Broke down and bought a ViVi Nova. i think i hate it. Prove me wrong!

Hey guys, second post here. First post was trying to learn more about cartos/carto tanks.

I went with the carto tank because i thought it hit better and was easier to maintain. Been very happy, haven't smoked a cig in a few months now.

went to a new shop for some new flavors and some of the customers talked me into picking up a vivi nova. They filled me with a lot of information. (maybe too much to retain)

The employee filled my tank and handed it over. it hit beautifully. Flavor was amazing, vapor was plentiful. then i left.

On my drive home (after about 5 hits w/o putting it down) I got a terrible hit. Super harsh/burnt taste. Let it sit til i got home and tried it again, hit fine.

Vaped on it for probably 40 hits. 25-30 of which came through the same terrible way. ( it was off and on)

So i put my cartotank back on.

(btw - 2.4 ohm head @ about 3.7-4.0 volts)

been looking all over the net. saw one guy say to flip it upside down when you get that hit. It kinda works for 1 or 2 hits, but i dont think i should have to do it that often)

Another vid i watched mentioned sometimes you get a bad head. changed it out for a 2.8ohm @ 2.0-4.25 volts. same result

called my friend, he says when i fill the tank i need to suck though it a few hard times without firing the mod. tried that, still same result.

im almost positive im missing a key piece of info/or step that should make this thing hit great (I would hope at least 90% of the time)

any ideas or suggestions is very much appreciated.

I recently bought a vivi nova also. However, I think mine is a fake because it doesn't work well. It could be your problem also. Where did you purchase it? I got mine at electronicstix dot com and I am convinced they sell cheap fake clones.

Just my experience with Vivi Nova's. Used them when I started for a couple of months. The biggest issue for me was that I would get dry burn at least once with every tank. Everybody told me to turn it upside down, to never have less than 3/4 of a full tank, to keep filling it, to clean out the tanks and dry burn after cleaning...The net of everything that I tried was after more than a few dry burns, I stated replacing the "heads" or wicks. Now $1.50 to $2.00 for the wicks once or twice a week was a bit much. I purchased my first Kanger Pro Tank about a month ago, and I haven't looked back. The Pro Tanks are different in that the wick or head is at the bottom of the unit, versus the "top mounted wick/head" on the vivi novas. I have not had any dry burns. Some on the forums will say it is an "airy draw", however I get a lot of vapor, and it always works. My vivi nova's sit in the drawer now, I haven't used them since. I will use them only for back up. I hope I haven't muddied up the water, I know that there are many who love their vivi novas, I just didn't have to time to keep adjusting everything to keep straight with the vivi novas. Hope this makes sense...

You're not missing anything. You have to tip and twirl them around, especially if you vape a lot. It gets old quick.

My experience with Vivi Novas:

First one I unknowingly bought a knockoff, not a Genuine Vision one. This knockoff had great flavor at first, then tasted burnt as you described and never went back. Not sure why, but it just... sucked. So I bought a genuine one and it has been much better.

The difference I could see was A) the knockoff had a pin at the top of the head that pushed up into the mouth piece when the top cover was screwed on. The Genuine has a little rubber tube with a metal disc inside. the disc has one flat side and one "cupped" side. B) The GENUINE Vision had RED over the V on Vivi nova on the box. The knockoff was plain white lettering.

Also, the burnt taste you describe could be caused by the liquid not wicking fast enough to the atomizer coil. This happens in knockoffs and genuine Vision Vivi Novas alike. ESPECIALLY if you're using 50/50 liquids or thicker. (i.e. More VG = thicker liquid). One review I watched said she had MUCH better wicking if she fluffed out the wicks before ever filling the tank. I began doing this on my genuine Vision Vivi nova and it does, indeed help with the burnt hit issue. I take a new head and grab each strand of wick and twist it "against the grain" to separate the little strands so what you're left with is a bushy wick bundle on each side as opposed to 4-5 individual "ropes" on each side. ALSO, while vaping (especially if you chain your hits) kind of tilt the tank and roll it around in your fingers making sure the liquid wets the tops of the wicks (every 2-3 puffs) to keep the coil getting wet.

I hope this helps. I fluff my wicks and do the tip/roll thing as I vape and I never get that dry-burnt hit anymore and love my vivi nova.

Like someone else said, I also bought a Kanger Protank which is a bottom-coil tank and based on a review I saw, removed one of the 3 wicks in the head before ever filling the tank. It NEVER tastes burnt. It DOES have a very "airy" draw... you breathe in the vapor instead of sucking it.. but it kicks out huge clouds and tastes almost like dripping. Also, bottom coils have "cooler" vape because the coil is further from the mouthpiece.

