well i had an atty crap out on me for the first time today. but there was no way i would settle for a 2 week life span on any thing i buy; so this is what i did

1- boil atty in cola for 10 mins
2- rinse off cola
3- put atty and rubbing alochol in cup -stir and shake for 5 mins
4- rince well with water
5- place on foil in 200* toaster oven for 5 mins to dry

let cool and enjoy

Woo, 1 week is stinky!

My cureall...
I have an ultrasonic cleaner that I use for cleaning shell casings from ebay. Was like 50 bucks or so. I use a tiny glass jar that I fill up with vinnegar+water solution, throw my attys in it, place it in the center of the filled ultrasonic cleaner, let it run for around 8 minutes. Store in alcohol until ready to use!

I typically use one for a week then throw em into a pile. Clean when ready. Like washing clothes :)

If what ever solution you use is working to actually clean your atty, you will see some very small bits of carbon in your solution. I use a 50-50 mix of alcohol and hydrogen peroxide...seems to do the trick. I just let the atty's soak for all night and shake the jar every so often and I can clearly see small black carbon? specs in the fluid after about an hour....

DONE! After 48 hours of soaking and some "swishing", they are all working again...my homemade cleaning solution cleans 'em right up but does loosen the paint wrap on the atty outer tube...no big deal, I'd rather have clean WORKING atty's!!! They burn like new again :D
Congratulations!
This is the 50/50 alcohol/peroxide mix?

actually, I added a third ingredient that is also completely safe....if you have any old dead 801 atty's around that you have given up on, send 'em to me. I'm serious, if I can help you out, it's cool with me! pm me bro, and I'll give you my mailing addy, there's plenty of room in my "shaker", it doesn't cost me anything, I use the same fluid over and over....everybody remember the golden rule for cleaning atty's...."no black chunks in your cleaning fluid probably means your not really cleaning anything"
