-ohm home-made coils; these typically have a lower capacity (mAh rating) and you may not get as long of use between charges. If not doing sub-ohm, an IMR or hybrid chemistry battery with higher mAh would likely give you longer time of use between charges.
