Ok folks, i figured I'd make my first post a good one. I was at Buffalo Wild Wings in Afton Village in kannpolis NC this past friday night, me and a few friends were vaping while having a few beers after a long week at work, we orderd our food drank some beers and vaped... like we always do. A short while before the checks came the manager came up to our table and asked us to stop... to our dismay I asked her why, she said "because there have been complaints about a slight smell and a cloud of smoke and it was bothering employees and pantrons." I politly replyed "well if its the second hand steam bothering them what about all the fried food they are going to consume." she rolled her eyes and walked away. We got our checks and paid them tipped out server and left. Now I am not sure if this is ALL BWW locations or just mine, but they just lost some good tipping patrons. We will take our busness to TacoMac from now on.

i dont know about the Bar area but, but it seems like the dining area is a "no fly zone" and it could have just been the manager on duty but i was mad... Polite but mad.

Yeah I get people asking me about my SB in the bar but they allow smoking so it's not like the could really tell us no.

I'm in NYS and smoking is banned indoors at all places.
I'm not going to go inside and vape because it look like smoking and can cause a lot questions etc.
When I'm at my office I stealth it, but that's different than taking an open vape in public/.
I'd say that if you vape in no smoking areas then you are asking for confrontation and questions.

Most of the time I usually ask my server if it's okay to vape before I do it. You'd be surprised at how often they say "absolutely, one of our regulars has an ecig".

I would assume that the decision from management would be location specific as well.
I always ask before vaping in the public arena, as I feel I have a chance to respectfully explain
what I am doing and what vaping is. It also prevents hard feelings for either side.

I know this is a touchy subject and most people on here won't like this, but I have to agree with tater_salad. I'm sure some businesses are cool with it, but the reality is the public does not know nor do they care to know what is truly in your secondhand vapor. People say "Educate them; use your PV everywhere," but in all honesty that is not going to work because no one cares about the facts some stranger tells them, especially when their defenses are already up. I fear that in-your-face vaping is really only going to cause more problems. Asking a manager/employee of an establishment first is the way to go, but don't be surprised if you don't get the answer you were hoping for.

The manager ASKED you to stop, and you give her a smart ... answer. Wise choice. They may have lost a customer (not like there is a shortage of those anyways) but they won in the sense that you and your friends won't be coming back to upset the other customers.

Common courtesy is not very common anymore. Just because it isn't burning tobacco leaves doesn't mean that it is a free pass to do what you want where you want. Situations that play out like what you just described do more harm than good in the fight for e-cigs.

Bravo...

Vaping in public places that don't allow smoking is just asking for trouble and will never help to get vaping accepted mainstream. The best policy is to always ask before vaping. Of course it's going to upset people who don't vape. They don't know what it is. It's just looks like smoking to those who aren't familiar. JMO.

well seeing as the server said it wasnt a big deal and he didnt mind made it ok for me to vape, but i guess vaping is alot like politics... it dosnt matter what you say, who you say it to or how you say it, you are always wrong, this is mainly why i dont join fourms for this reason, figured id take a chance here but it looks like all the others. I am not a confrontational person nor am i a smart .... but the fact that the manager says she knew they werent real got to me a little bit. the comment i gave may not have been the best but i said it, its over, yes they may not loose any sleep over us not going back but the fact remains the same.

lol i dont know about else where but i vape just about everywhere (cuse im too stupid to realize i forgot to leave my apv in the car) mostly by accident amd so far noone around here seems to care. even in sams club and best buy. i hope it comes to this everywhere else someday.

the only person to ever say something was the lady who runs the laundromat, and she said what is it? i explain. and she said it doesnt have that funny stuff in it does it? i said no and she walked away lol

instead of a response such as yours i think i would have tried taling to him after dinner and see what they really have to say.

theclev13 - Vaping in no-smoking areas comes up a lot. It is definitely a touchy subject, but there are plenty of people here who would agree with your position. I've always had the impression that most of the vapers on here are pretty vocal about vaping anywhere at anytime. It's not something I personally agree with, though. This forum has a lot of good information and a lot of people who are going to have different opinions. Rader2146 could have stated things more politely, but no point in getting upset over things people on the internet type.

I gotta agree with Rader here for saying it like it is. Your remark wasn't exactly called for and does sound a bit rude. Also, like all the others that post on here, you take the chance of your opinion not clicking with others, just as my opinion has not clicked with others on a few occasions.

And this is not like all the other forums. For the most part, everyone on here has been nothing but nice and helpful to me. Yes I had a few disagreements with a few members, but everyone has an opinion and not all of them are the same. Not trying to slam you, but if you are ever confronted again about your vaping habits, just remember, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
