Hey all,

I've been in the world of building for about a month now, and I am loving it. I am using drippers, and man does that flavor come through or what. I could hardly taste anything until I started dripping. Anyway, I settled on Sub-ohm builds from the get go. Don't worry, I do my math, use the right batteries, and I haven't blown my hand off yet.

I've been trying to find a good spot to park myself as far as builds go, but I haven't played around enough. At first .40 ohm dual coils with 26 gauge wire was enough....Smooth, creamy, quality vape. Then I wanted more, and more, so I went lower and drilled out my Tugboat airholes to 1/8 inch (99% sure). I really always do dual coil builds, mainly I just like the vapor they produce and the airholes on the tug are set up for it (they come stock at 3/32 size I think). Tried single coil with and without plugging up the opposite air hole and I wasn't impressed, so I went back to duals. The holes on the posts are pretty small, so I haven't messed around with parallel coils yet. Last night, I had a little bit of 24 gauge wire to use, so I wrapped some duals and they came out to a beautiful .2 ohms. I'd never gone that low before and at first was seriously impressed by the vapor production, heat, and flavor (I love a warm to hot vape). After an hour of use...Meh...I was adding a pretty good amount of liquid on each coil and getting maybe 2 hits, MAYBE 3 but the tail end of it would be burnt. The wicks rarely looked dry, and I was using Japanese cotton. I ran it relatively thick because I went with macro's instead of my normal micro coils. I felt like I was adding juice to already thick, saturated wick and was just getting a good burn off the coils and the tops of the wicks. But, I don't know everything about sub-ohming and I have never gone this low. I was using 30A Sony batteries. Pulling around 18.5 amps and then I believe 68 watts. Is this typical of builds in this ohm range? Does wicking need to be configured in a different way than wicking on a .4 ohm build? Went through a whole lot of e-liquid (90/10 VG) last night and was getting burnt hits fast. I had to really juice it up, test fire, and then I would get my 2-3 hits....Albeit I was blowing some decent clouds. Anyway, I am trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I had good coil to deck space, the wicks were relatively short to allow extra airflow. I just feel like WAY too much juice was needed (unless these types of builds are just hungry like that), and if that's the case I'll juice to my hearts content, just don't want to be wasting juice when I shouldn't be using huge quantities. Any advice or tips? Anyone have any easy-ish builds that would work well in a Tugboat and put out some decent clouds (preferably stuff using 26 gauge kanthal, that is all I have at the moment).

.4 Ohms with dual micros just isn't cutting it anymore. I am seeking a warmer, or hot vape - but also something that works consistently and doesn't need a load of drops every puff. Edit: I realize this is possibly a dumb statement. Hot builds need more juice, from what I gather. If loading on the juice is what I gotta do, I'll do it.

Again, turned a post into a book. I need forum therapy.

Any help appreciated!!

I love my brass tugboat.

I normally run dual 5-6 wrap use 24g and sit around .2-.25

Simple build but tons of flavor and vape in the tugboat.

I really do love this thing, aside from the leaking. I know there is a fix for it out there, but I just haven't mustered up the energy to do it. Great as my starting RDA with a deep well, good work space, and the air holes drilled out are bomb!...The only downfall with that is I have to rock a dual coil, or tape off a hole (which I have done before and it just felt awkward). I've realized at this point that it is time to step down to 24 gauge wire....I just can't get the coil to wick contact I want while also getting the resistance I want with 26 gauge. I've tried twisted, but it has to be continuous or it is a no-go. The tugboat post holes are just too damn small to fit two separate strands of twisted 26 gauge. This has been a good atty to learn and build on, and I will definitely be purchasing a brass one in the near future (after I get something else, maybe a Plume Veil). In the mean time, I am just going to fiddle around with it and try to find a decent build that puts me in the middle....Warm to hot vape, good amount of vapor production, and not a total juice hog. I realize most of this is going to be in the .2 range and I don't know if I feel comfortable going that low with 26 gauge wire. I may try some vertical coils (just because I never have done them)....Not sure how they will turn out. If anyone has ideas for a good 26 gauge build, post away and I'll build it! This weekend is going to be dedicated to just building, and building alone.

I have a Mutation X RDA that has a really deep drip well. Rip Trippers did a review on it and at around minute 7 in it he shows that well.

It's setup at 0.2 ohms with dual coils right now. Both ends of the wicks just hit the bottom of the deck. I just filled it up and vaped 5 good drags, 4 - 5 seconds each before I felt the need to drip again.

I don't have a Tugboat, but I had a look at a picture of it. Its drip well looks a lot smaller than what my MX has. I think 2 - 3 hits is normal from yours at 0.2 ohms.