I go back and forth as I like the Vivi Nova AND the protank both. They are different, and each good in their own ways.

Once it tastes burned, you either need to rewick it, or replace the head altogether. Your choice.

I started out with Vivi Novas too. A lot of people love them. They're ok, but I prefer other juice delivery devices.

Vivi Novas are not my device of choice, but I've vaped a lot of juice out of them and never had any problems. You do have to make sure you don't buy a knock off, and you do have to dip and twirl them. They are very convenient as far as filling, and cleaning, and rebuilding, although they don't have the best flavor out there.

Make sure its a vision vivi nova, and getting the wicks wet by tipping the tank is neccesary to use them. Also a 2.4ohm head works best at 4.2 - 4.4v usually 4.4 but some juices at 4.2. As for cartos I may not have to tip them to wet the wicks but they are annoying to fill and doesn't taste right to me.

They also don't leak and are very hard to flood which is a huge plus. Flooding is just annoying

As a truck driver, I don't have the opportunity to drip, or keep filling up carto's.

I love the vivi. Sure the roll thing can take some getting 'use' to. But heck, after a few days using it, I don't even have to think about it, I just naturally roll it a little every time I grab it.

Heck, I have a couple DCT's from smok. I have noticed when I have them on my PV, I'm rolling em. Good for a "now that's stupid" laugh.

All a matter of choice, and in my case, repetitive habit.

I haven't tried the ViVi Nova thing yet. I do have some CE5s which also are top coils and subject to the tilt-a whirl swing.

I find I REALLY like my protank though. Bottom coil so no amusement park antics to keep the coils wet.

The other reason I have not yet tried the novas is that to get a tank that my preferred juices wont crack I would have to get the all metal tube. Not so sure I would like not being able to see if its near empty without taking it apart. Protank is glass

I just picked up a ViVi Nova a few hours ago and, so far, I am loving it. I've been doing the tipping and twirling as a Just in Case thing and after reading this thread I'm glad. It's really no big deal. Since I've found a B&M vendor, I've been using clearomizers and so glad I finally discovered them. Cartos were what I'd settled on but they did leave a lot to be desired. I think ecigs are really starting to mature and that makes for a more enjoyable vaping experience.

When the time comes to change heads, I'll try that wick trick. Sounds like a good idea.

One thing I learned is that you have to "do the twirl" and that 100% VG kills the wicks. Sometimes when you refill them, it unscrews the coil, so you have to re-screw it on (I use my pinky finger) so it still works.

Vivi Novas have been on the market quite awhile. They give good vapor but they mute the taste somewhat, they are popular for new vapors as they are easy to fill, clean and rebuild.

But there are MANY better options available NOW for flavor, vapor and less DRY HITS (wick not saturated enough, slightly hot burnt taste).

Bottom coiled clearos/ tanks= Kanger T3, Evod, Pro Tank, Vape Only BCC......atty is on bottom saturated in liquid always....few dry hits, if any

I started out with Vision Viva Novas and have quite a few...still use them every day. First, make sure yours isn't a knock off, that it is in fact a Vision Brand...you do have to "tilt and twirl" these guys...just tilt it slightly until you see your juice go to the top where the wicks go into the head...then twirl it. This is a must to keep from getting dry hits. Usually I do mine every 5-6 hits. It may seem like a bad thing to have to keep doing, but really, after a bit, it will come second nature to Vaping...I find myself always doing it even when I'm usings a Kanger tank (which I personally would not recommend to a new Vapor, but that's just me)

Bottom coils are great, but they are another can of worms. There is no perfect juice delivery system. There are always trade-offs.

Interesting that people keep swearing by 'vision'.

I have 3.5 knock offs, and a couple different styles. No issues (so far) with any of them. YET, I went out and bought two true vision vivi' mini's for my twist. One of them works great. The other leaks like a waterfall! I even switched heads thinking that it might just be a bad head.

It's all made in China folks. Quality control isn't that great over there. Sure, odds ARE that the 'original' is better, but not always.

And sure, there are better tanking systems out there. but vivi's work great for me as a truck driver, BECAUSE of the ease of use and rebuilding is simple. Living in a truck, I don't have time/space to carry a boat load of stuff, and time to rebuild. Vivi heads get rebuilt at home, and put in a altoids tin for future use. Dirty ones get pulled and put in an empty 'tic tac' case for rebuilding next time I get home.

Easy peasy. (for ME).

Just like juice, nic level, voltage and devices... it's all subjective to the individual user.

A lot of knock offs are fine and you can still get bad product if you buy Vision. Like you said, it's all made in China.

The reason I tell people to stick with Vision is because, in my experience, your odds are better with them.
