Not sure if this is news to anybody here but on another thread we were chatting about building a Darwin like power regulator (as opposed to the vv regulator). I decided to just ask the good folks at Evolv whether they would ever consider selling just their controller so we could build it into our own mod...sorry for the cross post but this was the exchange...

I sent this to the "Contact Us" page at Evolv.com

Would offering your controller as a "stand alone" unit (with a complete set of wiring instructions) to the modding community ever be a consideration? This isn't meant as a knock to your gear, in fact it's about as brilliant as it gets, it's just the form factor that may really be holding your sales back a bit...can you imagine an RSM Cutlass (beautifully crafted wood box mod that's currently running a vv controller) but now the optional RSM Cutlass tastefully incorporates the little LCD screen and an engraving that says "Powered by Darwin"...food for thought

They answered me back no lie, 2 hrs later with...

Hi Corey,
Great minds think alike. We've got a modders board which we hope to release in a few weeks. It will allow mod makers and modders the ability to put power regulated boards into their mods and will be available with many options. i.e. on board charging, screen, different pots or just leads, different buttons or just leads, etc. etc. Kind of an erector set for modders and best of all the base boards will start in the $25 range.

Thanks,
Brandon

Not sure I get it. What's the difference Volts/Watts, I'm not talking about electric meaning, but regulation mode.
I can have a a dial with numbers from 1 to 10, once I know that my X type atty works at 7 I'll use it that way, doesn't really matter it's 7 Volts or 7 Watts, or 7*e^PI Joules/inch*Coulomb.
