Hey guys I'm fairly new to vaping and I've fallen in love with it and as part of the natural progression, I've been looking into mods. Now I'm not one who is very good when it comes to building electronics however I am pretty good at learning and very motivated. Being that my financial situation doesn't allow me to spend extra money on things I've been pondering trying to build something out of things around the house. Are there any mods that you guys would recommend to a newbie modder, that the parts could be easily found lying around? I know there a ton of different uses for mods but I have nothing particular in mind so all suggestions are welcome.

I'm very interested in experiencing the differences for myself and I don't mind having to be thrifty so let me know what's possible no matter how crazy or weird it may be!

I apologize for the stupid questions but I didn't see any stickies here that usually have good info for finding out the basics. From what I've gathered the main point of mods is to obviously provide an experience that the standard hardware doesn't offer but what are those differences? The only thing I've seemed to put together is Variable Voltage and extended battery life. Are there any other useful mods that do other things besides the 2 I mentioned?

So far I have no issues with battery life and after looking at all the suggestions given, I don't think I'd like having a box to vape from. I am interested in the VV but other than that I can't think of anything else I'd change with my pv. Any help would be great, thanks guys and gals.

I love box mods. If I could build things I would be at Mad Vapes or wherever buying the parts to build one. They are great back up devices. I don't need nor as you say can afford anything fancy at the moment so I bought mine ready to go from Maximum Vapors. I don't know what device you are using now. The pluses are many to me but thats coming from someone who started on an 808. Higher voltage, warmer vape and hits like a truck. I like that way more than the cute little thing I bought at first. I would not turn down a pretty tube mod either with a good firing button and higher battery life. As you have mentioned, my next step will be a VV of some kind.

Check out Welcome to MadVapes LLC. they have really cheap box mod kits and instructions on how to build them on the website. They also sell fairly low priced pre built box mods.

Sent from my flashback honeycomb gtablet

I love madvapes, they have some nice mods for a good price
plastic box mods are very inexpensive.
metal tubemods are nice, Roughstack, The Bolt...
and they have a inexpensive VV boxmod.

PLUS AMAZING service

A big advantage of mods, to me, is the fact that you use generic batteries. I started with an ego-t kit, but when I realized it would cost $20 or more to replace a battery I started looking at mods. Higher voltage capability is really nice, too.

You might start by building a box mod to just learn how to do it. It's a cheap and convenient container to build in. After that you can start looking around the house for interesting things to turn into PVs.

You might find some inspiration over here.... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/132663-all-my-mods-part1.html

Mods usually will give you more power than something like an Ego will. Battery mods let you charge batteries while still using the device and can give you other options. there are several mods that can be used at different voltages, depending on what batteries are in them, or there is variable voltages. Higher voltage will provide warm vapor and usually more throat hit. There are other things liek juice feeds and such. Also with a battery mod, if the batteries die, your mod still works, you just need new batteries. Or you can get a mod so so you have something that doesn't look like a cigarette, something I personally prefer. I'darather people not think I'm smoking.

MORE VAPOR.

This is one of the things you get from a good mod. More vapor, on demand, than higher production ecigs.

Also, longer product life.

Also, cooler. (In terms of style, not vapor. The vapor is hotter. )

Best,
Ande

+1 on the puck $9 worth of parts from radio shack. $1.25 510 connector from madvapes and you are vaping at 4.8V with a handsome mod you made yourself. It does'nt get any better than that. 4 NIMH rechargable AAA batteries and a charger from Walmart. You can make endless variations depending on what battery box you use. The only ability needed is how to use a soldering iron. One person even put one together without solder using crimp connectors.
